you. steve has left me with great forecast. sunny skies. some areas near 80 degrees this afternoon. upper 70s for our inner communities. let's take a look at the sat lie and radar where you can see northern california getting rain but not for us. we are with low clouds and patchy fog this morning. even reports of visibilities down to a quarter of a mile in some areas. over parts of the north bay and through the valley locations be prepared for that. and along the coastline we have a little bit of fog as well. 56 degrees in redwood city. 59 in oakland. upper 50s to low 60s near the ballpark. this morning where we have partly cloudy to mostly clear conditions. take a look at the afternoon ties. mostly sunny and 70s. 73 san rafael. mid 70s free hospital. 76 in san jose. beautiful day along the peninsula. upper 70s for areas like antioch and livermore. 80-degrees in the forecast for gilroy. let's talk about our forecast for game three of the world series. we've got some great weather coming our way. it will be mostly sunny, it will be mild. 72 degrees at game time. take a look at this. we do have a southerly breeze. it could be a little breezy as we get into the second half of the day. these winds are ahead of a system that will bring us rain for saturday. i will have a look at that forecast. let's go to at & t park where sal is standing by. awfully quiet, sal. it's quiet out here. thank you very much. one of the things that you were talking about in your weather forecast is it's mild. it certainly is mild out here. i don't really need a jacket. let me turn this off here. world series here at at & t park. it's game number three against the royals of course. and it's going to have traffic implications. we will look at the traffic right now as we go to the east shore freeway. it looks pretty good so far. it's looking nice coming out from the carquinez bridge to the mccarthur maze. no major problem there is. bay bridge i want to warn you this place is going to be rocking and packed today. if you are going to be using the bridge you need to give yourself a lot of extra time. a lot of the parking down here at at & t park is not available. whatever parking is available, it will be very expensive. let's go to the south bay the traffic is doing okay on 101 and 280. some people today may not be going to the office but right now it does look good as you come series logo so everything getting into gear here for the big game. first pitch in 12 hours. we know the giants wednesday night in kansas city after their game three loss and flew into the bay area. after they landed at sfo it was straight to at & t park for batting practice. starting game three this weekend will be tim hudson. he is the oldest player on the giants roster and leads with 214 career wins. he has been on teams that made the playoffs seven different times in his 16 year career but he has never been to the world series. >> you know this is something i've never had to deal with at this point in my career. it is something i've always looked forward to and hoped and dreamed this opportunity would happen to me. it is almost a sense of relief that it's finally here. that what i have hoped and dreamed for throughout my career is finally here and there is not going to be anybody on the field that is more ready than i am. >> reporter: everyone will be pulling for hudson 2:00 this afternoon. first pitch just after 5:00. following the game our live post game show and then our 10:00 news. we are following breaking news right now coming in from milpitas. four people rescued this morning after being trapped on the roof of their home when it went up in flames. the fire broke out at 3:30 this morning on farm crest street. when firefighters got there, they found four people on the roof and heavy smoke coming from the house. two people actually jumped to the ground. these are live pictures you are looking at right now. the firefighters still there. two other people were rescued by these firefighters. now one woman suffered burns. she was already taken to the hospital. coming up for you at 5:30, ktvu alex savidge who is out there now will tell you more about why the fire department had to call the san jose fire department and ask for help. happening now dozens of east bay workers for the garbage company waste management are walking picket lines. here is video taken outside waste management headquarters in oakland a short time ago. other workers are picketing outside. many of the workers are spanish speaking immigrants. they say they are facing discrimination on the job. now right now it doesn't appear this protest will effect garbage service today. we will keep an eye on this and bring you an update on the story. the center for disease control and prevention is on the ground in new york city with its ebola response team where an american doctor has been diagnosed with the virus. katie utehs is live in our newsroom to explain the reason health officials are facing a challenge insuring the public is not in any harms way. >> reporter: the doctor returned from west africa where he treated ebola patients and traveled all around the new york city area. going for a jog, taking a subway and bowling in brooklyn. craig spencer returned to the united states a week ago but did not experience symptoms until yesterday when he developed a fever. he had been taking his temperature twice a day since his return. new york city leaders say people should not panic because in reality the doctor had contact with very few people after exhibiting symptoms. >> being on the same subway car or living near a person with ebola does not in itself put someone at risk. >> the four people dr. spencer came in contact with have been quarantined. this case is starkly different from that of thomas eric duncan who died in dallas. doctors began treatment immediately on spencer where duncan was sent home and later returned to the a san francisco tour bus is apologizing after a guy went on a racist tirade. it happened on his last day on the job. >> when you come to america you've got to asemilate a little bit. here in america we don't eat turtles and frogs. >> the tour guide made that vulgar racist rant adds the double decker bus rolled through china town. san francisco mayor ed lee and david chew are among those saying the company's apology is not enough. they are demanding workers under go sensitivity training. prosecutors are deciding not to file charges against a nude cell phone picture from a drunk driving suspect. we have learned authorities is served a search warrant at shawn harrington two weeks ago. they gathered evidence that led to the scandal. the officer is accused of forwarding explicit photos of the dui suspect from her phone to his phone while booking the 23-year-old woman into martinez county jail in august. >> she has no ideas where the photographs are. who has seen them, who may have retransmitted those photographs, and when they may or may not appear throughout her life. the anxiety associated with it is unbearable. >> the chp veteran has been assigned to desk duty. time is 5:16. nba star and former santa clara university basketball star steve nash who is now with the lakers well, he will miss the entire upcoming season. the lakers announced the 40- year-old steve nash his injured back it will make him miss the whole season. nash already had said this season his 19th in the nba would probably be his last but he is not officially announced his retirement. the oakland a's have not given up on plans to one day move to san jose. a deal revealed last night extends negotiations between the a's own the city of san jose for up to seven more years. it also extends an agreement to allow the a's to buy land set aside for a ballpark if a move is approved some day. this deal comes just three months after the the a's and city of oakland agreed to a lease extension allowing the a's to stay at the coliseum for up to ten years. 5:17 is the time. we have a nice treat today. sal has a nice treat because he gets to be out at the ballpark. >> reporter: it is excellent here. the best way to do it is to take bart or muni down to the stadium because parking we have seen it at some places around $150 a day. just for the game. i wouldn't pay that. let's go to the toll plaza. it is nice. remember the toll plaza and bay bridge will be in play all day long because people will be coming for 5:07 first pitch. game three of the world series first game in san francisco. looking at the san mateo bridge in case you want to avoid the bay bridge. right now the san mateo bridge looks okay. and the livermore valley commute looks good. silicon valley drivers are not seeing a lot of slow traffic by the way. 101, 85, and 280 are also looking good for your drive. right now it's time to go to the weather. here is rosemary. good morning. we have a fabulous day in store. it will be a little breezy but it will be mild and it will be mostly sunny. let's take a look at the sat late and radar. talking an't a little fog. it's patchy and dense. along the coast some of our valley locations. this rain to the north of us will stay to the north of us. not going to bring us any for today but as early as tomorrow morning i'm talking in the over night hours, i'm talking before we wake up, the rain will begin to fall. and it has to do with this system as we slide closer to the coast. and in fact, i will pick it up tomorrow morning at 5:00 a.m. and take a look. it's already falling over the north bay. it's along the coastline by 6:00, 7:00. it's now spreading inland. if you have an early morning soccer game or baseball game this is something to consider. by 9:00 notice beginning to taper off a little bit. but it's not going to go away. round two will be spotty showers. that means the on and off stuff. and it will continue all the way into the afternoon. it's 5:00. wide spread over the north bay and possibility of showers in the forecast for world series game four. and again that will be tomorrow. as we get into saturday night, if you do have evening plans lurk be drying out. this primarily a saturday event. as far as rainfall amounts around a quarter inch to a half an inch to an inch. temperatures right now we have 49 in walnut creek. 60-degrees in extended forecast here with your bay area weekend always in view, we are dry today, we are wet tomorrow, we are dry again on sunday and then dry as we get into next week. but let's talk about the morning long. a breast cancer survivor from san jose will be fulfilling a lifelong dream by atepidding her first world series game and watching the giants play tonight. she has under gone a double mastectomy, chemo therapy. and as a reward for staying strong, her niece bought her a pair of tickets to tonight's game. now her focus is on her team. >> i have no doubt they are going to win this one. kit be all around super exciting. >> i think they are going to take inspiration from ilene as well. she will be among those that will roll out the game. time is 5:26. new reports this morning sears may soon close more than 100 stores and lay off more than 5,000 employees. investor website seeking alfa says sears is struggling. now earlier this year sears closed 96 of its stores within a six month period. next month when it reports its quarterly earnings it will have a better idea on just how many stores they will close. the 2014 world series has come to san francisco. we are live at bay area. a few areas perhaps even touching 80 degrees so is a warmer day for many. we do have a little bit of fog banked up across the coastline. down about a quarter mile. so something to consider as you get outside. temperature wise upper 40s and 50s. upper 40s walnut creek. 59 san francisco. upper 50s and low 60s at at & t park. 55 mountain view. 54 in san jose. for the afternoon today here moving at the speed limit but there is a backup. a slight backup starting to form at the cash lanes. now let's check the commute in san francisco. northbound 101 looking pretty good right now. so does southbound 101 down the peninsula. so if you are planning to catch a flight at sfo this morning as of right now, no problems heading there. and it's a pretty smooth commute for drivers in the south bay. some road work was taken place over night but the freeways for the most part are clear. time right now is 5:32 pam. a lot of people wearing orange and black today. ktvu janine de la vega is joining us from san francisco right at mccovery cove. janine, what are you looking at now? >> reporter: it's the calm before the storm right now. it is beautiful out here on the water. of course, nobody is here right now. none of the fans but this afternoon it is going to be packed with people and this place is going to be pumping with excitement. just to give you an idea this is what it looked like outside at & t park when the giants won the world series in 2012. fans were going crazy. now with game three there is orange and black. we met up with a super fan from los gatos who is known as mccovery dave because he listens to the games in his kayak. holes up orange signs with his inspirational messages. mccovery dave has custom made hat >> and then the rarest of those are the playoff home runs. there has only been one series home run. so i want to see the second world series giants home run come into mccovery cove. it will be incredibly special. >> reporter: mccovery dave has quite a bit of -- he will be meeting up with other super fans before the game. just to give you an idea of what mccovery cove is going to look like, tons of kayaks will be packed together in the water. here's a look from the last world series. it's a lot of fun. these guys are keenly listening to the radio and trying to figure out where the ball will be hit so they know where to paddle. again back out here live when we were driving here up to at & t park we did see a lot of other tv crews so around right now there is a lot of media prepping and setting up. but again we will be seeing a lot of fans soon. this place will be packed and coming up later in the morning news we will share with you how much one of those splash balls is worth if it gets here. if you heard or saw that, that was a bit of the party. some of the city's heavy hitters such as willie brown, giants ceo was among those that wined and dined. san francisco mayor ed lee praised the giants for representing the city's hard work and community spirit. >> the entire organization from larry bear and all the investors, it's a wonderful time for our city. i have to say i'm the luckiest mayor to be in san francisco. >> it is a pretty good time to be mayor of strain. the gala featured a giant colored orange carpet. and there was a spectacular waterfront show. a giant spent wednesday night in kansas city after losing game two. they flew back to san francisco yesterday. after landing at sfo they headed straight to at & t park for batting practice, fielding drills. tim hudson is a starting pitcher for game three. at 39 year career but this is his first time in the world series. now if you are hoping to go to tonight's game and still don't have a ticket, bow it will cost you. stub hub says the cheapest ticket is standing room only and that is $531. and if you want an actual seat to sit down, that will cost you $600 or more. two seats on the field level costing $25,000. and the prices are constantly changing. post game show and of course the 10:00 news all here on ktvu channel 2. a woman was rushed to the hospital after being bufferined by a large house fire in -- burned by a large house fire in milpitas. alex savidge has more. >> reporter: milpitas fire departments made a dramatic rescue. the place was on fire. the first floor was filled with flames when they got here and there were four family members on the roof of the home that includes two kids. firefighters had to help two of those family members jump down the other two were brought down i ladders. you can see the extensive damage that was done to this home on the inside, this is on farm crest street in milpitas. the fire started around 3:00 this morning. it's unclear if there were any working spoke detectors inside the house. battalion chief told me someone could have ceasely been hurt out -- could have seriously been hurt out here. >> they are very lucky. they were in the one last occupiable space. >> reporter: because of the size of the fire and people were on the roof and needed to be rescued, san jose firefighters were also called in here to assist. after the fire was knocked down, crews did search the home. they found the family dog that had been killed in this fire. the fire at this point was concentrated near the kitchen. live in milpitas alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you for that update. time is 5:39. seven people were hurt until dublin after a car smashed right through a popular mexican restaurant. it happened yesterday evening. the 56-year-old driver told police she accidentally stepped on the gas pedal not the brake. and her black convertible landed inside that damaged restaurant. the driver along with six customers were taken to the hospital for treatment. now to our continuing coverage of the shooting rampage in ottawa, canada. lawmakers paid tribute to the start at arms who stopped the attack. that is 58-year-old kevin vickers. he was in his office on wednesday when he heard shooting in the hallway leading to the parliament chambers. he grabbed a gun from his desk and went out into the hall and shot and killed the gunman. canada's prime minister says the country will not be intimidated by terrorists. >> we will be vigilant but we will not run scare. we will be prudent but we will not panic. as for the business of government, here we are in our seats, in our chamber, in the very heart of our democracy. the gunman reportedly recently converted to islam and trying to get a pass port to go to syria. the royal canadian mounted police released this video. you can see the car pull up. the gunman gets out of the car with a large gun. you can see people running away. he shot and killed a soldier at a national war memorial. police in new york investigating whether an attack on four police officers was an act of terrorism. a man with a hatch et came from behind a bus stop, hit one of the officers in the arm and hit another one on the head. as he raised the hatch et to hit him again, other officer fired several shots and killed that man. both of the injured officers were rushed to the hospital. one of those officers is listed in critical condition this morning. >> we will certainly be standing with the family and praying with them. >> authorities believe that suspect may have been stocking the officers before his attack. police are now on heightened alert. dozens of waste management workers on strike in the east bay. coming up at 6:00, the discrimination they say is leading them to picket right in front of the company headquarters. >> all. a silicon valley start-up company developed new technology that helps police dispatchers track when an officer uses a gun. the latest device by yard arm technology fits right inside the handle of most police guns. it connects to the officers smart phone using blue tooth. it tracks where the gun is, when it's taken out of its holster, when it's fired, and what direction it's fired. two law enforcement agencies are testing this out now. the santa cruz county sheriffs department and another agency right outside of dallas. >> we are going to be able to see in realtime if our officers are in trouble and they are unable to ask for assistance. that is the worst nightmare for my police officer in the field. >> right now yard arm technology is paying for the testing. the company says if the trials go well, they hope to make the product available to other police departments next year. the price for the tracker that is is still has not been determined. a tour bus in san francisco ran over and killed a woman walking in a crosswalk right outside of city hall. witnesses say the motorized cable car tour bus hit the woman. she was in her 60s as she walked across the street. she worked in the city's controller off the and people that live and work that area say despite clear pedestrian markings and neon signs they say the area is very dangerous. >> everybody is saddened because she passed away. it could have been any of us going to lunch. sometimes the cars don't stop in front of city hall. >> passengers on board the tour bus say the driver seemed to be very cautious and they estimate that he was going less than five miles an hour. police say they will wait for the results of their investigation before deciding whether or not to arrest or cite that tour bus driver. time is 5:47. the golden gate bridge district meets this morning. they will talk about a controversial idea to charge people to walk or bike across the golden gate bridge. the driver's pay up to $7 to drive across the golden gate bridge. for people that walk or bike across the bridge they do it for free. however the bridge district current budget problems may change all of that. that is still not clear how much the toll might with b if the board approves that plan. the kansas city royals nearly welcomed their youngest fan at game one of the world series after a woman into labor at the ballpark. jason and stephanie say they were very excited to be at their first world series game on tuesday, but before the game even officially started, stephanie went into labor. they say they quickly realized they needed to go to the hospital. >> i found an usher there and said my wife is going into labor can we get a ride back to the car any think i freaked her out. >> the couple watched the game from the liberty hospital delivery room as baby ali was born. she is already sporting you can see her team colors. that is worth missing the world series. >> they will always have a story to tell the baby all day. we will have a special show this evening before the broadcast 2:00 right here. let's go to the traffic. right now highway 24 we had a car on fire nearby. and there was a fire truck. not a lot of slow traffic. so far in contra costa county only highway 4 is showing slow traffic. bay bridge toll plaza you will be able to see not a big backup although as we get closer, there will be a little bit of a backup here. the metering lights go on. you will see a little bit of a backup. it's taking 8-10 minutes to cross that. if you are driving in san jose and the south bay. 280 and 101 are doing industry. the cancer society says governor brown has accepted contributions from phillip morris for his own campaign and also for a committee supporting propositions one and two. the cancer society
