We are told the ruling doesnt necessarily open the door to resuming executions in california. There are other issues that have to be decided in Death Penalty type cases. I dont think this will open up the floodgates and we will have a lot of executions coming up. Theres other issues that need to be decided. One of the big issues is over the drugs used in executions. That prompted a federal judge to order an overhaul of the lethal injection procedures. More than 900 people have been sentenced to death in california and 13 have been executed since 1978. The chp believes two recent shootings on interstate 80 are connected. As we been reporting, the most recent ruling was tuesday night. The men were shot and killed in his car and his female passenger was wounded. Investigators believe they were targeted and now say the shooting is linked to another shooting eight days earlier, also on 80. Many drivers who use the freeway say they are on edge.
