Firefighters continue to investigate a four alarm fire that tore down an Apartment Building yesterday morning. Three people are now confirmed dead. Firefighters are still searching for another person. That fire erupted just before dawn yesterday in a building on san pablo avenue. Tell us about the alsos some of the residents say the building was not safe. Reporter thats right. Well about 100 residents made it out alive. They have since been taken to the west oakland youth center. The fire is still under investigation. We do not have a cause. However, a few of the tenants told us they believe it started inside one of the apartments. We got news yesterday that fire inspectors were here just three days ago and found at least eight violations. This video was taken by oakland firefighters after they got the call at 5 00 a. M. Firefighters were able to rescue 15 people from the building but there were still people unaccounted for. Yesterday afternoon the Alameda County Sheriffs Office brought in two cadaver dogs. The Coroners Office says the victims are two men and one woman. One victim has been identified as edwin anderson. He was 64 years old. Now the buildings main 10 ant is a faith based group. The tenants complained about Living Conditions and as you heard we did get the report. Those violations as for the people that have been displaced, some of them were in transitional housing and were still trying to get word as to what the city plans to do to help those people. Lee martinez in west oakland, thank you. Well talk to you later. A Santa Clara County jail inmate. And deputies call the attack vicious and unprovoked. Ktvus Azenith Smith has the report. Reporter youre taking a look at pictures provided by the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office. While his back was turned these two inmates began stabbing him multiple times in the hod, in his back, in the sides with a manufactured weapon. Reporter the Sheriffs Office says around 9 00 in the morning sunday 40 inmates watched by one and deputies were out of their cells in the 7a wing of the jail. The victim sustained several puncture wounds many lacerations throughout his body to include significant damage to his head. He is expected to survive. The Sheriffs Office says its unclear where that metal came from. Of the 22 and 24yearold suspects are in jail facing murder attempt charges. The attack was caught on surveillance cameras after inmate michael tyriedied in 2015. The Sheriffs Office isnt releasing the video given a new policy implemented in february. The jail in our in much of our criminal Justice System has been under going a series of reforms and one of the most important reforms is been putting cameras in the jail. Santa clara county supervisors cindy chavez is in new york for immigration conference. She says the policy provides some policy. And independent jail oversights. Azenith smith ktvu fox 2 news. Well the man charged with kidnapping a 13yearold girl in San Francisco last week will stay in custody as his case moves forward. The judge agreed with prosecutors that 27yearold igle poses a danger to the community and should remain in jail. He faces six felony charges including kidnapping and attempting to commit rape on a minor. Witnesses say they heard her screaming and pulled her out of the car. They got a partial license plate number. Last week his mother told the media he was quote probably not mentally healthy. His attorney may use that in his defense. We believe that there is more information that will come to light. Its important for the public to know that lee is a lifetime San Francisco resident with zero criminal record of any kind. The Attorney Says igle plans to enter a not guilty plea on april 5th. If hes convicted he could face live in prison. Time is 4 36 the public vigil set tomorrow for 100yearold iris canada who died over the weekend. Miss canada was recently evicted from her home. She had secured a lifetime lease at 700 a month. But the new owners fought to have her evicted saying she no longer lived there continuously. She was evicted last month. A public vigil is set at her former home at 5 00 tomorrow night the city of oakland will the city of oakland will test the idea of sanctuary. With the rise of at the present time cities throughout oakland the mayor tells ktvu new methods of tackling homeless must be examined. It will be equipped with sanitation and Garbage Service and could be ready in a few months. Support staffers will also be on hand to help the homeless with counseling and other needs. Yesterday, the water flowing down the oroville dams main spillway was stopped. State Officials Say one way or another they will have a functioning spillway in place in time for the next rainy season. They plan to have a partial plan finished as early as next week. Turning now to back to our coverage of the raiders moving to las vegas. There are some hard feelings among fans and local leaders. Yeah, oakland and Alameda County came up with a plan. But local leaders say despite their proposal the nfl still approves the raiders moving to las vegas. Theyre now considering suing the raiders and the nfl in trying to kicks raiders out of the coliseum. They can go down to santa clara and play. They didnt want us. We u. S. Bed our tails. They didnt engage with the city of oakland and try to come up with a comprehensive deal. The team will play at the coliseum this season. The raiders also have an option next year as well. Well besides the raiders moving to los angeles in 1982 and coming back in 1995. You know the st. Louis cardinals went to arizona in 1988. In 1995 the rams left los angeles and moved to st. Louis. The following year the Cleveland Browns packed up in the middle of the night and moved to baltimore and became the ravens. And then last year the rams moved back to los angeles where theyre now building a 2. 6 billion stadium. And the San Diego Chargers will also play in that new l. A. Stadium. The chargers will play home games this year at the Stubhub Center in carson california. Thats the home of the mls galaxy. The chargers and the rams will move into that stadium in 2018. He was found in the road near 1st street and hawthorn way just before 8 00 last thursday night. Authorities say it appears he may have been hit by a car but so far no witnesses have come forward. Downed power lines on bart tracks in oakland caused big problems. A car crashed into a power pole near the west oakland bart station. That station was shut down for an hour while the crews cleared the tracks. But those passengers were evacuated they had to find some other way to get around. Some of them turned to buses or ferries. Others ordered lyft or uber. The chronicle reports prices for the Ride Share Company jumped 200 or more during that rush. Happening today in oakland British Airways is laufrnling new direct service to london. The new flight will connect london with oakland four days a week. The new service will make British Airways the only European Airline to operate from all three bay area airports. The Hawaiian Airlines yet was forced to make an emergency landing. One person took this video of people getting off the plane when that jet made a safe landing. The 241 passengers were then booked onto the next flight to honolulu.
