The city said theyll most likely have to approve the closure of the park that Many Council Members appear to be fighting for the rights of the roughly 400 people low income, this is the most affordable place to live in palo alto. They were having people wear shirts saying save our homes, whether the relocation package is adequate. One of the biggest points is palo alto schools is are not being taken into consideration, and the residents want to be compensated for that, but the attorney for the Mobile Home Park argues, they are not required to include determining the value. The purpose is not, wherever they can afford to, but to be able to keep them in a similar community. The city council determined to postpone making a decision until next month. The council is asking the home be reappraised and being taken into consideration. Residents would have six months before having to move. Happening today, a contracosta Water District will consider mandatory 25 water reduction. This follows yesterday decision by east bay to have customers pay more while using less water. Effective july 15th, the customers will pay a drought surcharge meaning the average bill will go from 48. And cut water use from the current 15 to 20 . Using excessive amounts of water and will face higher rates and fines. Were hoping for a very wet next year, were planning for the worst. Every gallon of water saved this year will put us in better shape. Contracostas Water District is considering temporary drought rates that would increase the charge for each 148gallons of treated water by 50 cents. To put that in perspective. A sprinkler uses about 1,000 gallons of water. And a legislative analyst says for the time being the drought does not pose a significant threat to the states economy. The report also says even a substantial decline in agriculture, and california farmers produce much of the countrys crops but only accounts for 2 of the states gross domestic product. Gives smartphones to the homeless to help them with basic needs. The Technology Alliance runs this program, it is a Public Partnership with city bank, and google which donated hundreds of smartphones. So far 120 smartphones have been given to homeless people. Last night the city could believe voted to create its own police force. Police officials in arizona are defending what a Police Officer did when he deliberately crashed his police car into a man that was carrying a rifle. Police in tucson following this man, 36yearold mario after they say he committed several crimes that day including stealing a rifle from a wal mart. He was walking down this residential street firing the gun into the air when a Police Officer hit him just ran him down with his patrol car. The chief of police says he was headed towards a crowded business area and that Police Officer probably saved a lot of lives. The man who was hit, he survived, he is now facing more than a dozen charges. Former county Softball Club coach is facing 100 counts of sex related offenses involving his female players at a Christian College in new york. 43yearold kurt was arrested last week after 13 former players saying he forcibly touched them and had other inappropriate behavior. Police say the suspected crile started last fall soon after he was highered as a head coach.
