of the home, trying to see if any weapons are involved. they're not denying if human sex trafficking is involved, but family members told me a 14- year-old girl escaped or was released from the suspect. two other girls were friends of this teenage victim. they were also being held at this house. we spoke to oakland police a few moments ago about what they understand happened. here is what he had to say. >> our department was contacted approximately 15:00 this morning regarding a possible kidnapping. witness had called and said that there was a woman who was taken by a male in 1000 block of 65 65th av. >> so what they're trying to do is clear this house. they have a person of interest detained. no word on his identity, but the good news is the 14-year- old girl, according to her mother, is safe with her family. we're trying to confirm the status of the two other girls that may have been in the home with the suspect. >> henry, if this does turn out to be human trafficking or sexual exploitation, oakland has long struggled with the problem involving young girls as young as 14. >> absolutely. this is a big case here in oakland. in fact, we have a task force led by nancy o'mally. oakland police busy with prostitution. we're in the north oakland park. no part of the city is immune to this, but, again, very big issue indeed. human sex trafficking. >> perhaps a small victory today. henry, thank you. >> oakland police are investigating two separate deadly shootings that happened in the city this morning. the most recent one happened at 6:45 near 58th avenue. right there near the rainbow recreation center there. 's still a big police presence at this scene. responding officers found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. she was pronounced dead there at that location. and hours before just after midnight, another woman was shot to death. this one happened on alameda avenue near pearl street. she was taken by someone who may have witnessed the shooting. her identity has not been released. >> i really wish my mother could be here tonight. i wish she could see her daughter become the democratic party's nominee. >> after big victories last night, hillary clinton cemented her position as the first is already focusing on that general election. harris has a sizable lead with 40% of the vote over orange county congresswoman -- because this is an open primary, these two top go-getters will face each other in the runoff in novemberment today harris was in october to kick off her campaign for the november election. if she wins in november, she would become the second african to serve in the united states senate. >> there will be a rematch in the hotly contested congressional race we saw two years ago. mike honda and his challenger went neck and neck. the differs, fewer than 200 votes. the two will now square off again in november's general election. now, we did catch up with him last night. he lost in a hard fought expensive race. at one time he was a virtual unknown candidate, but he ran a fierce campaign and came within 4% points of unseating honda. he looks at another chance to unseat the congressman. >> i think we're in a very good position. i will let the political pundits talk about how close, but i think anyone looking at these results, they've exceeded my expectation so far. >> i think there's going to have to be a lot more work done regards of the outcome here. we're fighting tooth and nail for every vote and will continue to do so until november. >> we interviewed the the campaign manager because the congressman had to fly back to washington last night for a legislative session. he has no record to stand on. honda has served in congress since 2001. it's an election first. the registrar of voters stayed open overnight in order for workers to count the ballots. >> reporting from inside the tabulation room where thousands of ballots are still being sorted. >> so far 66% of the ballots have been counted. all the votes that were cast at the polls have been tabulated. now workers are flattening and sorting the vote by mail ballots. the majority of ballots here in st. claire ra county are a vote by mail. it's 72%. one of the highest rates in the state. because there's so much to count, this is the first year that the registrar's office can keep the office open 24 hours after the polls closed. now, one of the issues they're encountering are ballots people have not filled out correctly. some are circling or putting an x over the names. >> we're going to do everything we can to make sure that we can find voters intent to tabulate their voters correctly. as we're processing them through the machines. as we're pulling them out of the envelope, if we see anything different, we'll in teams of two tabulate those ballots. >> just to give you an idea of what voter turnout is like. with what's been counted so far, it's at 36%. with ballots coming in, it's estimated to be between 50 and 60%. it's a much higher turnout compared to what it was in the 2012 primary election. reporting from san jose. ktvu fox news. there were some problems in san mateo county. some of the voting machines did not work properly. election officials say the machines were not corroded correctly, so they did not produce ballots. that means voters had to use paper ballots. the problem was quickly fixed, and they're investigating to see if those 10-year-old machines need to be replaced. meanwhile, san jose police are investigating a shooting at city hall. they say they received a call around of 6:30 this morning about a shattered lobby window. investigators say they believe it happened around midnight or early this morning. they say no one was injured but the incident is being investigated as an illegal discharge of a firearm and possible vandalism. officers are now reviewing surveillance video. police have identified the four men they believe were involved in last week's violent protests outside a donald trump rally. three on assault charges, one on refusing to disperse. protesters and trump supporters clashed at that rally. supporters were punched, kicked, hit with raw eggs. trump criticized the city of san jose for failing to keep his supporters safe. police say they're looking at video evidence and could arrest more people in the coming days. the santa clara judge who sentenced -- in jail for six months is receiving personal threats. the new york times is reporting judge aaron perksky is receiving death threats. he has received calls at his office threatening him and his family. two recall efforts have been launched against persky. this comes as the victim in the case announces shell not come forward pub luckily, despite the nationwide support she's been receiving. millions of people have read her letter online, which she read to her attacker when he was sentenced to six months in jail. i she details the night of the attack and the impact it's had on her since. she told frank somerville why she wants to remain anonymous. she said that's the beauty of it. i don't need labels, categories, to prove i'm worthy of respect and should be listened to. i'm coming out as a woman wanting to be heard. >> if meteorologist steve paulson is here with the details. warriors gear up for game three in cleveland. which player we've learned will not be taking the court this evening. an investigation is under way with what caused a fire to break out. you can see how close the flames got to a valero gas station. the fire burned a u haul truck. firefighters were able to keep embers and flames from scatter scattering to nearby homes and buildings. >> in east bay, it was a surprising sight. about a heard of to gets could be heard in the westbound lanes in oakland. the officers had to coral the to gets to get them off the highway and to safety. they were being used by cal tran to clear brush. >> the oakland police department is asking people to roll upen their sleeves this afternoon to help others in need. the department and the american red cross are holding their annual blood drive at police headquarters. the sheriff donated. he actually made a run through the building to help encourage other police staff to give blood. the other staff is encouraged to come and donate. >> it's really important. we want to help people in as many ways as possible. our nonsworn people can come down and give blood. anybody can give blood. >> and the blood drive goes until 2:00 this afternoon in the lobby at police headquarters on 7th street. >> hundreds of people lined up in louisville, kentucky, hoping to get free tickets to muhammad ali's public memorial on friday. organizers warned that lines couldn't start until 6:00 a.m. but that didn't matter to hundreds of people cocamped out overnight, hoping to snag tickets being handed out today. the box office was scheduled to open at eastern time, but the windows opened early at 8:00 to accommodate the large crowd. a father and son who flew in from california say they were glad they lined up early. >> not only are we happy about getting the tickets two hours early, but we're happy we got good seats because we were in the front of the line. now we can go home and get some sleep because we got about an hour's worth of sleep on the plane. >> the speakers will include former president bill clinton. muhammad ali died last week at the age of 74. west 33rd and manhattan has been named -- the street is right next to madison square garden which hosted several of ali's greatest fights. let's bring in steve paulson. >> it has burned back to most of the coast. we get sunshine and a few high clouds. east bay temps running below average, though. north bay temps running a couple degrees above. if you're headed out to the ox and giants, mostly cloudy. there will be a lot of clouds regrouping. 59 west and 29 miles per hour. speaking of some of those temps, pittsburgh only 73. chicago, 65 with a west- southwest wind. dublin 71. these are about 2-6 degrees where they were at this time yesterday. a big fog bank, but it has moved back. some areas getting in on sunshine. a couple bands of high clouds to the north. really that's the fly in the ointment. this time of year, that issues cooler patterns. that's been the breeze to marin county. it's been a pretty good wind there. 28, 32. gusts to 40 at travis. west at 14, northwest 17. a breezy, blustery day, but most locations, definitely running cooler, especially out to the east and up into lake county. 60s on these temps. 70s. in fact a lot of these temps. minus 6. minus 2. i think you get the idea. slightly a little bit more. a few high clouds holding the temps up for a few. overall, most locations above average. fog will be back. it's getting chewed up over the next couple of days. weak system falling apart. it's mainly up toward lake county, but the highs today, a couple days ago, it was 100s. that's not the case now. 60s, 70s, only a few 80s. we head to the rest of the afternoon. probably a little cooler tomorrow. sun and clouds, chilly to warm on these temps. fog near the coast. there's some areas of sun as well. high clouds up to the north. a few drifting on through, but 60s, 70s, 80s. overall, the temperatures for the inland locations continue to go down. we'll bottom out on friday, you guys, and then see warmer area. we'll have a little more detail. love it. see you soon. thank you. the private space exploration company space x is hoping to relaunch a rocket for the first time before the end of the year. tesla founder wants to prove the reusable rocketry is actually possible. the plan is for space x to eventually be able to use its rockets after just a few weeks of turnaround, drastically cutting the cost of exploration. he hopes to put people on mars within the next several years. the relaunch is expected in september or october. a chinese jet came too close to an american reconnaissance aircraft on patrol in the east china sea. as kristin fisher reports, it's the second report of an unsafe intercept by china in less than a month. >> tensions with china heightened yet again. the pacific command says two chinese jets intercepted an american spy plane over the east chinese sea. one of the jets conducted what's an unsafe excessive rate of closure. the type of planes seen in this video, the command releasing a statement, saying initial assessment, this seems to be a case of improper airmanship. no other unsafe incident os curred. >> the u.s. frequently carries out reconnaissance in chinese airspace, seriously endangering chinese maritime security the pentagon said two fighter jets buzzed a spy plane last month over the neighboring south china sea. china and five other nations have conflicting claims in that area where an estimated 5 trillion-dollars in cargo passes each year. this occurred the same day john kerry discussed the debate. >> we want the traditional historic freedom of navigation and overflight to be respected. china has said it will be respected. >> and the department of defense says it is addressing this latest incident through the appropriate military and flexible. still ahead, we're learning new details about the death of a homeless man in san francisco. >> the days of torture that prosecutors say the man experienced before he was killed in golden gate park. >> the woman attacked by a shark is talking about the terrifying incident and one of the reasons doctors say they believed she survived. they've not yet entered a employee. the judge postponed arraignments to give time to go over evidence. they have not received any information about a possible motive in this case. >> there's been a lot of rumors swirling around, but the discovery that we've received has yet to indicate that. >> the attack happened on may 25 25th in an open space area in marin county. authorities say the two students were lured there to smoke miles an -- smoke marijuana and were attacked by the machete and shot. the attack appears to be gang- related. now an oakland man has been charged with the deadly shooting of a san francisco muni driver. he was sitting outside on his hairley when he was shot and killed. it was said to be an unprovoked attack. accused of attacking and shooting at another man. investigators say they have surveillance video of the killing, but the motive is still unclear. >> we do not understand why this gunman did this. there's no rhyme or reason for it. this is a very cowardly, callous, and cold blooded attack of people that were doing nothing wrong. >> jackson had worked as a muni driver for four years. he leaves behind a wife and four children. he could face the death penalty if convicted. a homeless man in san francisco was tortured for three days before his body was found in golden gate park last month. steven billingsley and nikki williams were officially charged with torture and death of steven williams. a gardner found his body on may 24th. police say he was beaten and dunked in the lake repeatedly over the period of three days. the suspects wanted to deliver street justice because they believe he had exposed himself near children in the park. the commission is scheduled to continue discussion on the department's use of force. they will get feedback from the community. meetings have been held since january, and the police department and commission say the meetings allow the citizens to have a voice and helps provide a smaller, more comprehensive policy. san jose police will soon be i caped i -- equipped with body cameras. $5million will be set aside to add nearly 1,000 body cameras, software, and training for officers. san jose joins other cities nationwide that have added these body cameras to their police force. they say the cameras provide a transparency for police. >> two police officers who were shot are improving. we're told the officer who was shot in the head after pulling 44-year-old gerald over is now listed as critical and improving. the detective who was the second officer shot also continues to improve. he led police on an all-day manhunt. he was found dead inside a home he had barricaded himself inside inside. the coroner says he took his own life. a berkley doctor is preparing for the right to die law, which goes into effect tomorrow. >> he's about to specialize in end of life options for terminally ill patients in the bay area. he says he realizes some doctors are not comfortable discussing these options, so he's stepping in to help. he charges $200 for an initial consultation and $1,800 if patients choose to use life- ending drugs. >> first i have to review their medical records. then i have to examine the patient. then we talk quite a lot about what makes you think that you want to have a prescription to help you die. >> brittany menard brought the issue to the forefront when she moved to oregon to die. >> cal fire crews remain at the park when flames broke out. they burned through at least 196 acres. there are some homes in the area, cal fire says the homes are not in danger right now. cal fire is not saying when it expects to declare the fire out. we do know, however, no injuries are reported. >> and back to steve paulson we go for the forecast. >> thank you. fire conditions, even though they're low right now, cooler temps, higher humidity. the breeze is never good. the inland temps have been coming down since friday or saturday. high clouds are moving through, but most of the cloud deck has retreated. 79 at noon. that's nice. 9 miles per hour light west wind may barely break 80. there's plenty of cloud cover to the north, but the low cloud deck is peeling off parts of the coast. there's holes in it. there is a little system that will enhance it. some of the cloud cover has moved off. over on the marin coast there's the band of higher clouds coming through. much nicer on parts of the santa cruz coast. san diego oceanside up to l.a., it's up and down the coast. the breeze is the big story. on shore, gusts up to 32. napa west at 15. nevada west at 10. livermore and hayward, west, west, west, it's a gust up to 17. there are some low to mid-70s but a lot more 60s here. gusts about 22 miles per hour down to nevada and into marin county. breezy conditions north of that. cal stowga 70. most locations both 72. same as woodside. the higher elevation has been modified now. you're starting to see the change. that will help chew up the fog bank it is a sunny and warm day up there. a few clouds inching closer to sierra nevada. still mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. this system is falling apart, but it is a system. the system comes through, it will usher in some cooler air for the inland temps as we head into the next couple of days. sun and clouds chilly and warm. noticeably cooler. 60s, 70s, still some 80s holding on. i will tell you the trend here in the next couple of days is take those inland locations and shave off a few conditions. now inland is near normal, but it looks like they will go slightly below average. starting today, taking us into friday, it looks like a warmer weekend. nothing compared to last weekend, but it will still be warmer. >> all this talk about tahoe makes me want to jump in the car and go. >> you can jump in the car and go anytime you want. >> we need him here. >> tahoe needs me. i need it. >> i understand that. >> the woman who was attacked by a shark off the orange county coast more than a week ago says she feels very lucky. she says she keeps replaying in her head exactly what happened as she was swimming during the memorial day weekend holiday. she says she remembers something very large grabbing and thinking she had to get away or she would die. doctors found shark tooth marks on her bones. she is a personal trainer and is focused on recovering, but she's thinking about her next race. >> i had a goal for my 20 year anniversary to do iron man vancouver, so i'm just shooting for that goal. i will just reassess things when i get back to training. >> doctors say one reason she survived the attack is because she's such a bigtime athlete and in excellent condition. >> news we've been following out of tel-aviv. police have been wounded in a shooting. it took place near a popular open air market at a site that's just about two miles away from the u.s. embassy. now, it is wednesday night in tel-aviv right now, initial reports show there were two terrorists and both have reported by listen neutralized. that means they were either killed or detained. just now getting new information from the the associated press that says three people were killed in this attack. it also injured a number of others, at this point, police are still very much on the scene, searching to make sure there are no other attackers, but, mike, as we watch what's happening in tel-aviv, people's thoughts might go back to what's happening in large cities in europe. similar attacks there, they've had more incidents. >> the big soccer tournament is coming to town as they prepare to make that city very receive view. >> we'll stay on top of this hosting a huge watch party at the arena. tickets are $20 each with all the proceeds going to the warriors community foundation. tipoff is 6:00 tonight, but the doors to oracle open at 4:30 for fans. a fun spot. the warriors, of course, on a roll right now, two convincing wins over the cavs. a lot more work to do. still, fans are already thinking about whether it would be better to sweep this series red sox in extra frames. the closer gave up a tie breaking signal. two runs scored. boston went on to win 5-3. the giants were without buster posey who may not play until friday. the giants and red sox go at it again tonight at at&t ballpark. meanwhile, the as bounded a comeback but in the end dropped an inner league game in milwaukee. billy butler hit a two-run shot, cut the brewers to 5-2. they scored twice in the ninth and had the go ahead runner. they lost 5-4. the two teams play again tonight. they head off to face the reds in cincinnati. it was a wild one last night. both benches cleared. there was punches thrown. ventura was wrestled to the ground. both players tossed from the game. temperatures boiled over earlier when ventura buzzed him. there will likely be suspensions handed out by the league. >> your little guy plays baseball. >> don't watch that stuff. maria sharapova plans to appeal a two-year suspension announced by the tennis federation. the ruling was handed down after sharapova tested positive for a drug. the five-time champion was provisionally suspended back in march. sharapova said then she was not aware that the world anti- doping agency had barred
