It is extraordinary, really, because when we undertook this project, eight years ago, it was difficult to find just 50 objects, although we think they tell the story of the war. It is a story of art, as you mentioned, artifacts, art, and objects standing in for the larger story. The story about race, the story about militarization, the story about descent, soldier live, civilian life. But it is also a story about collecting and about the New York Historical society as the trove of this citys lore from the revolutionary periods to today. So i think it is
