Some upper 50s or very low 50s. Very cool readings. By sunday morning we could have extremely cool readings and we protected areas. San francisco will go 66 today. Because that fog is increasing fast and not only that it will give you drizzle tonight. Front is on the way. Today everyone though it will be sunny for most expect by the coast you will notice a change. Fog, sun, breezy. Cooler for all. Fog increasing rapidly. I think it will lift tonight into tomorrow. Right now we are looking at a commute that looks pretty good here at the bay bridge toll plaza with no problems on the upper deck of the bay bridge. As a matter of fact we have seen very nice traffic as you drive through all the way up to downtown oakland. Looking at the bay area we dont see a lot when it comes to road sensors. We can see traffic is moving well for example on the dublin grade. Lets go back to the desk. We are still following a developing story we first told you about at 4 30. San Francisco Police officers and firefighters are gathered right now at the bay view district. They are searching for a barry suspect. Tara moriarty is there right now to tell us what is happening. Reporter we have just learned the suspect may have gone down an air vent. That is currently where officers are looking. All of this unfolded shortly after 4 00 this morning when police got a call of a burglary unfolding. Basically here at this bank here. Bank of america off of san bruno. You can see Police Officers with their flashlights right now if we pan over to the left are going into a nearby business. Probably to access that vent better. They believe a man with a crowbar was inside the bank of america. Some sort of alarm triggered and they are searching the roof as well the bank. They have brought in the canine unit to go through the bank. Its not known if the man got away with anything. We understand he is dressed in black and wearing a hoody. There is surveillance cameras stationed through the another building and bank of america officials are here on scene. Weve been kind of they have been moving the ladder around up there on the roof. We dont think they spotted him on the roof directly above the bank. They have looking to the sides there. We are right next to the 101 southbound onramp just south of 280. Police have just widened the perimeter so they have pushed us back because they are not sure he is armed with thinking else. We will keep you posted. The man died from his wounds. The woman was wounded in the arm and legs. Police officer used pepper spray to try to break up a crowd gathered at the crime scene. Investigators are searching for two suspects described as men in their 20s driving a burgundy colored car. Happening today apple launching its latest version of the iphone. This is what it looked like overnight in australia. People camped out to get their hands on the new phone. It is expected to be a very busy day for apple stores. Two new iphones going on sale today. Last night 13 people including a threeyearold boy were shot in a chicago park. It happened at a Basketball Court on the chicago south side. Witnesses say several men fired shots from a car before they sped away. That threeyearold boy reportedly is in Critical Condition after being shot in the head. Witnesses describe the chaos. I heard shots. His came over there is a lot of people down. All the other victims are in serious or stable condition. So far no arrests have been made. Police say the motive was probably gang related. On sunday president obama will attend a Memorial Service for the victims of the Washington Navy yard shooting. The president and First Lady Michelle Obama will visit the families of the victims. The president will also speak at the memorial. The white house wants to share in the nations pain after another mass shooting. Time is 5 07. S new poll shows a growing number of americans dont believe the government is doing job protecting the Second Amendment the right to bare arms. San leandros mayor has dropped the citys controversial plan to raise the flag of the peoples republic of china next month. Mayor Steven Cassidy says the public should have been able to weigh in before city hall took final action. On monday the city Council Voted to fly the chinese flag as a show of support for san leandros Chinese Community and show the city is open to chinese investments. But critics argue raising the flag would signal san leandro cop donees chinese how many rights vie human rights violations. Mayor reid could have received a 3500 fine but the Fair Political Practices Commission decided the violation was not intentional. Last year a Pension Reform Committee controlled by mayor reid funneled 100,000 to City Council Woman rose her reraise campaign. Mayor reid said he did nothing wrong because he was not the candidate. This move follows the separate deaths of three transients in the past month. The officer was on the scene of a crash tuesday at interstate 80 in the town of new castle. The cal trans worker was starting to pick up debris from the initial collision. He had no idea that another car was approaching. That is when the officer jumped into action. He drove his cruiser between the worker and approaching car. Collision happened. He was probably closer to that truck to me. He didnt just sit there and take the hit. He accelerated his vehicle to try to absorb some of the hit. Investigators say the on coming car was traveling about 65 miles an hour. It was going so fast that it plowed into the chp cruiser and still ended up hitting the cal trans Utility Vehicle but amazingly no one was injured. Menlo park in East Palo Alto could be adding tasers to it police force. They gave the stun guns to seven officers. While the police chief in East Palo Alto hopes to have the proposal by the end of the year in 2011. An investigation found although the weapons carry risks their use has resulted in fewer injuries to officers and suspects. Menlo park in East Palo Alto are the two departments to seek the use of tasers. Al qaeda militants attacked military barracks today killing at least 38 troops. The attack at dawn caught the soldiers off guard. The military in yemen has been fighting against a branch of al qaeda that is considered by the u. S. San Francisco Police were searching for a burglary suspect who may have tried to break into a bank. Well, now just within the past 20 minutes he was captured and taken into custody. Tara moriarty is out there now and tara, you can actually show us the arrest. Reporter yes. It was pretty incredible the way officers found the suspect. Joining me live right now is sergeant Wilfred Williams we have a bank and all we know this call came in after 4 00. An alarm was triggered . Yes. We received a call of a silent alarm. First officers responded to the scene. We saw nobody on the inside. But we set up a perimeter and reporter you found him in the vent right . Did he try top sneak away from the vent in a couple houses down. It appears he possibly gained access through the roof of bank of america. He then left through the roof again and he then jumped a couple buildings from the side of bank of america and at that point we set up a perimeter. We used help of the Fire Department to gain access to the roof. And we were able to fish him out on top of one of the roofs where he actually fell through the top of the roof. Reporter wow. Trying to get away but it didnt work out for him today. Didnt work out today. Reporter do we know how old he is . Who he is in right now hes 2530year old black male. Dont know who he is right now. The clock is still ticking toward another possible bart strike. The cooling off period ends in just 20 days. We have uncovered a Major New Development in this heated labor dispute. Ktvu news has learned that bart is actively training its managers. Ktvu Claudine Wong is joining us now to tell us how that training is tied to a warehouse on mayor island. Claudine. Reporter good morning. Yes. Among the possibilities that bart is considering if there is another strike would be to have managers operate trains on a skeletal train service. And weve learned that a couple of those trains that have been brought here to mayor island so that the managers can basically familiarize themselves with those operations. Apparently they are brought here a little earlier this week for that training. So how does this all come about . Well, bart train operators say that earlier this week someone actually saw a train rolling up the highway and that started people asking questions. They say they learned that at 5 00 in the morning on monday two train cars were quietly loaded on to a flat bed truck and taken away from the hayward maintenance yard which is very unusual. So what our ktvu crew did last night is approach bart to ask them if this training is being done. To prepare for the possibility of a long strike we feel its only responsible to plan ahead and think about skeletal train service. If they are seriously considering operating trains without certified train operator, experienced train operators, that is reckless and dangerous. Reporter a ktvu source gave us these pictures that reportedly show the train cars on the tracks and sitting in the warehouse. Atu Union Leaders are very upset about this. Heres a distinction they make. The Union Contract forbids anyone operating these trains while they are powered on a third rail. Bart, however says as long as these trains are not powered, they can run training on them with nonatu employees. They say they have about a dozen managers that used to be certified as train operators that are no longer operating the trains and they have some managers that are interested in being trained. Keep in mind there is three weeks left to the deadline to negotiate a contract bart believes an agreement can be worked out. Time is 5 37. We have new details about a deadly bicycle accident this week in san mateo county. We are learning that the victim was one of the top executives who helped make amazon. Com successful. Joy covey was the first chief Financial Officer with amazon. She is credited for taking amazon public. She left amazon in 2000 she was elected to jet blue board of directors. She was killed while cycling on skyline boulevard on wednesday. The chp says she was hit by a shipping van. The driver of the van is cooperating with investigators. Police in hayward still investigating the mysterious shooting of a tenyearold girl. Its happened early yesterday morning at the childs home. Now police say someone on the street fired several shots into the house. Wounding the child who was sound asleep in her bedroom. One of the bullets hit the girl in her lower back. She is expected to survive. The big question now is why family members waited more than five hours before they called 911. Earn trying to figure if they knew there was a shooting or if they pieced things together after the fact. How is she feel something she is feeling fine. What is your relationship to her . Im her father. The childs father did not explain the delay in calling 911 but police say the family is cooperating with investigators as the search goes on for suspects. Alexis employer says the background check on him revealed only a traffic violation. That is despite an incident in 2004 when Seattle Police arrested alexis for shooting out a cars tires in a fit of anger. Some are also questioning how aaron alexis was able to legally purchase a gun when he had been discharged from the navy in january of 2011 for a pattern of misconduct. Including a gun incident. A new bill in congress would allow veterans to own guns even after being found mentally incapacitated. Thousands of pounds of meat used in School Lunches is is being recalled by a meat company in the central valley. The recall effects 58,000 pounds of ground beef produced in kings county. The issue is the meat my contain small pieces of plastic. Usda has not heard of any reports of injuries but they did get complaints and that triggered an investigation. The meat was produced on april 1st. It was distributed to the National School lunch program. A plan to install a movable barrier on the Golden Gate Bridge is expected to get final approval today. The 26 million project is designed to prevent head on collisions on the Golden Gate Bridge. Once approved the barrier will be installed in late october or early november of next year. The work would require shutting down the bridge for 52 hours. A potential toll hike for the Golden Gate Bridge will also be looked at to help offset a growing debt problem. Bridge officials tell the marin independent journal they are projecting a 140 million deficit over the next five years. Right now is 5 41. Its the second mass shooting in a week. The Police Department immediately sent out a warning telling that person they were break the law. Police dont know who did it but they say that person could face fines or jail time if they are caught. This is not something you fool around with. This is not something you mess with. That is Public Safety and that is officers safety. The Antioch Police department now wants to move to an upgraded radio system with incrypted channels but that is expected to cost about 1 million. Contra costa county sheriffs deputies are looking for a gold toyota that may be linked to deadly shooting. Heres a picture of a similar car. The suspects vehicle is described adds a two door, 1999 toyota. It has the license plate number 5jlm717. Authorities say the car and its occupants may have ties to medesto, manteca, or oakland. Investigators say they believe the vehicle is connected to the deadly shooting of a 31year old oakland woman at the paradise skate roller rink on september 8th. Two other people suffered nonlife threatening injuries. The death toll is approaching 100 now in mexico following hits from hurricane manuel and ingrid. Manuel reached landfall yesterday along the pacific coast. Ingrid hit the gulf coast last weekend. Overturned big rig hauling bolders shut down a freeway onramp. The chp tells us the big rig collided with the car yesterday afternoon. 23 tons of rocks and 20 gallons of diesel spilled on to the road. It took crews more than four hours to clean up that scene. The cooling and the breeze will definitely pick up and it will feel very fall like. And fall starts on sunday. Some rain on the north coast could fall later today.
