Reporter Alaysha Carradines step grandmother is heartbroken. Smith says until about two weeks ago, she had been living with her right over there in the apartment complex where the shooting happen. Where the father and the stepmother hung out with their friends next door. It is a great reminder of how bad it was. All day, people dropped by to drop off stuffed animals. People prayed. Meanwhile, police were in the area talking to anyone who could help solve the crime. The grandmother heard the shots and feared the worst while holding a piece of art that Alaysha Carradine made for her in school. This is her reaction to the passing. I felt horrible. I felt like we let her done. There should have been something we could have done maybe. I dont know. I fell like we let her down. She was such a bright. I mean, she had a bright future. She was smart. She was going to go to college for sure. She was going to be something. She loved people. She was a happy child. You know. And she loved her mama. She loved her mama. You know . And i mean, she was, most kids cant express love. You know . And she could do it. That is what i really liked about her. She could tell you how much she loved you. She could tell you how much she looked you and how pretty you looked and it was so natural and easy for her. I just feel really, really bad. Reporter and at around 10 00 this evening, the Police Captain assigned this this area stopped by my car and showed me this picture and describes the crime and what happened. The Police Department is handing these fliers out to everyone in the neighborhood saying they need the publics help to solve this crime. About 30 minutes ago, Alaysha Carradines mother stopped by our car as well and said she is not ready to speak tonight, but she will make herself available tomorrow. Their message, stop the violence, stop the killing. They killed a young baby. She hassen lived in the world. We must learn how to come together and learn how to be our brothers keeper because if we are not our brothers keeper, your brother wont be kept. When we begin to speak against the wrongs going on, we will see a decrease in the wrongs taking place. We have to come together as one. Reporter others shared the same sentiment. We are worried about our children, our city, our adults. We are worried about anything going on in oakland until we get out here and say our city is here. Nothing is going to change. Two more men have been found guilty for their roles in the gang rape of a 16yearold girl back in 2009. Marceles peter and jose montalo have been convicted. Two other men have been convicted as well. Two trials are pending. That attack happened outside richmond high. The teenager was beaten, robs, sexually abused. As many as 20 people watched. The da says the jury got it right. When you combine witnesses and good police investigation, scientific evidence, it becomes compelling. I think that is what the jury found. The two defendants will be sentenced in august. They are facing up to 33 years, 33 years to life in prison. Homeland security secretary Janet Napolitano was confirmed today. Some students were not happy about that citing her deporting of Illegal Immigrants during the obama administration. The police are moving in there. Six students who refused to leave were handcuffed and arrested. One of them was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Napolitano is the first president of the ic system. Today she depended her track record in immigration saying she has been an advocate of the federal dream act. A developing story, destruction and fear spreading tonight in southern california. That fast moving wild fire, it is continuing to grow near the town of idlewild. This is in the steep mountains west of palm springs. This fire has grown to 35 square miles, destroyed at least six houses and some mobile homes, lots of cars and trucks have burned. The fire is 15 contained and it is not clear yet how it started. Police are releasing these in the hopes they can get some help identifying the vandals. During the monday protest, a waiter was hit in the head and face by a protester with a hammer. He got out of the car with three sharp tools including a knife and a hammer. A Police Officer fired at the man and killed him. No one else was injured. A new initiative called save your smartphones.
