the story and you talk to a neighbor who said they saw everything. >> yes, saw the flames, also heard a big loud boom coming from the house, just a very sad situation for this family who lives on woodridge place and we are told a mother grandmother and two children lived there and they are down the street where you see all the flashing lights in tears and that's because the house they lived in is just badly damage and they are all wrapped up in blankets being consoled by the neighbors. let's go to a picture, this is a picture taken by the police department when they arrived on woodridge place, this is on fremont boulevard we are told it it had started in the garage and also ended up spreading to an adjacent house and that did get some damage on its side. they were able to escape before firefighters arrived. a family friend was with the family of four who also escaped. here is what a neighbor said she heard. >> i heard a really loud boom and when i came outside, the flames were really high, all of these fire trucks were here, the neighbor across the street, her daughter saw the flames outside the window and they called 911. they were able to take their little dog and that dog escaped safely and fire officials tell us two other dogels died in this fire and again the family is devastated because they lost two of their be loved pets. they are doing some mop up, they don't know what caused it, they didn't hear any smoke alarms and again they smelled smoke and heard some explosions in the garage and that will be investigated when they get somebody to do that. made it out in time. live where the fire happened and more on what is next. >> good morning, homeless people had been staying and firefighters are just not sure if somebody may have been trapped during this fire. you can see right now there are crews still on the scene as we speak. as soon as it is safe, rescuers will be going to see if they can check if there is anybody inside there looking for potential people. the building used to be a television studio for ktvu channel 2 morning -- for k tv but they were living there for several years and it turned areas of the building into their private apartments. that woman said some people used camping stoves and small propane thanks but she doesn't think that is what started the fire. it was truly chaos trying to get them out of the building. >> they came running down screaming fire, fire and we saw the smoke and everybody just panicked and we all just made sure everybody was out and we tried to get all of the dogs got out. >> firefighters again just can't be sure because when they first arrived, the walls had collapsed and that made it too dangerous to go inside. there are reports this fire was started intentionally and street. it happened near pacific avenue, now chp thinks a man was hit, a 62-year-old man had been drink willing in the area and ran across the road which is when the car hit him. the driver said there was no time to stop. they could be available as soon as today for a woman who disappeared. search crews found the body of a woman at a steep ravine. they remembered seeing somebody matching her description several days ago and her body shows no obvious signs of room what. >> another problem on the new span of the bay bridge, rust. rust has been found on steel rods connected to the lone  suspension cable that wraps around the bridge. a bay brent person says there is no concern about it. they reportedly warned them that some of the weld could crack. they did not fit together once they were delivered. they allowed them to meet lower safety standards to weld those sections together and while design engineers were not worried they were concerned about quake damage and the frequency of you see all the flashing lights standing by. and the family is across the street they are wrapped up in plank kits and they are now mourning the loss of two of their dogs. here is a picture the fremont fire department took, shortly before they arrived near fremont. flames were shooting out, 25 firefighters were on the scene and they were dousing that. two cars in the driveway caught fire. the family was able to escape it it was a grandmother and her daughter. she heard a loud boom and so did the family. >> my mom, she heard a noise in her garage and you know went to look and it was -- the fire had already started and she called 911 right away. >> 4 minutes to actually get the fire under control. they were able to protect some of the belongings, but lots of heavy damage to the front of the house when i spoke with one of the family members, even though she saw flames, they just quickly ran out of the house and again they did loose a lot of their belongings and they were able to save one dog and escape with the other two dogs died in the fire. the fire did spread to that house so there is some damage to that wall. but again as far as the cause, they will determine how this all started. janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 morning news. >> now, they are looking for the cause of a massive fire that destroyed several businesses on friday. you can see for yourself, there is not much left besides charred wood and ashes. a brick wall that was 4 feet thick saved most of their business and they were opening to reopen by the middle of the week. >> there was nothing to rule out until we can rule it out. >> the exact figure that will not be known until later in the investigation. santa clara police shot and killed a woman after she charged at them with a baseball park a woman called 911 who made threats to them and others. that is when they opened fire saying they feared for their safety. the incident is still under investigation. they plan on filing a lawsuit police responded about a man with a gun and when they asked him to show his hands he brought out what looked like a gun, it turned out it was a taser. >> the line star linebacker, alden smith was area rested incident in miami including collin kaepernick and they are calling the the incident. he entered a not guilty plea to hit-and-run to felony possession of brass knuckles in san jose. the jewish community center is increasing security in response to the fatal shootings of three people in kansas. we are learning new information about the suspected gunman in yesterday's shootings. 73-year-old paternity and her husband is not considered a suspect. they accused somebody of stabbing an employee. she was seen stabbing the man several times. police say it's not clear why vasquez stabbed the man. she left before police got there but was arrested at a family members' home in dublin. police are are looking for the bear that malled a woman. she went out to search for her two children after spotting five bears outside her home when one bear stood up and started to mall her. she was able to get away and there was two bears so me and my sister was knocking on the two doors and i went in
