Authorities charged anderson with 3rd degree sexual abuse. Officials at Mercy Medical center say their security staff was alerted about the situation and they called sioux city police. The iowa dot has appppved a grant to pave the way for the multiMillion Dollar seaboard triumph pork processing plant. The 4point6 Million Dollar grant will help pay for street work at the plant site at Industrial Park in sioux city. Monday night, the City Council Approved the Grant Application through the revitalize iowas sound economy program. The 264Million Dollar plant will employ more than 11 hundred people when it opens in two years. A few weeks ago, a neighbor complained to Woodbury County supervisors that the business is an eyesore. Last night, nearly a dozen Community Members turned out to voice supervisors. The board may consider revising the ordinance in question. Cubbys Convenience Store donated food for the meal. The elks club donated 2 thousand dollars worth of new winter coats. Mostly people know us as being the agency that helps connect military members and their families in time of crisis, but we also have a Significant Service that we provide to veterans and thats what this is about, said American Red Cross executive director, tammy lee. There will be another event like this for veterans on december 15th at the American Red Cross in sioux city. Support siouxland soldiers presented an award to students who are helping veterans. The Organization Presents their heroes on the homefront award to organizations, schools and businesses who support troops in a major way. Yesterday, Le Mars Community High School Students received that award for their continued donations. They gathered food, hygiene items and care packages. Its important for the Young Students to know how important their work is in the community and how appreciate we are of their help and supporting our troops, said support siouxland soldiers founder, sarah petersen. At the event the students brought a bus load of food, 40 care packages and 13hundreddollars to send the packages overseas. On the eve of veterans day, a local group who continue to protect the community were honored. Ktivs tiffany lane shares how many members of the sioux city fire rescue were recognized yesterday. Fire rescue were honored. Su those honored tuesday say theres a similar bond between those serving in the military, as well as those serving in the fire rescue. Nobody really understands the concept of brotherhood quite like firefighters and veterans do, said orwig. Its an alliance. Its a friendship. Its relying on one another. The ceremony was put together by the International Fire fighters local chapter. It took place at the flight 232 memorial overlooking Veterans Memorial bridge in the background. Its about the recognition for the sacrifices and service that other people have made and i just feel like its a very appropriate location, said brian malcolm, sioux city fire rescue. All branches of the military were recognized at the event. I was kind of amazed by how many veterans that have served, that we actually have in the department, said adam wright, sioux city fire rescue. I knew we had some navy and some marines and the air force. And to see everybody here was kind of humbling to see that we had that much experience. An experience that the group will always be able to share. Out of sioux citys current 110 members, 25 percent have served or are serving in the u. S. Armed forces. For a pair of sweats that was the reward, for students in 2nd through 8th grade, for hitting their firstquarter reading goals. The goal was to read 1,700 books. They exceeded that goal. Students at blessed sacrament read more than 1,800 books and second graders at st. Michaels, in leeds, read nearly 950. Weve thought, for this year since the 1700 was no sweat at all for the kids to accomplish, we would do the sweatpants. For them to have an out of uniform day is kind of nice. Its nice for the teachers too. We all feel just a little more relaxed. Holy cross sixth grade teacher kim sealey was one of the Staff Members that started the reading challenge two years ago. She says they have reached the goal each and every year. Students say its important to take up reading at a young age. It can take you to different places, said alainna joly, a sixthgrader at holy cross blessed sacrament center. When youre in a book, and you just focus on the book, itll take you to a different universe. And youll get all the ideas when you read. Sealey says the school will raise the reading goal by 100 books every quarter. That would bring the total to 2,000 by the end of the school year. You dont have to flip every indivudual slider over. Youre going to make it in the oven so its a lot easier. To get started were going to make our own seasoning. This is our own french onion seasoning. This is really to cut down on sodium. Instead off buying our own box were going to make our own. Its real easy. The base is these dry onions. The base is thhse dried onions they come in a container like this and you can see i used almost all of them. I think i have only seen them in a big container like this. You can find them about everywhere and use them in anything that you woulul use fresh onions. Throw them in soups and chili and other things like that. That is the base of our seasoning mix. We want some onion powder, some garlic powder, and some celery salt. This is not a sodiumfree seasoning. But, it does cut down on the sodium quite a bit byd making your own. Some dried parsely. If you dont have any dont really worry about it. Sheila thats the stuff you can skip. Whitney thats what i like to use to get that color. Because you eat with your eyes first. I have some so im going to throw it in. But, if you dont have it you dont have to use it. Plus, a little salt and pepper. This makes need a couple of tablespoons for this recipe. You could make less and you could make a lot more. It will keep in your spice cabinet in a drawer. Sheila it seems like with the dried onions you dont get as bad of breath . Whitney theyre not as strong so if you have someone in your family who doesnt really like onions. Sheila they might like this version. Whitney . And, you want onions in something youre cooking this is a really good alternative. Were basically going to make a meat loaf, a few tablespoons of bread crumbs, your seasoning. And i already pressed it into my pan. And, for a onepound version an 8 by 8 pan works really well. Make sure you press along the sides because your meat is going to press down a little bit. And, for one pound like this i usually get 9 sliders. Sheila and you just cut them up in 3s. Whitney its really easy and not messy and you have your burgers. Sheila how long do you cook it . Whitney its 400 degrees for about 25 minutes. I topped mine with gouda cheese. I like to shred it so you dont eat as much, but you can swap out anything that you want. Seattles famous gum wall is being steamcleaned to remove 20 years of gum thats been placed there. The tradition started around 1993 and the wall now has an estimated onemillion pieces of gum.
