Tara Moriarty is joining us live now. Youre at
Oakland International airport. So this was a shock for some of the travelers showing up this morning. Reporter yeah it certainly was. A lot of them havent heard about it. Even though this problem began really yesterday. Passengers some of them were taking it in stride. They were being rerouted on to other flights. Some were not effected at all. A lot were very annoyed that is because ten flights had been canceled in oakland. Nine of them is departing. Yesterday we know southwest was forced to ground 128 planes. That is one fifth of its fleet after it discovered the misinspections. Passengers have been able to hop on to other flights. Many had to take layovers and out of the way cities are arriving at their destinations hours later than scheduled. As long as they land safely, we are okay. Where are you flying this morning . San antonio, texas. We got put on another flight. Reporter so where do you have to go between . We are going to l. A. And phoenix. I think there will be lessons that are being learned and its not going to be repeated. Thats what im hoping for. Reporter the misinspections involve hydraulic systems used to control the rudder. Southwest says when it discovered the lapse it took the planes out of service. And then in 2011, faa ordered extensive inspections of some of southwest easeledder 737s after a five foot hole burst open in one plane mid flight forcing an
Emergency Landing in arizona. Throughout the morning we will keep checking the board and let you know if we notice any changes. Im

Ktvu fox 2 janine de la vega is joining us live now. Youre at a dog park in sunnyvale. Telling us about a claim of toxic ingredients. What did you find out . That spokesman from purina told me this lawsuit that is filed against the company is completely baseless. This involves the beneful dry dog food line. But there is a man that says beneful dry dog food is why his dog died. That dog owner is the plaintiff in a
Class Action Lawsuit that was filed in u. S. District court in northern california. It states that the eight kinds of beneful dog food has caused internal bleeding, liver failure, vomiting, diarrhea, and kidney failure. The dog owner says he started buying beneful in late december or early january this year and gave it to his dog. Soon after he says all three of his dogs became sick and his bulldog died. The suit says that toxins in the dog food are to blame including propylene glycol. In the past four years there has been more than 3,000 online complaints with dogs becoming ill or dying after eating beneful. They say there is nothing wrong with beneful and millions of dogs eat their and as you medical examinerred, dave, we are here at the dog park. We did see something

Oakland Police department is reportedly close to complying with a long list of court order reforms. Back in 2003, the city of oakland agreed to implement 51 refuels in the wake of the oakland
Riders Police corruption scandal. The department is now complied with 48 of the mandates. They included uniformed mounted cameras, policy changes involving foot pursuits. Instead of jumping over fences to confront a suspect, the
Police Officers have set up a perimeter. They give suspects a chance to give up which leads to fewer injuries and lawsuits claiming police abuse. And at the end of this what the city gets is a
Police Department that treats its citizens fairly with respect. Behaves in a constitutional manner but also effective at reducing crime. Oakland
Police Actually turned to the city of detroit to learn how to comply with federal mandates. Over all crime in oakland is down and so are compliants of
Police Officer misconduct. Oaklands police chief is hoping to comply with all the mandates when the next report is due in april. Santa clara county board of supervisors is moving forward with a plan to buy a cell phone tracking system. The board agreed to allow the
Sheriffs Department to use federal grant money to buy a device called sting ray. But the
Sheriffs Department says it would only be used to locate the subject of an investigation or a missing person. Law enforcement groups in oakland, san jose, and fremont are already using a sting ray device. Your time is 6 40. Japan had another big earthquake. Well bring you all the latest information. When the driver got out to confront him, the man started punching and kicking the 60 yearold driver. We show this video to cab drivers in the city, they were troubled by what they saw on the tape. One driver told me he always reminds passengers that his surveillance cameras are rolling. You dont have to tell him hey, there is a camera here, be careful. You can be nice. Small guys there is a cam smile guys, there is a camera. And that
Surveillance Video shows several people walking by or driving by while the attack is going on and no one stops to help out. The driver that was beaten here had to be hospital hawaiied for various injuries but he is expected to be okay. The passenger wanted for this assault is described as hispanic between 2535 years old. Unless you are taking the car pool lane then you will get a better drive. Once we get on the bridge it looks okay. This is a 30 minute drive into
San Francisco. We are also looking at a problem in cordelia. Looking at
Contra Costa County highway four is slow. 680 slow from 242. And on marin county not a bad looking drive. Lets go to san jose now. Northbound 280 is getting a little bit slow. No major problems along that stretch. 6 48 todays weather with steve. A little cooler for most. We have a beautiful sunrise here. A couple high clouds. Fog out there. Low clouds. Petaluma says very foggy here. Oh zoom out. The weak system brushing us has increased the low cloud deck. So that will take a couple degrees off the high temps. Yesterday was crystal clear. Low clouds. Mostly sunny. Mild to warm. Away from the coast. A little cooler. Low over cast will be on the move tomorrow. Increasing clouds friday into saturday. It looks like a cold light rain maybe some thunderstorms out to the valley. Snow up in the sierra. Finally we will get some. It started the month off pretty good. We had two really good systems friday and again on sunday into monday. Since then we have shut the door. It looks like it will be it will be colder as well as we get into saturday and sunday. Some of the low cloud deck is tough to see. Most of the higher clouds stay south but you can see the leading edge move into the picture here but its still a couple days away. Over all we are looking for cold lows for some. Not as cold as yesterday. We had a lot of low 30s. Today its more upper 40s. Yesterday 40s and 50s for others. Sonoma at 38 degrees. 37 lake port. Healdsburg. Windsor. Sebastopol at 39. Hang win at 1700 feet is 45. Really the cold temperatures arent the biggest story. Its the next system that is coming out of texas. Snow there is going to be about 48 inches. Freezing rain or mix precip ahead of it. Deep south, ohio valley, all the way into the carolinas and then points north. It will be a mess. And also for denver. I mentioned denver because they are zeroing in on the snowiest february ever. Possibility of 38 inches of snow. They had 17 inches of snow this february. The record is 22. So they are very close to a record and i think they will get it. You can see that little ripple. That has enhanced the fog a little bit. So low clouds its cool to cold. But not as cold. Sunny, mostly sunny and mild. Mild to warm inland. Upper 60s and 70s there. But for other areas it will be in the low 60s. So if you are by the water a little bit cooler. 60s to 70s. Clear lake, also santa rosa. Also for pittsburgh, antioch, and brentwood. 66 oakland. 67 santa cruz. Same for san jose, saratoga at 68. Low 60s on the coast. Mid 60s on the peninsula. Fog on the increase thursday. Friday into saturday with some light rain but it will be a more of a snow event for the sierra. Which is good. They can definitely use it. Right now it is 6 51. And there was this is incredible story. Incredible video. A home completely destroyed in seconds. Coming up many 20 minutes well show you the video, more of that, and you have to see to believe a powerful gas explosion. But first an unlikely partnership. How snoop is helping a popular

Former marine has been found guilty of killing american sniper author chris kyle and his friend chad littlefield. The defense had argued that eddie routh was having a psychotic episode when he turned his weapon on kyle and littlefield in february of 2013. But prosecutors said that whatever episode routh suffered from was brought on by drinking and marijuana. It took jurors less than three hours to hand down the verdict and after the trial littlefields mother spoke to reporters outside the courthouse.
