Ii. The british people have given us a very clear instruction, and i know that we, in politics, will work calmly, cooperatively, and consensually to implement that instruction from the people. Reporter the result a shock which will lead to the departure of british Prime Minister David Cameron. He said he will leave office by october. I do not think it would be right for me to try to be the captain that steers our country to its next destination. Reporter american politicians keeping a close watch on the referendum. Presumptive democratic president ial nominee Hillary Clinton a supporter of keeping the e. U. Intact. Her stance echoing that of the obama administration. I want to assure all of you in this room that americas special bond with the United Kingdom runs deep and it will endure. Reporter republican candidate donald trump praising the outcome while in the u. K. To check on two of his golf courses in scotland. I see a parallel in the United States. People want to see borders. Reporter other politicians on the continent are calling for votes of their own. In london, amy kellogg, fox news. President obama is at Stanford University right now, and about an hour ago he responded to britains historic decision to leave the european union. He said he is disappointed, but the move wont change the relationship between the u. K. And the United States. While the u. K. s relationship with the e. U. Will change, one thing that will not change is the special relationship that exists between our two nations. That will endure. The e. U. Will remain one of our indispensable partners. Our Nato Alliance will remain a cornerstone of global security. President obama says he spoke with british Prime Minister David Cameron this morning and said he is confident the u. K. Is committed to an orderly transition out of the e. U. A live look at the big board. The dow down 544 points as we approach within the last hour here before the closing bell. The nasdaq is down 188 points. The s p 500 is down 67 points. Joining us now live on the phone is wealth and Financial Advisor george nichiti. Good afternoon, first of all. Hello. How are you during this stressful time . Yes, it is, indeed. How worried shoot average investor be about their 401 k . Lets be clear. This is not an economic problem, even though it looks terrible today. This is a political problem. David cameron resigned today. The new parliament will be formed. It wont be until october the u. K. Will initiate rule 50 which allows them to disengage from the european union. As far as the 401 k , most workers are diversified. And so they really cant react and try to be a hero. The market was up a lot yesterday. Of course, its down a lot today. Then we have the weekend to kind of relax and regroup. I expect monday things will start to calm because, again, this is more of a political problem and the market doesnt like any change. So those of us that have our 401 k plans, as long as you are diversified and maybe you want to you may want to want to underrate europe to some extent. Europe is not going to lose money. They get about 50 of their gdp from the european union. So trust me. They are not going to put that at risk. George, what do you know about job security over the next two years in regards to specifically, i guess, u. S. Companies with operations in london . You talk about london being such a stronghold in the financial world. What do you think will happen with these u. S. Companies there . Well, i dont think the trades of goods and services is really going to change. The negative part could be with the dollar. We hope it could stabilize, and it has been. Now the dollar is stronger against the sterling. So if that continued, that would certainly be a threat because our exports would be more expensive and that could hurt our global multinational companies. But i dont think so. I think that when it comes to managing currencies, i think after the emotional part gets taken care of, the pragmatic part will come in and we will see the currency stable. I think over a long term we dont expect it to be much of an effect. We expect to see companies do well in the second quarter. Talk to us a little bit about why you think we saw the dow and markets around the world drop the way they did in response to this news. Was it mostly just that there was a lot of surprise about the outcome and that got investors rattled a bit . Well, exactly. Yesterday we thought the vote was going to stay in the european union. Today we dont. I mean, we really are on a knifes edge depending which way it was gonna go. So the markets, not our economies, but the markets do not like change. When we have a change like this, its substantial. Its fear of the unknown. This is going to take time to roll out. And again this is simply a referendum. These are the people, you know, deciding 50 that we want to stay and 50 we want to go. Its gonna take two years for this to roll out. And the u. K. Is not gonna its their decision, but theyre not gonna hurt their economy. They are going to try to enhance the economy. They think this is the right way to go. We have a political problem in other countries in the european union. Will they be asking for a referendum. Hope you can relax this weekend. There is no relaxing. All right. Thank you. Thank you. We want to get to some developing news out of Central California where firefighters are still trying to get a handle on a fastmoving wildfire there. It exploded overnight in size. It has now burned more than 8,000 acres. 100 houses have been destroyed. 1,500 more homes remain threatened at this hour. That means mandatory evacuations and road closures are in place. It was like driving into the apocalypse. It was driving into hell. We learned that three firefighters suffered smoke inhalation battling the flames. The heat is making it hard for firefighters because temperatures are going to be about 100 degrees this upcoming weekend. You can see in that interview with that come, hear the wind through the microphone. Windy conditions still . Right. Its going to be rough out there. Ref a red flag warning already in place. That goes to tomorrow. A look at the graphic, can you see it is widespread from Santa Barbara to los angeles. Kern county goes until tomorrow for los angeles. We know by red flag warning that means very dry, very gusty, very hot. The next graphic i want to show you shows you where they are expected to go to the. 105 degrees for some of the inland areas and into the valley. Relative humidity 10 . Thats critically dry. 8 for some. Those gusts could reach 50 miles per hour. So again, as we know, weather conditions definitely could help or hinder in this for today. Not going to help at all with dry, gusty conditions. This is going to burn that much faster and the winds can start new spot fires. Thanks. All right. In San Francisco big weekend coming up. Plus, could filmmaker george lucas be eying the bay area once again as a possible spot for his new museum . The latest on the scrapped plans in the city of chicago. Welcome back. A sergeant cleared of wrongdoing. His girlfriend transcribed witness interviews in as many as ten cases. Officials say his girlfriend was given cds of audio recordings but never saw any other documents. Seven of the cases have been completed. Already three of them are still pending. Meanwhile, the Oakland Police department is still investigating other alleged misconduct from racist Text Messages to allegations that officers had sex this comes as the department is without a police chief. Crime reporter henry lee here now. You spoke with the city administrator about whats next in the process . Thats right. The department is being run by the city administrator now. She has a lot on her plate. She is also trying to find leakers. Reporter the city administrator and acting assistant chief David Downing addressed officers at the Police Substation in east oakland. Downing is the highest Ranking Member of the force. He is in charge of daytoday operations and reports to landreth. I asked her about the search for a new chief. We do not have an individual in mind. We want to take the time to pick the right person for this moment, for this department, that its somebody who is going to be the right fit. We are not going to rush it. Reporter although the mayor wants someone from the outside to run the department, landreth says she is open to internal candidates. As the city continues to look for a chief, they have hired an outside investigator to find whoever is leaking confidential information to the media. It is not to stop whistleblowers from coming forward, but really its to make sure that we can uphold the integrity of these investigations. Reporter civil rights Attorney Says he doesnt buy it. I think its absurd. I think its an amazing waste of public funds for the mayor and the city administrator to be worrying about people leaking information to the public and the media. I mean, to me this thing seems almost nixonesque. Clearly, city officials have their hands full. We are trying to figure out when the next chief will be named. Interesting to hear the mayor, she was adamant, we heard her say she wants an outsider to come in and get some of these reforms done. The city administrator is opening to it. The key question is whether none in opd wants this job. For that matter, anybody. How about richmond chief chris magnus . He is dedicated in ted cruz. He is dedicated in tucson. He would not rule out helping oakland find a chief. Out of all the things going on, as dan siegel mentioned in your piece about looking for the sources, looking for the leakers, that thats on the top of their list, i guess . Yeah. Because it is against the law as a sworn Police Officer these your job to get the individuals to tell us information as a source. They are hunting them out . I am sure they may think thats City Employees doing the leaking. They say there is a leak investigation. Yeah, tell me whats going on. All right. Thank you. Lets bring in Rosemary Orozco on that weekend forecast. So far so good here . Yeah. The clouds have cleared and we have an enjoyable day out there. But that will begin to change as we get into the weekend. In fact, already picking up on a northeasterly breeze in areas around fairfield. That will help to drive the temperatures as we get into the afternoon. The warmer weekend in store with the 60s and 70s at the coast. 70s and 80s around the bay. 90s inspected for the inland communities. Once this pattern takes shape looks like its going to stick around through the weekend and beyond. We could have that possibility of thick fog because when the ridge of High Pressure begins to compress and condense, that marine layer sort of swishes it closer to the coast. As we get into the evening hours going to be a great night at the ballgame for the giants to play. 62 degrees. A southwesterly breeze. Partly sunny to partly cloudy skies expected there. So it shouldnt be too bad at all. Temperatures for the afternoon around the bay area we have upper 80s for petaluma today, 86 expected for san rafael. To the east bay we have 72 richmond. Along the east bay shoreline 76 san leandro, low 70s alameda. 87 for danville. 92 brentwood. Our south bay going to be a warm day. 85 los gatos. 85 for san jose.
