The ski resort. The storm that hit yesterday has cleared out. Theres sunshine and a lot of snow left behind. We have calls into the Placer County sheriff. Were told that search and rescue teams will be working in the avalanche area. And this from the caltrans cameras near the entrance to Alpine Meadows resort. You can see the roads are mostly clear. For the most part they are. Kind of some slushy conditions and good access for the rescue teams. An avalanche in the sierra this morning. Several victims are unaccounted for. This happening at the Alpine Meadows resort. You might remember a deadly avalanche in 1982 killed seven people there at alpine. Im allen martin. Now back to you. We did have a winter storm warning in effect for this area this morning because of the winter storm that dumped a lot of snow in the sierra. Tonight skiers and snow borders are heartbroken and shaken. Really sad. That can be anybody. Been hearing a lot of people talk about it. I am glad that those missing people were found. When gough oyou go out in are that, it is important to watch snow falling around you. You know in areas where it looks unsettled like avoid those spots and you know just kind of know where you are and know your surroundings. Now the Sierra Avalanche Center listed the avalanche risk today at a three out of five. Thats a considerable risk. The combination of the wind and all the new snow created some dangerous and some considerably dangerous conditions. Along with the man who lost his life out here, another skier was also hot in that avalanche, he was seriously injured and was able to be rescued.
