bidding process for how this vendor is chosen and changes for how the medical workers are changed. >> and what about the jail and there is a chance that whoever make the final decision can make a new contract with corizon despite the suit. >> that is what we had questions about in the investigative unit and we have been looking into it and we talk to the sheriff and looked at how the contract is administered. it is under the purview of the sheriff's department. the board of supervisors approve it based on what should be happening and the contract is opened for bids for the first time in nine years and corizon is rebidding to keep the contract and to keep the money and services. in order for their to be the change that the mother wants. she doesn't want corizon to get the contract and them back in the jails, she would like to see somebody else come in and take over the services. it would take major changes from the top down. it would take the sheriff changing his mind and when we spoke to him six months ago, he says corizon was a good partner. >> and no crime committed from his perspective. >> yes. >> after the death of mario martinez, they did a report and we have a copy of it and we went through with a fine tooth comb and they interviewed personnel and found no criminal acts and forwarded that investigation to the d.a.'s office and they reviewed it and found no crime. >> we know what the mom is doing going forward with the lawsuit and we heard from the sheriff, what about corizon, they are feeling the heat. they dealt with one lawsuit last year, what is next for corizon. >> we saw corizon's representative at a bidding conference last week in downtown oak land. it is open and the decision will be announced in june. they are here and they have told us, their spoke person have said they are aggressively pursuing this bid and standing by their services and believe that the care that mario martinez got was medically appropriate and they are going for it and they are still here and trying to win that contract. be the vendor and get the services. the lawsuit was filed this morning no decisions yet. >> corizon getting to know you well. >> yes and our team recognized our photographer outside of the jail when they were there and we have been trying to get a sit-down interview with a representative from corizon for months. we have been able to catch them at public meetings and at public events. but they have been responsive by email but we have questions. and we will have to see what happens with the latest bid, if they get it. >> we will know in a one day after a major shakeup for ted cruz's campaign. we have the latest on the campaign trail. >> reporter: a snippet of video that cost ted cruz's communication his job. allegedly editing the clip to make it appear that marco rubio says the bible is void of answers but this is one problem, this is what marco rubio said on tape. >> ted cruz calling the edited video a grave area of judgment and continuing his damage control for using dirty campaign tricks and today getting back on message. >> for me it is simple, i got two guide books, the bible and constitution. >> never missing an opportunity donald trump pouncing on cruz using his weapon of choice. ted cruz has apologized to marco rubio and ben carson for tricks. he has lost evangelical support. >> and donald trump beating the we have light wind and a beautiful day to be out and about and the weather will stick around as we get into your wednesday, thursday and we do have changes coming our way for the weekend but it doesn't look like much rain if any. we will talk about that. let's check in on the numbers, 70s in livermore and 72 in san jose, bay upper 60s. 70s in san francisco. very mile in your neighborhood. 71 in santa rosa. upper 60s in napa. the portion of the north bay cooler and it has to do with that cloud cover and that northerly win has died off. 74 degrees foster city. mid-70s in belmont and 71 in palo alto. 72 degrees right now in saratoga. a beautiful day. as we look at storm tracker two, the clouds off of the pacific. we have a ridge in place but we have systems out over the pacific that are just bumping in to it. this ridge, if you look at the wind bars, you can see the curvature and keeping it to the north and it will remain that way for the next few days backing it up a little bit more. these clouds on the tail end, about all we will see. here is the forecast as we roll to tuesday afternoon. warmer. thursday will be the warmest day and as we get into friday. things start to spring forward. >> lose an hour, right? >> yes. >> oh, well. >> thank you very much. >> let's go to keba. after a divorce it can be challenging even in the most amicable circumstances. parents must cooperate with their children. it is tech tuesday and we are looking at some tech tools that can make the lives of coparents easier. with us ryan eldridge cofounder of nerds on call. it can be tough, especially after a divorce even if you guys are friendly but i sometimes you might not want to talk but you have to. >> the reality is that the kids are in two houses so you have to have like a project management tool to finish out where jimmy and jill is going and who is taking care of what. so setting up a series of apps depending on how hard it is to deal with your ex. the first one is if you got a cooperative ex set up a shared calendar with cozi.com. this is great because you can put different events and say jill is going to piano on thursday and jim karate and when they know it is there, it is for coparenting and scheduling, it makes it easier. >> and this can work in a marriage so everybody can see what is going on and you have access to it. >> cozi is great. even not in a broken house. in our family who is going to the grocery store and when and who is going to pick up isabella at the tie kwan-do place. >> i can see it is meaningful for couples that have split but you have the children in common. >> yes, sometimes you don't want a conversation that can get out of control a little bit and you start to talk about things you weren't calling about. >> let's go to two houses. tell me if the relationship is not that good and you need a way to communicate. >> this is if the communication is wafering. two houses.com. you get the shared calendar but this integrates the parenting schedule, a shared custody schedule. you can integrate that and reoccurring events to set it up and see when the other person has requested changes or when you need to do changes and automatically send it to your x. you can do budget expense tracking. let's say you take the little girl out and buy her new dresses for easter. you can document that in there and your x can split that with you and you are not fighting over i bought jimmy new shoes. >> it makes sense. >> and there is a journal to track certain events like he has a new friend at school and said this to him and i want to talk about bullying and talk about different things in his life that you don't want the other parent to miss out. there is a shared photo album. >> okay. >> and you can track conversations with teachers. >> yes. >> conversations with teachers and if it is riskier you can have a moderator to see the account in read only mode. >> that's twohouses.com. how much is that. >> 120 bucks a year for the whole family. >> you split that. >> hopefully. >> our family wizard. >> this is if you have a contentious relationship. this has a cool feature where you can have email back and forth within the wizard but it has a tone meter in there. so if you start saying words that are more hot, it may cool it off. and this is cool because you can send payments back and forth in the app, you can track it more without saying i never got your payment or check. it is all in the app. >> like a pay pal. >> yes. and you can have a moderator to watch everything going on and it works great for if you want to document things for court appearances and say this is the conversations we have had and alimony. >> divorce in 2016, my goodness, how much does that cost? >> $99 per parent per year but when you are in there, you can pay for the other parent because it might be worth it for 200 bucks to make sure that everything is clear and not fighting over the extra hundred bucks. >> ryan aldridge. good tips, thank you. you are welcome. coming up, baseball is back and the entire roster of the san francisco giants has arrived. now in scottsdale. a live report from the first full squad workout and we will hear from the player that has a new position coming up. well today was the first full squad workout with the san francisco giants down in scottsdale. many familiar faces and one face is playing a new position. joe has more. hi, joe. >> good afternoon. you are right the giants pitchers and catchers has been here for about a week now but for the first time in the 2016 season we got a look at the giants roster. a crowd here in scottsdale and applauded as the giants took the field. we got our first look on angel pagan and the doubleplay combination of brandon crawford and joe panic and matt duffy at third base and the outfielders. but the giants during this off soap identified the fact that they needed to acquire an extra outfielder and they did that and got denard span and that created a log jam in the outfield and that means another veteran has to change positions. >> beginning his 5th season with the giants and has a pair of championship wins and this year the giants are asking angel pagan to change positions. they identified out fieldhouse as a need and signed denard span and that met a change for pagan to center field to left and this is the day that pagan faced that reality. >> i was surprised at the move. i think like anybody, when you -- that's your position and you are asked to play a different position, you know, i was surprised but at the same time pagan is a great center fielder and every player has a pride and at some point you have to make a move and the team asked me to move to left field and i'll on board. here to do whatever the team needs me to do. >> already here in camp since pitchers and catchers reported span did not expect anything different. >> i don't want him to feel that i'm taking his job. we are working together to try to win a championship. >> i think it is key that we all work together. myself and hunter and angel. >> and both players saying the right thing but that doesn't mean there won't be adjustments. >> we got to sit down and talk about this. in order for us to work well we have to have great chemistry. i don't have hard feelings. >> not easy when you are asking a player to make a position change. we have done that in the past. it is about working things out and they will help us out in the outfield. it shows us about angel and how unselfish he is and will do whatever for the ball club. >> through two world championships bruce bochy creates unselfishness and if all goes smoothly in the shakeup it will be further testament to that reputation. >> it looks like the giants have found a way to bridge another what could be a problem for that is not a problem. reporting live from scottsdale. i'm joe fonzi, back to you in the studio. stay healthy in the outfield and hopefully a good season. thank you very much for that live report. when you play left field, less tear on the body when you are running in both directions. >> not a bad deal. >> could be a good deal. >> the u.s. attorney general weighs in on the fight between apple and the f.b.i. and so do some titans of technology. the comments from microsoft giants mark zuckerberg and bill gates. the life and legacy of peter mondavi. winemakers and drinkers are raising a glass to the life and legacy of peter mondavi at the age of 101. he turned his business into a well respected winenerry. >> and here with us is his sons. thank you for being here. >> thank you very much. >> we know how many lives your dad touched. how are you guys doing? >> we are busy doing well. he did have a very rich and very long life at 101 and surrounded by family his whole life. we are all blessed with that. >> now that i'm a father, gentlemen and i have a young son, he is five years old. i'm curious when i put him down to sleep. what he will remember me by when i'm gone. what is one thing and i will start with you, mark, that you will remember your father by through those years of your life. >> well, he was an outdoors man and passionate about everything he did. fishing and tennis and skiing and wine making. he ate, slept and breathed wine making all of his life. >> peter. >> yeah, raising us on the ski slopes and teaching us tennis and food was a central part of our upbringing with his mother, rosa. fabulous home cook, made everything from scratch and dad crafted the wines, really to go with these foods. and kind of a legacy that will live on. >> mark, let's talk about the legacy. at what point did you realize that our dad and your uncle, they changed wine making in northern california. at what point did you realize the legacy would be what it is? >> when i was young, i didn't realize what the legacy would be but i became very interested at a young age and dad would have pete and i taste wines with dinner every every night. not drink it but educate us and he would educate us and tell us the good points and the bad points about a particular wine. >> i mean, one of the first to use the french yoke in california with the cold fermentation, what do you think your dad was most proud of? >> i think his innovation in the wine business and the improvements, dramatic improvements that he made in the quality of wine making starting with his research that he did at uc davis or u c berkeley back in 1937. and with cold fermentation, that is a worldwide standard. >> mark, did you see your father drink wine from french. >> yes. not all the time. wines would drink wines from the countries on periodic occasions, he wanted to see what everybody was doing and the different styles coming from different countries. >> i escorted dad several times to europe to burgundy, italy, strictly to visit the wine producing areas over there. >> wow. >> got to know your competition. mark, peter, jr., again our condolences but we appreciate you taking the time here to talk a little bit about your father and i know he will be missed in your family. >> thank you. >> all right. let's talk now about the debate between apple and the federal government. bill gates is joining this debate over privacy rights in the wake of a court order for apple to get in this iphone used by one of the san bernardino shooters and gates says initial reports that he supports the f.b.i. in his legal fight is over simplified. gates says the government should not have to be left blind and it is up to the court to strike a balance between security and privacy. >> this comes as a new national poll shows most americans believe apple should unlock the phone for the f.b.i. 51%. the research center says 38% says apple should not unlock the phone and 11% says they have no opinion. as the justice department tries to force apple to break the code. the u.s. attorney general made her first public statement on this matter. >> reporter adam housley has comments and the reactions from titans in the tech industry. >> reporter: while federal prosecutors are asking a court to force am to produce software to help to guess the password to an iphone be longing to san bernardino twist and they say they need to know this in other situation goose we need to maintain access to the important evidence we need and protecting privacy and security. i think we can do both. >> microsoft cofounder bill gates breaking ranks with silicon valley backing the f.b.i. in this legal battle. >> the courts will rule and it will be good to have that precedent. i do think people want to have the government act on their behalf and they feel like the safeguards are there. >> but others like mark zuckerberg are siding with apple. >> i don't think require back doors to encryption is the right thing to do for the direction the world is going in. >> reporter: adam housely, fox news. learning more about the death of supreme court justice antonin scalia. the doctor says he suffered from coronary artery disease and obesity and diabetes and other ailments. he was also a smoker. his physician listed more than half a dozen ailments in a letter to they made a movie about steve jobs and why not make movie about you. >> i would rather stay out of the public eye. >> desk top publisher would not exist if it was not for you. >> my partner and i achieved the dream of every engineer to bill something that millions would use. we had the good fortune of bringing out technology that completely changed the printing and publishing industry and for me personally it meant a lot because my grandfather worked in a toxic environment to make printing plates. >> we are here to talk about your success as we should but i'm curious about the mistake that you made in 1982, silicon valley that maybe you needed to make to learn from and how you can share that story with maybe the entrepreneur out there, that they can learn from that mistake? >> i think candidly starting our company, there was no particular mistake in that regard except for one thing. we had a business plan and that business plan allowed us to raise two-and-a-half million dollars over a two-year period. a different world today. and we discovered after a few months and speaking with customers gordon dell, the head of r and d for digital equipment corporation and steve jobs came by and saw what we were doing and basically told us he didn't want what we were building, he wanted one piece of it. and ... >> he wanted your company. did he offer to buy it? >> yes. first thing he wanted to buy it and we said no, steve. we think we would like to start our own business. well, i can understand that. he said why don you sell me that software that makes the computer talk to the printer because i have got the computers and the printers and we said well that's not our businessman. and he said i think you are nuts. call me when you change your mind. so we went and talk to the fellow that bill hembrick put in as chairman of the board and explained what happened and he said you guys are nuts. you know would your business is, throw out your business plan and start doing what your customers want. >> do what the customers want. when you look at silicon valley, could you imagine it would be what it is compared to 1982? >> no, just the whole concept of the u bick caty of life and how it changes. when i got in the computer world in the 60s we would have never imagined that. >> a lot of the viewers may not know in may of 92 you were kidnapped and held and the bad guys were caught and sent off to prison. what did you learn from that experience back in '92 that you applied maybe as a husband and father and also as the leader of this company, too? >> well you know when something like that happens, i think you have to face a decision and that decision is are you going to change your life because of this event? and both my wife and i decided no. we didn't want to do that. that would have allowed them to win as it were so we took initial steps for video cameras around our house but other than that, we didn't change anything. >> like i said the next movie is on you. it should be about you and your life not just about that incident but what about a career. >> who is going to play me. >> we will talk about it. >> maybe you. we are both jesuits. anyway congratulations and have a wonderful evening and receiving the lifetime achievement award from the commonwealth club and if you want to attend there are tickets available wednesday march 16th at the but i am not ready for winter to be over yet. we need the rain and you can appreciate this beautiful weather more so once we have had that rain. well there is no rain in the forecast. at least for the next few days. we will get a chance for the weekend but it doesn't look like much. how about this view. we do continue to see the clouds spill over the ridge of high pressure that is deflecting those storms from the bay area. and that's really about it. outside of that, our temperatures unseasonably mile and here is where we stand. 63 degrees half-moon bay, cool for you and the onshore breeze has
