and mild. i don't know if you heard rosemary say but you will not need your rain gear today. as we get toward traffic i want to remind you we are looking at the toll plaza. i want to remind you that traffic will be busy all day getting into san francisco. right now it is busy of course for the morning commute but later first pitch is at 5:07. that will be busy. trying to get into the city from the east bay this afternoon for game three of the worlds series. first home game at at & t park. let's move along to san francisco. same thing goes. northbound 101 will be very slow this afternoon trying to get out for friday evening rush hour. and also for people coming in for tonight's game remember parking is very expensive. the best way to get into san francisco and really if you are going anywhere in san francisco is public transportation. we look at the south bay map now, we don't have a lot going on. i want to remind you that tonight cal and oregon play at levi stadium. it's the first college football game they will play at levi stadium. keep that in mind 2:37 and highway 101 will be effected. i want to bring in tara moriarty who comes in here and joining me tara has something to show us. >> got my rally flag. and then i have my giants ring. i don't know if you can zoom in on that. that was from the last world series. that is what they handed out to the fans. that there. >> this is my world series ticket here. i actually sit right up there. i happen to sit right here. when i'm at the game one of my thing to do is yell obnoxious things. yeah. >> i sit by the opposite team's dugout so we get all the fly balls and we are the ones that heckle pitchers as they warm up. we like to feel like we make a difference in the game. if you pan to the right, you can see they are cleaning furiously the dug out area as we prep here for game three. in 11 hours we hope the giants will make some magic out on the field. we know they spent wednesday tight in kansas city after game two loss. after they landed at sfo it was straight to at & t park for batting practice. starting game three this evening will be pitcher tim hudson. the 39-year-old player is the oldest player on the giants and it will be his first world series game. >> it's good to be home. but we are not going to change how we play the game and i'm sure they are not either. every game is important when you are in a series. >> the cheapest ticket you can buy right now is standing room only at $554. if you want an actual seat you are looking at $600 or more starting in the bleachers. saturday series. a lot is happening around at & t park. this is some of the security detail coming in checking it out. every truck delivering supplies has to go through special security checks all contents are x-rayed. >> there has been increased scanning and security precautions during the course of the year. once we get into the post season, it does get rachetted up like everything else. >> the company running the ballpark concession says the tighter security doesn't bother them. they have already shipped in enough food, drinks, souvenirs for an estimated 44,000 people to last three straight games. and this means big -- we have barry bonds from the world series against the angels. >> giants fans are -- rob's grandfather named the for the fans are showing up at the shop. they want to take photos by the giant's sign and then get a hair cut. >> every city in the bay area, everybody here is feeling it. they are making songs and videos. it's a beautiful thing. >> beautiful thing. another san jose news all right here on ktvu channel 2. it is 6:07. also new this morning a woman was rushed to the hospital after being burned during a large house fire in milpitas. >> reporter: this family is lucky they made it out alive. when firefighters got here to this burning home, they found the first floor was filled with flames and then there were four family members all of them trapped up on the roof near the front part of the home. two of those family members were children. firefighters helped a couple of them down with the ladder. the other two jumped down and one of those family members a woman a grandmother suffered burns to her arm during the fire and taken to the hospital. but a battalion chief told me she is now stable. it was concentrated near the kitchen. firefighters say at this point they are not sure how it may have started. >> you know we don't know sure the company called an origin yet. but when we enter the structure it was adjacent to the toyy and the kitchen. this woman could have been seriously hurt. given how large the fire had grown by the time crews got here, they evacuated four homes nearby. neighboring homes about 20 people were forced to leave their homes until the fire was eventually knocked down. at this point the firefighters do not think this fire is suspicious. of course investigators will take a closer lookat it. >> all right. i'm sure we will find out a little bit later how this fire started. happening right now dozens of east bay workers for the garbage company waste management are walking a picket line. other workers are picketing in san leandro outside the company's building there. many workers are spanish speaking immigrants. these protestors clearly don't have the support of the local teamsters union. >> the thing is if they are going to strike, there is a process to go through. they have not done that. they have not talked to us or anything. >> it's still not clear if this morning's protest will effect today's garbage doctor has been diagnosed with ebola. 33-year-old craig spencer recently came back to the u.s. after treating ebola patients in west africa. health officials say dr. spencer didn't show any symptoms until yesterday when he developed a fever of 103. but he's been back in the u.s. since october 17th. in the days after he came back, he's been riding a subway, he took a taxi, even went bowling so he came in contact with a lot of people. spencer's fiance and two other peel that were in contact with him they have been quarantined. coming up at 6:45 ktvu katie utehs will have a lot more on how officials in new york say there is no need to panic. a young boy in fairfield is being called a hero after saving the life of his neighbor from a pit bull attack. >> he's an awesome young man. i'm privileged to have him as my neighbor. >> jonathan garcia heard his neighbor screaming for help. when he looked over the fence he saw a pit bull attacking her. he called 911. the dog ran away but was captured by animal control. prosecutors deciding whether to file charges against the chp officer who is accused of stealing nude cell phone photos off the phone of a drunk driving suspect. authorities served a search warrant two weeks ago. they gathered evidence that led to this scandal. the officer is accused of forwarding explicit photos from the dui suspect's phone to his phone. while booking the woman into the martinez county jail back in august. >> she has no idea where the photos are and when they may or may not appear at any time throughout the rest of her life. the anxiety associated with it is um bearable. >> the chp officer has been assigned to desk duties while this is investigating. a san francisco tour bus company is apologizing after a guide went on a racist tirade. it happened on her last day on the job and all caught on video. >> when you come to america, you got to asemilate a little bit. and here in america we don't eat turtles and frogs. >> the tour guide made that racist rant among others. san francisco mayor ed lee and supervisor dave chew are among those saying the company's apology is not enough. they are demanding workers for the tour bus company under go sensitivity training. let's check traffic right now. sal, i know you are at at & t park. you are at home there but you still know about our morning commute. >> absolutely. just standing here in the seats a lot of people are coming to today's game. it will billion just like another sell out game. we are so used to it. but there is also a lot of national media here. just talking to the good folks in kansas city you know the eyes of the nation will be focused on us. what i want you to know if you are coming here today use transit. parking is very expensive. just as it was last week. plan ahead. pretty good getting out of the area. getting up to your job in the valley. there is no problems on 280 and 101 and 85. you can see most of the southbound commute is looking pretty good. a couple red spots and yellow spots. when you see green, that means the traffic is moving along pretty well. bay bridge toll plaza that is. and that means any time after 2:00 or 3:00 we will have that commute coming into san francisco and traffic in the city south of market especially is going to be rough. nice mild weather out here by the way at at & t park. let's go to rosemary who has today's forecast. yes, if you have a ticket to today's game, you are in great shape. mostly sunny skies. mild weather in the forecast. i think it will be a little breezy for the second half of the afternoon at at & t park. it has to do with the wet weather that is coming our way. not for today but for your saturday. giving you a look at the satellite and radar we have low clouds up against the coastline. patchy fog reported and thick for some. half-moon bay reporting visibility down to a quarter mile. along the valley floor in and around santa rosa a little bit of patchy fog popping up here. this rain to the north will stay to the north. it will not bring us any wet weather for today. today will be hostly sunny and some of us will be a little warmer than what we had yesterday. i want to take us back. this is the system that will bring us rain and scattered showers behind it. as we get into the morning hours i will take you into saturday. here we are tomorrow morning. rain already falling all over the bay area. if you have early morning plans, expect to billion wet. expect the slick roads and expect you will need an umbrella. 7:00 in the morning it's crossing a little farther east. 8:00 we have it story. a breast cancer survivor that is also a big giant's fan from san jose she will fulfill a lifelong dream. she is going to her first world series game tonight. her name is eileen low. she was diagnosed with stage to breast cancer eight months ago. she has gone through a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. as a reward for staying strong during this fight, her niece taught bought her a pair of tickets to tonight's world series game and now her focus is is on her team. >> they come through in the end. it will be all around super exciting. >> she is the woman. she will be among the fans the giants invited to roll out the big american flag before the game starts tonight. she says during the game her seat may be up in the bleachers, but her heart will be out on the field. san francisco bay twitter has plans to develop a community learning center for low income and homeless people in the city. the twitter neighbor nest project connects twitter employees with less fortunate to teach them some tech skills. twitter teamed up with compass family services for this project. the nonprofit service employed more than 3500 low income or homeless families that live in san francisco. >> we want it to be a welcoming and nurturing environment. >> the neighbor nest learning center will be located at fox plaza on market street across from twitter's headquarters. the investment will cost the company $1 million over the course of the multiyear partnership. the center is scheduled to open sometime next summer. officials say it could save a police officer's life. that is real heavy. >> yeah. heading to the tunnel. that is a little heavy for drivers heading from oakland to san francisco. i'm not sure if there is something going on, but we will keep an eye on that. and also down in the south bay there is a few minor problems. over all though major freeways are looking pretty good. time is 6:33. back to baseball. still believing. the anticipation building for the giant's first home game of the world series. while a lot of people are spending big bucks to watch the game inside at & t park others have found a unique place to really enjoy the game. janine de la vega is joining us live. you are at mccovey cove and you've got a man story that is different from most. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, dave. right now it is quiet outside of at & t park but this place is going to be buzzing with excitement later on. fans are going to be rooting for the giants to beat the royals in game three. and one of the places where you can catch some of the fans is mccovey cove. just to give you an idea of what it will look like tonight here is video of the past where you see tons of kayaks are packed together in the water with giants fans. it's a lot of fun. all of these guys are keenly listening to the radio. listening to the game and trying to figure out where the ball will be hit. we caught up with one giant super fan who is known as mccovey dave. he has caught 17 giants home run flash balls and he's hoping to catch one tonight if it happens. >> i play mccovey cove like i'm an outfielder. any good outfielder positions themselves where it will land. being a math number guy i position my kayak where it will land. i study home run every player hits in their career and i solve for where the ball will land in the future. >> reporter: there has only been one world series giants ball hit into mccovey cove and that was hit by barry bonds. if it is hit again it will be hit anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000. so far though outside the park as i mentioned there are going to be a lot of fans out here later. there is a lot of local and national and media crews showed up. throughout the city there will be a lot of carpet to welcome major league baseball to the bay area. quite a show in the sky as some of the city's heavy hitters such as former mayor willie brown and larry bear were among the 2500 guests who wined and dined at an invitation only gala. san francisco mayor ed lee praised the giants for representing the city's hard work and community spirit. >> the entire organization from larry bear and all the investors it's a wonderful time for a city. i have to say i'm the luckiest mayor to be in san francisco. >> the gala featured a giant colored orange carpet. and there was also the spectacular fire works show over the waterfront to cap off the evening's festivities. time is 6:37. a woman in milpitas rushed to the hospital early this morning after being burned during a big house fire. ktvu alex savidge is joining us live now. you have more on this and also how a family escaped those flames. alex. >> reporter: dave, good morning to you. i want everybody to know the woman that was hurt in this house fire is in stable condition. we have been told. this was a dramatic rescue pulled off by milpitas firefighters. they found four family members trapped up on the roof. they were trying to get away from this fire. that was the only safe place they could find. for thes moved in and help -- firefighters moved in and help two people jump down and brought two down on the ladder. but the grandmother suffered burns to her arms. she will be okay. you can see the extensive damage done to the home that son farm crest street. the fire started just about 3:00 in the morning. it's unclear if the smoke detectors were working in the house but a battalion chief told me given the size of the fire it's a good thing everyone woke up when they did. >> they are very, very lucky. they are very lucky. they are probably in the one last occupiable space the home had. >> reporter: and this fire was so large, extra crews had to be called in from the san jose fire department to help out. there was also 20 people in some of the neighboring homes had to be evacuated just in case this fire spread to the other homes. after the fire was knocked down, crews did find the family dog dead inside. the fire was concentrated near the kitchen. they are not sure exactly how it started. we are live in milpitas alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. >> thanks. police in the east bay say seven people were hurt when a car crashed right into a popular mexican restaurant. it happened yesterday evening on village parkway. the 56-year-old driver told police she accidentally stepped on the gas instead of the break. you can see her convertible there damaged inside the restaurant. driver and six customers were take tonight hospital. two suffered serious injuries. more now on our continuing coverage of that shooting rampage in ottawa, canada when parliament reconvened a day after a gunman ran through their halls lawmakers paid tribute to the sergeant at arms who stopped the attack kevin vickers was in his oversoon wednesday. he heard the shooting in the hallway. went out into that hallway and shot and killed the gunman. canada's prime minister says canada will not be intimidated by terrorists. >> we will be judge lent but we will not -- we will be vigilant but we will not run scared. as for the business of government, here we are in our seats, in our chamber. >> that gunman identified as a 32-year-old canadian citizen recently converted to islam and trying to get a passport to go to syria. police in new york are investigating whether an attack on four police officers was an act of terrorism. police say a man with a hatchet came from behind a bus stop and hit one of the officers in the arm. as he raised the hatchet to strike again, the two officers fired shots killing the man. both were rushed to the hospital. one of the officers is in critical condition this morning. authorities believe the suspect may have been stocking the officers before the attack. officers have been told to be on high alert in that area. time is 6:41. there is a new study out. this one may make you go ewww. the bay area city on a new list of the rattiest places in america. >> doctor traveled across new york city before testing positive for ebola. why health officials say this case is different than the infection that turned deadly in dallas. >> i want to give you another look at highway 24. you can see quite a backup heading northbound toward the tunnel. jj told me there is an accident in central lafayette. a tow truck is on the way but no injuries. - ( helicopter whirring ) - ( congressional hearing examing the federal governments response to the ebola virus here in the u.s.. the hearing will also examine whether the government is adequately training and equipping front line health care workers and military personalities. you can can see a number of medical personnel there in the audience. and that is elijah cummings there at the hearing. we are looking again live. they are talking about people who may have come in contact with ebola and traveled to and from west africa. we will be monitoring this hearing in our newsroom throughout the morning. now the hearing comes as the centers for disease control and health care officials in new york city work to contain the virus and calm fears after a doctor tested positive for ebola. ktvu katie utehs is in our newsroom with the details of that case and what is being done here in the bay area to prepare. >> we may be on the other side of the country from this latest case. but just last night kizer sent a notice to its members saying health care workers are up to date on the latest treatment and containment standards. the new york case involves a 33- year-old doctor who returned last week from west africa where he treated the ebola patients with an organization doctors without borders. craig spencer started showing symptoms yesterday and tested positive for the virus. the doctor took his temperature twice daily but before he registered a fever spencer jogged through new york city, took the subway, and even went bowling in brooklyn. still new york leaders say do not panic this case is different than the deadly case in dallas because new york has been training for weeks. >> sot workers feel they have -- so the workers feel they have the training, they have gone through the protocols. we then had eight hospitals designated. belvieu is one of them. as the receiving hospitals for this situation. >> new york leaders reassuring spencer. he was taken to the hospital and taken by a fully trained crew. the four people he came into contact with are in quarantine as well. in my next report, we'll have more on when the world health organization expects to have an ebola vaccine. >> thank you. it's now 6:47. problems as traffic is moving along well. espn banner is walking by, you can't see that but that is cool. traffic will be okay at the toll plaza. you can see traffic is moderately heavy as you drive. just about 15-20 minute delay. all kidding aside i want to warn you getting into the city because of today's world series game will be different. it's a friday. a lot of people come to the city. we will have a lot of people here. let's go to contra costa county where 680 south and northbound is a little slow there. i want to move the maps into the silicon valley. we have a little slowing on 101 get into palo alto and sunnyvale. 280 does not look bad. if you are going to your job there in the valley, just make sure that you know things are getting a little slower. weather is pretty good out here at at & t park. and it seems pretty mild. let's go to rosemary. yes we have great weather in store for today. mostly sunny skies. temperatures warming into the 70s. that in a nutshell. it will be a little breezy for some as we get into the second half of the day. and it's because of a system that is working its way closer to the bay area. let's start out at what is happening right now. a weekend always in view. we are wet on saturday. we are drying out on sunday and it will be dry for the start of the workweek. >> there is an event in concord. they are encouraging people to come out throughout the rest of the morning just for you. welcome back to the morning news. a san francisco tour bus ran over and killed a woman walking in a crosswalk and utahaned right outside city hall. witnesses say the motorized cable car tour bus hit the woman as she walked across the street yesterday morning. she worked in the city's controller office. people that live and work in the area say despite clear pedestrian markings and neon signs, that area have very dangerous. now police say they will wait for the results of their investigation before deciding if they are going to arrest or even cite the tour bus driver. a silicon valley start-up company has developed a new technology. one that gives police dispatchers the ability to track how a police officer uses a gun. the latest device by yard arm technology fit into the handle of most police guns and uses blue tooth to connect to the officer's smart phone. it tracks where that gun is, when it's taken out of its holster, when it's fired, and the direction it's fired. two law enforcement agencies are testing it now including the santa cruz county sheriffs department. >> we are going to be able to see in realtime if our officers are in trouble and they are unable to ask for assistance. that is the worst nightmare for any police officer in the field. >> now right now yard arm technologies is paying for the testing. the company says if the trials go well, they hope to make the product available to other departments next year. in election 2014 news the american cancer society wants governor brown to give back thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the tobacco industry. the cancer society says governor brown has accepted contributions from phillip morris for their campaign and committee supporting propositions one and two. the cancer society says that about $100,000. >> taking money from tobacco industry legitimizes a public health menace which should not be part of the political process. >> the american cancer society has challenged candidates in the november election to refuse tobacco campaign contributions. so far more than 50 candidates have vowed not to accept money from tobacco companies. here's a nice story, the 13- year-old boy from napa the one who sufficient id major injuries in that big earthquake in august, he got a special treat at oracle arena in oakland. and mild. i don't know if you heard rosemary say but you will not need your rain gear today. as we get toward traffic i want to remind you we are looking at the toll plaza. i want to remind you that traffic will be busy all day getting into san francisco. right now it is busy of course for the morning commute but later first pitch is at 5:07. that will be busy. trying to get into the city from the east bay this afternoon for game three of the worlds series. first home game at at & t park. let's move along to san francisco. same thing goes. northbound 101 will be very slow this afternoon trying to get out for friday evening rush hour. and also for people coming in for tonight's game remember parking is very expensive. the best way to get into san francisco and really if you are going anywhere in san francisco is public transportation. we look at the south bay map now, we don't have a lot going on. i want to remind you that tonight cal and oregon play at levi stadium. it's the first college football game they will play at levi stadium. keep that in mind 2:37 and highway 101 will be effected. i want to bring in tara moriarty who comes in here and joining me tara has something to show us. >> got my rally flag. and then i have my giants ring. i don't know if you can zoom in on that. that was from the last world series. that is what they handed out to the fans. that opposite team's dugout so we get all the fly balls and we are the ones that heckle pitchers as they warm up. we like to feel like we make a difference in the game. if you pan to the right, you can see they are cleaning furiously the dug out area as we prep here for game three. in 11 hours we hope the giants will make some magic out on the field. we know they spent wednesday tight in kansas city after game two loss. after they landed at sfo it was straight to at & t park for batting practice. starting game three this evening will be pitcher tim hudson. the 39-year-old player is the oldest player on the giants and it will be his first world series game. >> it's good to be home. but we are not going to change how we play the game and i'm sure they are not either. every game is important when you are in a series. >> the cheapest ticket you can buy right now is standing room only at $554. if you want an actual seat you are looking at $600 or more starting in the bleachers. saturday series. a lot is happening around at & t park. this is some of the security detail coming in checking it out. every truck delivering supplies has to go through special security checks all contents are x-rayed. >> there has been increased scanning and security precautions during the course of the year. once we get into the post season, it does get rachetted up like everything else. >> the company running the ballpark concession says the tighter security doesn't bother them. they have already shipped in enough food, drinks, souvenirs for an estimated 44,000 people to last three straight games. and this means big -- we have barry bonds from the world series against the angels. >> giants fans are -- rob's grandfather named the for the fans are showing up at the shop. they want to take photos news all right here on ktvu channel 2. it is 6:07. also new this morning a woman was rushed to the hospital after being burned during a large house fire in milpitas. >> reporter: this family is lucky they made it out alive. when firefighters got here to this burning home, they found the first floor was filled with flames and then there were four family members all of them trapped up on the roof near the front part of the home. two of those family members were children. firefighters helped a couple of them down with the ladder. the other two jumped down and one of those family members a woman a grandmother suffered burns to her arm during the fire and taken to the hospital. but a battalion chief told me she is now stable. it was concentrated near the kitchen. firefighters say at this point they are not sure how it may have started. >> you know we don't know sure the company called an origin yet. but when we enter the structure it was adjacent to the toyy and the kitchen. this woman could have been seriously hurt. given how large the fire had grown by the time crews got here, they evacuated four homes nearby. neighboring homes about 20 people were forced to leave their homes until the fire was eventually knocked down. at this point the firefighters do not think this fire is suspicious. of course investigators will take a closer lookat it. >> all right. i'm sure we will find out a little bit later how this fire started. happening right now dozens of east bay workers for the garbage company waste management are walking a picket line. other workers are picketing in san leandro outside the company's building there. many workers are spanish speaking immigrants. these protestors clearly don't have the support of the local teamsters union. >> the thing is if they are going to strike, there is a process to go through. they have not done that. they have not talked to us or anything. >> it's still not clear if this morning's protest will effect today's garbage officials in new york say there is no need to panic. a young boy in fairfield is being called a hero after saving the life of his neighbor from a pit bull attack. >> he's an awesome young man. i'm privileged to have him as my neighbor. >> jonathan garcia heard his neighbor screaming for help. when he looked over the fence he saw a pit bull attacking her. he called 911. the dog ran away but was captured by animal control. prosecutors deciding whether to file charges against the chp officer who is accused of stealing nude cell phone photos off the phone of a drunk driving suspect. authorities served a search warrant two weeks ago. they gathered evidence that led to this scandal. the officer is accused of forwarding explicit photos from the dui suspect's phone to his phone. while booking the woman into the martinez county jail back in august. >> she has no idea where the photos are and when they may or may not appear at any time throughout the rest of her life. the anxiety associated with it is um bearable. >> the chp officer has been assigned to desk duties while this is investigating. a san francisco tour bus company is apologizing after a guide went on a racist tirade. it happened on her last day on the job and all caught on video. >> when you come to america, you got to asemilate a little bit. and here in america we don't eat turtles and frogs. >> the tour guide made that racist rant among others. san francisco mayor ed lee and supervisor dave chew are among those saying the company's apology is not enough. they are demanding workers for the tour bus company under go sensitivity training. let's check traffic right now. sal, i know you are at at & t park. you are at home there but you still know about our morning commute. >> absolutely. just standing here in the seats a lot of people are coming to today's game. it will billion just like another sell out game. we are so used to it. but there is also a lot of national media here. just talking to the good folks in kansas city you know the eyes of the nation will be focused on us. what i want you to know if you are coming here today use transit. parking is very expensive. just as it was last week. plan ahead. spots and yellow spots. when you see green, that means the traffic is moving along pretty well. bay bridge toll plaza that is. and that means any time after 2:00 or 3:00 we will have that commute coming into san francisco and traffic in the city south of market especially is going to be rough. nice mild weather out here by the way at at & t park. let's go to rosemary who has today's forecast. yes, if you have a ticket to today's game, you are in great shape. mostly sunny skies. mild weather in the forecast. i think it will be a little breezy for the second half of the afternoon at at & t park. it has to do with the wet weather that is coming our way. not for today but for your saturday. giving you a look at the satellite and radar we have low clouds up against the coastline. patchy story. a breast cancer survivor that is also a big giant's fan from san jose she will fulfill a lifelong dream. she is going to her first world series game tonight. her name is eileen low. she was diagnosed with stage to breast cancer eight months ago. she has gone through a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. as a reward for staying strong during this fight, her niece taught bought her a pair of tickets to tonight's world series game and now her focus is is on her team. >> they come through in the end. it will be all around super exciting. >> she is the woman. she will be among the fans the giants invited to roll out the big american flag before the game starts tonight. she says during the game her seat may be up in the bleachers, but her heart will be out on the field. san francisco bay twitter has plans to develop a community learning center for low income and homeless people in the city. the twitter neighbor nest project connects twitter employees with less fortunate to teach them some tech skills. twitter teamed up with compass family services for this project. the nonprofit service employed more than 3500 low income or homeless families that live in san francisco. >> we want it to be a welcoming and nurturing environment. >> the neighbor nest learning center will be located at fox plaza on market street across from twitter's headquarters. the investment will cost the company $1 million over the course of the multiyear partnership. the center is scheduled to open sometime next summer. officials say it could save a police officer's life. for the giant's first home game of the world series. while a lot of people are spending big bucks to watch the game inside at & t park others have found a unique place to really enjoy the game. janine de la vega is joining us live. you are at mccovey cove and you've got a man story that is different from most. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, dave. right now it is quiet outside of at & t park but this place is going to be buzzing with excitement later on. fans are going to be rooting for the giants to beat the royals in game three. and one of the places where you can catch some of the fans is mccovey cove. just to give you an idea of what it will look like tonight here is video of the past where you see tons of kayaks are packed together in the water with giants fans. it's a lot of fun. all of these guys are keenly listening to the radio. listening to the game and trying to figure out where the ball will be hit. we caught up with one giant super fan who is known as mccovey dave. he has caught 17 giants home run flash balls and he's hoping to catch one tonight if it happens. >> i play mccovey cove like i'm an outfielder. any good outfielder positions themselves where it will land. being a math number guy i position my kayak where it will land. i study home run every player hits in their career and i solve for where the ball will land in the future. >> reporter: there has only been one world series giants ball hit into mccovey cove and that was hit by barry bonds. if it is hit again it will be hit anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000. so far though outside the park as i mentioned there are going to be a lot of fans out here later. there is a lot of local and national and media crews showed up. throughout the city there will be a lot of the investors it's a wonderful time for a city. i have to say i'm the luckiest mayor to be in san francisco. >> the gala featured a giant colored orange carpet. and there was also the spectacular fire works show over the waterfront to cap off the evening's festivities. time is 6:37. a woman in milpitas rushed to the hospital early this morning after being burned during a big house fire. ktvu alex savidge is joining us live now. you have more on this and also how a family escaped those flames. alex. >> reporter: dave, good morning to you. i want everybody to know the woman that was hurt in this house fire is in stable condition. we have been told. this was a dramatic rescue pulled off by milpitas firefighters. they found four family members trapped up on the roof. they were trying to get away from this fire. that was the only safe place they could find. for thes moved in and help -- firefighters moved in and help two people jump down and brought two down on the ladder. but the grandmother suffered burns to her arms. she will be okay. you can see the extensive damage done to the home that son farm crest street. the fire started just about 3:00 in the morning. it's unclear if the smoke detectors were working in the house but a battalion chief told me given the size of the fire it's a good thing everyone woke up when they did. >> they are very, very lucky. they are very hurt when a car crashed right into a popular mexican restaurant. it happened yesterday evening on village parkway. the 56-year-old driver told police she accidentally stepped on the gas instead of the shooting rampage in ottawa, canada when parliament reconvened a day after a gunman ran through their halls lawmakers paid tribute to the sergeant at arms who stopped the attack kevin vickers was in 32-year-old canadian citizen recently converted to islam and trying to get a passport to go to syria. police in new york are investigating whether an attack on four police officers was an act of terrorism. police say a man with a hatchet came from behind a bus stop and hit one of the officers in the arm. as he raised the hatchet to strike again, the two officers fired shots killing the man. both were rushed to the hospital. one of the officers is in critical condition this morning. authorities believe the suspect may have been stocking the officers before the attack. officers have been as the centers for disease control and health care officials in new york city work to contain the virus and calm fears after a doctor tested positive for ebola. ktvu katie utehs is in our newsroom with the details of that case and what is being done here in the bay area to prepare. >> we may be on the other side of the country from this latest case. but just last night kizer sent a notice to its members saying health care workers are up to date on the latest treatment and containment standards. the new york case involves a 33- year-old doctor who returned last week from west africa where he treated the ebola patients with an organization doctors without borders. craig spencer started showing symptoms yesterday and tested positive for the virus. the doctor took his temperature twice daily but before he registered a fever spencer jogged through new york city, took the subway, and even went bowling in brooklyn. still new york leaders say do not panic this case is different than the deadly case in dallas because new york has been training for weeks. >> sot workers feel they have -- so the workers feel they have the training, they have gone through the protocols. we then had eight hospitals designated. belvieu is one of them. as the receiving hospitals for this situation. >> new york leaders reassuring spencer. he was taken to the hospital and taken by a fully trained crew. the witnesses say the motorized cable car tour bus hit the woman as she walked across the street yesterday morning. she worked in the city's controller office. people that live and work in the area say despite clear pedestrian markings and neon signs, that area have very dangerous. now police say they will wait for the results of their investigation before deciding if they are going to arrest or even cite the tour bus driver. a silicon valley start-up company has developed a new technology. one that gives police dispatchers the ability to track how a police officer uses a gun. the latest device by yard arm technology fit into the handle of most police guns and uses blue tooth to connect to the officer's smart phone. it tracks where that gun is, when it's taken out of its holster, when it's fired, and the direction it's fired. two law enforcement agencies are testing it now including the santa cruz county sheriffs department. >> we are going to be able to see in realtime if our officers are in trouble and they are unable to ask for assistance. that is the worst nightmare for any police officer in the field. >> now right now yard arm technologies is paying for the testing. the company says if the trials go well, they hope to make the product available to other departments next year. in election 2014 news the american cancer society wants governor brown to give back thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the tobacco industry. the cancer society says governor brown has accepted contributions from phillip morris for their campaign and committee
