There are no problems on the bridge and some of the road work that was there earlier is gone. There are no major problems on the lower deck either. This is a look at interstate 880 in oakland. Both directions moving very nicely. If you are driving into

westbound 580 so far so good. We had an earlier accident. That is gone and the traffic is look good from tracy to livermore to dublin. 5 01 lets go back to the desk. A young woman is dead. Another victim recovering from gunshot wounds after a late night shooting that happened in east oakland. Claudine wong is out there right now at opd headquarters. What is the latest on what happened . Reporter we went by the scene just about an hour and a half ago. It had been cleared. Police now back at headquarters. Were here now. Weve been talk together folks here. The investigation shifting from the gathering of evidence to putting all the pieces together. I want to take you to the scene so you can see what it looked like earlier this morning as police were gathering evidence. This is the 800 block of 100th avenue. Heres what we know. The two victims were both in their 20s. Both in a parked car around 11 30 last night when the shooters came up to the car and started firing. Its unclear if they walked up or drove up. The woman died at the scene. Pronounced dead there when

. The man survived but police say he is fighting for his life. He at last word was in critical but unstable condition and was in surgery in the last couple of hours. Its not clear how he was doing and at this point the motive is still unclear. This comes one day after
Oakland Police
announced the latest crack down on crime. This is not a new program. Operation cease fire has been tried before and it keeps coming back. Its now back again. Police hoping to find some success in stopping the violence. It basically works like this. Identify repeat offenders and gang members and work with them to change their lives or they will feel the full force of the law. Yesterday eight men were arrested. We are learning more and more about how these individual groups are is running. As far as making their money. Reporter investigators try to we know rifle rounds were found add the scene but we do not know why or if the victims were targeted. The area where this has happened police tell me is normally very quiet. Police tell me they dont get a lot of calls there. Residents here says one tour bus comes through the area every three minutes. All of whom were taking pictures and checking out iconic homes known as the painted ladies. Beurres tents say they have had enough and fighting for two years to force buses carrying nine or more people to stay away. Because they are tired of exhaust and congestion. Last year the city ordered tour buss to park on one specific corner but that

Back here at home in santa clara last night egyptian americans held a candle light vigil. They wore white to honor those killed in the protest. They say they dont support the political position, but they do say they support the right to freedom of speech. Whether or not i agree with their position, its important to honor the fact that they protested peacefully for it and they were killed for it. Time is 5 07. Closing arguments expected today from accused serial killer joseph naso in his murder trial. The 78yearold man is acting as his own lawyer. He is facing charges of murdering four prostitutes. They read from journal allegedly kept by naso that attacks on women dated back to the 1950s. More than 51,000 has been raised so far by friends of sandra coke to support her 15 yearold daughter. Sandra coke is the oakland woman her body was found in vacaville last friday. Supporters are hoping to raise 100,000 for the sandra coke fund at crowdrise. Com. And the man who had a relationship with coke in the past is a person of interest in her death. He is being held without bail on unrelated charges. The principal of
Palo Alto High School
says a streaking tradition on the campus has guilty to stop. This after boys stripped off their clothes and ran across campus. The school says its normally happens at the end of the year when seniors are about to graduate. Now the school says they will punish students for streaking on campus. Bay bridge construction crews have to race against time now to open the new eastern span. Oversight committee unanimously approved the deadline for the labor day weekend. The existing bridge will shut down on the wednesday before the weekend august 28th starting at 8 00 p. M. The span will open by 5 00 a. M. Tuesday september 3rd. While most of the construction is done, crews still need to install the temporary fix to the faulty bolts. Workers will also use the five day closure to align the bridge with the tunnel. Now his mother says hunter was playing at a friends house in antioch when one of the pit bulldogs knocked him down the stairs while the other dog mulled his face and arms. Lets take a look at westbound bay bridge, the traffic is only slow here at the toll plaza. There are no major problems. Minor slow at the toll plaza. No problem ons the bridge. If you driving on interstate 880, traffic here looks good. There are no major problems. Now lets go to steve. Thank you, sir. We have a layer of fog. Some has been coming down a little bit. There is what we call an inversion. Cooler, cooler, warm air. Its around 1,000 to 1200 feet. But the fog really that is why it doesnt go anywhere. Expect right around 1,000 to 1200 feet. The warm air aloft still there. And it sends that fog down. Cool down inland areas you need to get up around 2,000 to 2500 feet and it flies over the hills. Right now its a little tough. Some of that low cloud deck coming in is on the mild side. Some areas of fog. Pockets of fog. They are 64 to 84 by noon and very close to what we had. Most will be in the 80s. A lot of 60s and 70s closer to the water. San francisco stuck in a pattern here that is near average. Mid 60s for some. 50s for others. The wind is not that bad but it is picking up slightly for some. Most locations say calm. Even san jose saying calm. Hardly anything for sfo. System will sweep in here. Morning fog, sunny. Warm lows. Mainly 60s. Highs today 60s and 70s by the water or very, very low 80s. Here is sal. Steve, we have a big problem on the sunol grade. That is an overturned truck. Northbound 680 just before the road. This truck is completely overturned. The driver did get out walking around. But its going to be at least an hour. Maybe two before they can clear all the northbound lanes. Southbound is the commute direction. However, a lot of people will most likely take a look at this. It will be a problem for both directions. Obviously more northbound because all the lanes are blocked. They will have to take people off the freeway and put them back on again. I recommend using 880 as an alternate route. 880 to 238 to 580. I realize its the long way to go but at this point it will be the better option for you. Lets go to 880. That traffic is moving along very nicely. Bridge Oversight Committee<\/a> gave the green light yesterday. Allowing a temporary fix of the new spans faulty cracked vaults until workers can install a permanent steel saddle. And will mean a closure of the bay bridge. That will give crews to align the new 6. 4 billion bridge with a tunnel. And reroute and repave traffic lanes connecting the new span to the toll plaza.
