the threat level this afternoon... ... another attack no longer considered imminent... but still a serious risk. earlier the city's grand mosque... cordoned off after receiving envelopes of white powder. a frightening few hours as 11 people underwent emergency treatment... tests later showed the powder was flour... separately two men were arrested at a mosque in germany... . accused of planning still more attacks... well over a thousand raids have been carried out across europe, weapons and money seized... the mastermind killed. still tonight the search for suspects goes on. >> russian president vladimir putin had someme tough talk yesterday for the united states and turkey... over the war in syria. at a joint news conference putin said russia will keep cooperating with the united states and its partners to fight isis in syria. but that cooperation will be in jeopardy if there are any repeats ofofurkey's shooting down of a russn jet. and putin said he is sti angry at turkey's actions, calling the downg of the jet an act of betrayal by a country moscow had thought of as a friend. a man draped in an american flag was able to scale and jump a spiked fence at the white house before being stopped by the secret service, all while the first family was gathered f f thanksgiving inside. the jumper, joseph caputo, made it over the fence spite new security around the white house put in place just five months ago. the white house was immediately placed on lockdown while the secret service combed the grounds. caputo was detained and taken into custody. the thanksgiving holiday didn't end the sit-in protest going on at a minneapolis p pice prececct. protesters have been dug in for a few weeks in the wake of the fatal shooting of an unarmed black man by a minneapolis police office demonstrators say many people from within the minneapolis community donated demonstrators themselves prepared dishes and everyone who came out enjoyed a thanksgiving meal despite the snow and cold tempererures. one person was shot outside a louisiana shopping mall thursday evening. the shooting happened in the mall. one person is being treated for a gun shot wound, but is expected to survive. police said it was an altercation between two people... and it had nothing do with holiday shopping. the shooter is still at large. a new york mother who left her baby in a nativity scene earlier this week won't be prosecuted. the baby boy was found monday by the custodian staff at a new york church with his umbilical cord still attached. he is now healthy and doing fine... the d-a says the mother followed the spirit of new york's abandoned infant protection t... and won't be chchged. the act allows a parent to abandon a newborn up to 30 days old anonymously and without fear of prosecution at a suitable place. the mother had returned to holy child jesus church the day after to make sure the baby was found. a man got through security at the salt lake city airport and managed to get to the flight check- in gate... using a stolen ticket. it happened on november fifth... and we're now justearning about it. police say 61-year-old michael salata stole a woman's southwest airlines boarding pass that she had accidentally left at a kiosk... and he used it to get through security. he was in the process of boarding a flight to o oland whenene got caught. they say salata wasn't stopped until the woman who lost her boarding pass tried to check onto the flight using a replacement pass. police say salata was not carrying any items that would be cause for alarm. frontier airlines is suspending its flights between denver and sioux falls during the winter. the executive director of the sioux falls regional airpororsays the airline will spend the flights jan. 3rd and service will resume april 15th. frontier began flying out of sioux falls in 2011. frontier stopped service in sioux city back in october of last year. at the time is was described as a seasonal shutdown. but, the airline didn't take off again after flying out of sioux gateway airport for about four months. frontier also served sioux city for seven months in 2007 and 2008 before ending service as the airline reorganized under chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. a tricky travel day yesterday for some across siouxland as freezing rain, turned to sleet, then turned to snow. law enforcement encouraged drivers to take their time on the roads to prevent accidedes. the snow was not nearly as much as last friday, the first snow of the season. but there was still enough snow to cover trees and cars. in some places you could even see icicles formed. it was the same up in sioux falls, south dakota not enough snow to accumulate much- but enough to makekeoads slick and slippery. the south dakota department of transportatio n is warning people it's illegal to place or dump extra snow on shoulders or ditches. officials in the yankton area say the recent snowfall left behind a lot of snow and they're seeing a lot of violations. the space within the right of way is suppose to be reserved for fufure snow that could fall on the road. because of the weather: the city of moville, iowa has issued a snow emergency. so there is no parking on city streets. libraries are well known for their printed books. but in today's age, many people prefer digital books. coming up, "i'm inside, warm, meeting around good people who care," said william dufek, a sioux city resident. "i like this place a lot. the food has been fantastic. you can't beat this, no way, no how." su "people eating here today say, it's not only a great way to have a nice meal, but it's also a nice way to celebrate the holidays with others." "it's good ecause i seeee lot of people i haven't seen in a long time and it's kinda nice," said misty rodriquez, a sioux city resident. "younow ii think that tis is nice that rebos is doing this because a lot of money to do it." there was a traditional thanksgiving meal offered, and all of it was donated to the restaurant. volunteers came from around the community to help the restaurant's cause. "we're close, we're a pretty close family too so we knew that we could still do something like this and yet we're still all together," said heather rees, a co-owner at rebos. and on thanksgiving, the rebos family was just a little bit larger with all those that joined them.>> many of the volunteers for the dinner were actually customers. rebo's wasn't the only place the less fortunate could go for a warm meal on thanksgiving. coming up in our next half hour of news... "we stood out line out here from 1 o'clock to 4 o'clock froze ii was o much fun though. i guess i'm with my family so i im thankful for that, but if we wouldn't had the lull. i don't like it. black friday is the all night experience and it's just not the same," said amy benson. although some shoppers appreciate the extra shopping time. "i bet you a lot of people think it's people get to come i guess because some people they don't get to leave that early sometimes they work," said jack schlosser. and then there's the late birds. "i always shop on christmas eve (laughing) because i thinn that''the best tiie. you're mind's really thinking....it's crunch time," said bryce engen. >> either way shoppers say it's a friends. deals today, others will opt outdoors. it was a month ago that retailer r-e-i announced its doors would be encouraged americans to opt to go outside and enjoy the outdoors with family and friend since then, nearly one million people have joined in on the idea. to make opting out more attractive, some national and state parks across the nation are offering special deals today, such as waiving entry fees. black friday is not just an american event any more. it's spreading to europe as well. but some in britain believe the shopping bonanza may not be a good idea there. isa soares explains. purchasing power, suppliers or margins and probably over the years they've under invested in terms of it, logistics and warehousing. so it completely doesn't make sense for some retailers to get involved. we think some rereilers who've invested more in their it and their logistics capabilities they're the ones that are really starting to participate." and 77-percent of uk retailers will participate -- offering some sort of black friday discount. in store: consumers are predicted to spend over $1.92bn this year on deals over the black friday, cyber monday weekend. while internet spending on black friday alone -- is expected to hit a record 1.62 billion dollars. used it to get through security. he was in the process of boarding a flight to oakland when he got caught. they say salata wasn't stopped until the woman who lost her boarding pass tried to check onto the flight using a replacement pass. police say salata was not carrying any items that would be cause for alarm. frontier airlines is suspending its flights between denver and sioux falls during the winter. the executive director of the sioux falls regional airport says the airline will suspend the flights jan. 3rd and service will resume april 15th. frontier began flying out of sioux falls in 2011. frontier stopped service in sioux city backn october of last year. at the time is was described as a seasonal shutdown. but, the airline didn't take off again after flying out of sioux gateway airport for about four months. frontier also served sioux city for seven months in 2007 and 2008 before ending service as the airline reorganized under chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. a tricky travel day yesterday for some across siouxland as freezing rain, turned to sleet, then turned to snow. law enforcement encouraged drivers to take their time on the roads to prevent accidents. the snow was not nearly as much as last friday, the first snowow but there was still enough snow to cover trees and cars. in some places you could even see icicles formed. it was the same up in sioux falls, south dakota not enough snow to accumulate much- but enough to make roads slick and slippery. the south dakota department of transportatio n is warning people it's illegal to place or dump extra snow on shoulders or ditches. officials in the yankton area say the recent snowfall left behind a lot of snow and they're seeing a lot of violations. the space within the right of way is suppose to be reserved for future snow that could fall on the road. because of the weather: the city of moville, iowa has issued a snow emergency. so there is no parking on city streets. november is national (isa soares, london/stand up bridge): "while some retailers may be pulling out of black friday....barom eter of the british high street -- department store john lewis is continuing with its black friday event. this after last year saw the company make 270 millioio dolarsin sales in just one week. reason enough it seems...to keep this us tradition going." reaction to black friday may be mixed. with some indicators pointing to a larger black friday this year in terms of number of retailers taking part and growing interest from shoppers, black friday looks set to remain a fixture on the uk shopping calendar for some time. >> holiday shoppers will mingle with protesters today at one of the country's most popular magnificent mile, reverend jesse jackson's rainbow push coalition plans to hold what the group calls a major avenue. the pupuose of the black friday protest is to bring the attention of the world to the violence in chicago and to call for change via "mas demonstrations" and voter registration. a big meal gave u-s military members serving in afghanistan something to be thankful for on thanksgiving day. soldiers celebrated the holiday partners. there was s enty of food on thee serving line... including turkey, ham and prime rib topped off witpies and cakes. fancy food sculptures added to the festive atmosphere. an estimated three million people turned out in new york city to watch the 89th annual macy's thanksgiving day parade. the tom turkey float made its grand entrance on 34th street... paying tribute to the pilgrim and nanave american feast back in 1621. macy's great american marching band led the way... consiing of band members from all 50 states. and seventeen giant character balloons soared above the crowds... including snoopy. charlie brown's beagle has appeared in 38 macy's parades... which is a record. and of course... the most popular character in the parade every year is santa claus. a company from sioux falls, south dakota once again designed new balloons for this year's parade. raven industries has produced more than 90 large balloons for the parade over the years. new this time around; an updated ronald mcdonald. new balloons take hundreds and and with thanksgiving comes traditional thanksgiving food. people who stopped at the gospel mission in sioux city yesterday enjoyed a free meal. the shelter opened its doors for the public to take part in that meal. volunteers came from around the community and included individuals as well as families hoping to give back.
