chance for everybody to at least get a light sprinkle. let me show you here as we pick it up this morning, there's that line and the possibility of -- especially over the north bay of seeing the showers. by lunchtime we're partly sunny, temperatures cooler than what we had yesterday. a little moisture picked up over the diablo range but i think most of us are mainly dry. partly cloudy to mostly cloudy and sort of a cool day. this is the line of rain that will bring more opportunity as we get into the evening hours. it's already past sunset. sunday evening 8:00 moving into sonoma course, very eclectic group. we have the crucible with the ring of fire. runners get to run through a ring of fire which is pretty neat. >> reporter: this is video from last year. this is going to means there's going to be street closures, some already in effect. you can go on-line, oaklandmarathon.com to get full details on which streets are going to be closed but pretty much every major street is going to be closed at some point, partially at least between now and noon today. if you're heading out to oakland, if you can avoid driving around in oakland this morning it's probably a good idea. i'm sure the organizers and people taking part in the run would love for people to come out and walk and cheer them on as they run by. we'll be here for the start of the race in 30 minutes. back to you. >> i don't know if the director is still there but i ran in the festival, the very first one they had. >> reporter: i did run in that ring of fire which was very cool. i ran through all the streets of oakland. >> i wonder how much they changed the course or if this is the best way to kind of highlight oakland that they already have. >> reporter: let me go ask him. lee, we have one more question. how -- our anchor claudine ran this in 2010, the first year of it. how different is the course? she's talking about the ring of fire and how much fun that was. how different is the rest of the course? >> it's similar. when we first got it going we of course started and finished by city hall. but it outgrew that space. that is why we're here at snow park. >> reporter: there you go. they've gotten more popular. they've grown in popularity and there's more participants. so now they are starting, the only significant change sounds like is the start and finish line which is in a man wielding a knife. the officer said he repeatedly ordered the suspect to reportedly drop the weapon but he refused. police shootout at 7:15 in richmond, an officer and suspect exchanged gun fire after a brief chase. the officer not hurt. however, a second suspect got away. and police in concord are investigating a fight that sent three people to the hospital. police say that large fight broke out at a shopping center on meadow lane around 2:00 this morning. now, there is a nightclub located in that shopping center. three people were rushed to the hospital with stab wounds. welcome to the weather center. and corn dog's favorite fan rosemary orozco on this national corn dog day. you said models are changing. the weather activity out there in the pacific is moving as we talk? >> sure, yeah, and continuously as we get into your morning, we've got a few clouds, they are parting and a little bit of sunshine poking through but we will be partly sunny to mostly cloudy through the morning as we get into the second half of your day, we will turn partly cloudy and as mike mentioned the forecast models are changing up just a little bit. so let's take a look at the very latest. first, we have stormtracker 2 here to show you not a lot of rain falling, a little bit of drizzle reported along the coastline, we had some over santa rosa, fairfield, those are some of the only areas where we saw rain, oakland reported a little bit of light rain and at this point it's tough to see anything out there. we will have the slight possibility of a few passing showers later today. it won't be enough to ruin any plans so if you do have outdoor plans, don't change them but do expect a partly cloudy to mostly cloudy cooler day with a light passing shower a possibility. as we get through the evening hours, that's when our opportunity for some rain is going to come because it's still way back in here off the coastline. that little bit of drizzle, few passing showers this morning with the mostly cloudy conditions. at lunchtime we still have mostly cloudy skies. as we get into the afternoon we will finally see better breaks for the second part. as we get into sunset, that line of rain now moving into california, all the way down to lake county, northern edge of sonoma county by sunset but for the most part our sunday going to be dry, going to be cool, mostly cloudy. into the evening hours the line begins to move and overnight hours it begins to sink into the south bay. the sierra picking up rain and snow so that's good as well. as we get into your monday morning, this is what has changed, we were already drying out by monday morning but now the models want to bring in just a little bit more moisture so perhaps a few lingering showers for the monday morning drive and we will be tracking it for you. but in a nutshell, partly to mostly cloudy for today, a light shower or two maybe or better bet will come as we get into the evening hours and as far as rainfall amounts not a lot. one to 2/10-inch expected over parts of the north bay less than that as you go farther south. i'll have a look at your temperatures for today coming up. right now thousands of runners are hitting the streets in oakland. the oakland marathon began earlier this morning. >> a lot of fun out there. minutes ago the half marathon kicked off. ktvu fox 2's allie rasmus in the fun run this morning. suzie, how young are your daughters? >> three and one. >> reporter: how did they like it? >> they had a blast. >> reporter: a lot of people taking part in the oakland running festival, over 10,000 people signed up for it this year. it's been going on since 2010 and it gets bigger every year. with me oakland mayor libby shaft. this event gets more and more popular every year. what does it bring to oakland to have something like this? >> i think mostly it brings the opportunity for people to see how amazingly awesome our city is. this is a city that's not only beautiful, physically beautiful place for the runners to go through, the weather is perfect, but we've got a unique flavor of scrappy oakland pride that everyone sees along every stretch of the route and that's what's been so fun to display today. >> reporter: all the different neighborhoods and a lot of people i talked to this morning before they took off running, they said that the diversity of oakland is something that you can really tell running through the neighborhoods all over the town and you were talking about this morning how oakland has been named one of the most diverse cities in the country? >> yeah. just last year we were named the most diverse city in america. the runners get to see that. they travel through just like those redwood forests up in montclair, run down lincoln boulevard where they see a view of the entire bay, they go through the fruitvale district which is like our latin flavor district and then they go through china town, they go through west oakland where we've got a lot of industrial arts. they even get to run under a framing art that's been put up by the crucible organization. so they see it all and then, you know, circling our beautiful lake merritt really is the icing on the cake. >> reporter: and the organizers say that the economic impact, because they have people coming from 38 different states and three countries, i think, to take part in the running festival, how do they calculate the economic impact for something like this? does it benefit the city economically? >> absolutely. this is a great benefit for our city. this year they actually had 34 states and eight foreign countries represented amongst the runners this year. we see more than $12 million of economic impact, that's everything from people staying in our hotels but the -- rates donate a couple million dollars to local charities right here in oakland. >> reporter: thank you very much. oakland mayor libby shaft talking about the oakland running festival been going on since 2010. this year the organizers say there's 8% more people taking part in it for a total of 10,000 people running in that marathon, half marathon, 5k fun run, the youngest competitors as after that game. >> there's something just absolutely great about playing in front of a home crowd, especially a crowd that's as engaged as stanford's is, you know, you can't overstate how nice it is to play in front of your fans. >> and this was more than just another cardinal victory, it was coach tara vandemere's 800th career win leading stanford, it is also the team's 500th victory in maple what is this thing called they are doing? >> a burpee pullover. looks like the blue lane is in a slight lead. >> now they are head to head. >> the final movement the ground overhead so they can that
