Its tomorrow night. The storm plowed through cuba this morning with 115 Miles Per Hour. Winds hurricane and is now a category 3 currently in the gulf of mexico and its current projected path. Yoon is moving toward western florida at approximately 12 Miles Per Hour. And at this time, were expecting landfall somewhere between fort myers and tampa. By the time it reaches the shores of florida. The storm is going to slow down to approximately 5 Miles Per Hour. And this is significant because what this means is that floridians are going to experience the impacts from this storm for a very long time. Across the state public schools, colleges and even theme parks have shut down through thursday. Flights have been canceled in and out of the area well. Kron from meteorologist kyla grogan is joining us now. Shes got more on the storms path. Kyla when it slows down, that just means it kind of sits for a while over top of doesnt mean when it encounters land that slows it down, right that that is what part of whats going to slow it down. But yes, still incredible amount of rain is going to come with this and hurricane. And right now at this hour, a category 320 Miles Per Hour. You can see the pressure. Theyre 952 millibars. Just 255 miles south of sarasota, florida. As we go forward here you can see it is cap is going to strengthen to a category 4, which, by the way, you know, to National Weather service defines that as a catastrophic hurricane, a cat 4 as we get into tomorrow and then there goes across the state eventually starting to slow down a little bit before it heads back over the water again and then looks like it goes up the no doubt about it. This is going to be exceptionally devastating storm. This is a look at the last 12 hours. You can see that rolled across cuba and the eye very well defined here and now it is headed back into the gulf of mexico. And as we take a look, you can see already throwing some very heavy bands of rain towards miami. You know, a lot of these bands of rain capable of actually causing tornadoes as well. Its another side effect of having a storm this size. So that is obviously the big national story. But ill be back in just a bit. Were going to have our weather in the bay today. Were being transparent in coming forward and acknowledging the issues that that went on here on friday. 47 Alameda County sheriffs deputies were stripped of their duties as Law Enforcement officers after receiving a letter from sheriff gregory ahern, obviously. This was very devastating news to them. They have no idea that they did not have the passing score that was required to a lot of them were in shock. Were initially delivered the news that tenant ray kelly with the Sheriffs Office says they did an audit of their department after one of their deputies. Devon williams was arrested in connection to a double homicide. Thats when kelly says the office determined that a d not soon did. Is no longer considered a passing grade. As we look into the files. We begin to see that the rules have changed and the information and guidance that we were given from the state was inaccurate. And that the scores that we thought were passing were just below passing. And as a result of that. People that we had employed. Would not with their psychological exams to be peace officers. The deputies who failed will be on desk duty until they take the test again and pass it. Kelly says the test is not as straightforward as sat or iq exam. Its based on you Emotional Intelligence and a bunch of other factors. Young people fresh out of with very little life experience, very little work. Experience tend to not do as well on the psychological exams as people with more life experience. Kelly says the re test will be conducted by a peace officer standards and training or post certified psychologist. Who does not work for the Sheriffs Office. He believes most of the officers will want to test again. But for now, the about 1000 remaining sworn personnel will be taking on a heavier load. We estimate that it will average about 20 extra overtime will be added per week. That need to be filled. We feel is manageable on on a shortterm basis. Well, get the testing done. That was amanda hari reporting for us. One deputy has already taken the test again passed it and has been reinstated. Lieutenant kelly tells us deputies who do not pass the retest will be dealt with on a case by case basis. But they dont have access to that evidence. In a statement pg e says we are grateful for the First Responders who have been fighting the mosquito fire. The u. S. Time now to get you a check of your forecast. Were taking a live look outside over San Francisco. Pretty beautiful day. We do have a little bit of cloud cover there, which is kind of keeping us a little cooler. I feel comfort. Meteorologist kyla grogan here with details. It was at least school when i was walking into the office today. Yes, you feel correctly. It is been cool morning. No doubt about it. Below average temperatures on tap again for today. But were getting the sunshine in a little bit earlier today than we did yesterday. So thats kind of nice. But nonetheless, it is cool at the coast, 60 degrees at Half Moon Bay. 67 in that. But i can tell you, i think somethings wrong with my agent santa rosa right now. So i dont think its 59 degrees. And that just dropped. 68 in fremont about 72 livermore in antioch at 78 degrees right now live look outside and again, you can see were getting a lot more blue sky in today as we take a look from the east bay across, you can kind of almost sort of make out San Francisco there. So were going to be a lot of sunshine, no doubt about it. And certainly in San Francisco are more socked in yesterday. Big difference today already at this hour. This is where were going today about 69 in San Francisco about 81 in santa rosa. 83 in concord. 77 in san jose says some nice 70s around the bay. So maybe youre going to head out and see the Colorado Rockies taking on the giants tonight. Mostly sunny skies are going through out the first pitch at 6. 45. So wind out of the west about 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour and i would recommend a jacket because, you know, once that sun goes down, it gets a little chilly out there. So weve been a little chilly and also a little cloudy because of this low pressure system to our northwest. But whats going to happen over the next couple days . Well see High Pressure build in again on the coast as that low pressure system starts to move along. And what that will do is allow a little bit of warming as we get to thursday and friday, not extreme warming. Were talking mid 80s to low 90s. So should be a thing too dramatic. But it will also compress that marine layer a little bit will cut back on the clouds in the morning and a little bit of the fog. So take a look at your forecast. You can see that warm up as we head into thursday and friday and we cool down again as we get into the weekend and begin october with some nice weather. I think for the weekend those mid 80s look pretty good. Mid 70s around the bay should be quite nice, too. Thanks. Kyla. Iris coverage. You can see last 12 hours. This loop shows how it rolled over cuba right there in the western end of cuba and now is headed back into the gulf where its over incredibly warm water. And that helps us to strengthen even further. Now, already throwing many of these rain bands, as you can see into south florida, many of them, you know, can be causing tornadoes as well. So this is or the watches and warnings are you can see in florida and just to show you were talking about the models were not in consensus yesterday. But look at the difference today where you can see that most of them are either, you know, just south of tampa are a little bit closer like to fort myers, but the majority of them now kind of locking in on the path. So right now sitting a sustained winds at 120 Miles Per Hour. As i it is at 950 millibars. The pressure thats just 10 Miles Per Hour.
