A category 4 storm. Now its weekend only to re strengthen again and become officially a hurricane is moved out the atlantic. So weve got a long way to go with this storm system. You can see kind of churning around out now in the atlantic know really well defined eye on this storm system now. But it has been intensifying over the past few hours. There are some signs that mean testify a little bit further before making landfall. Still, that heavy rainfall has been moving in along the coastal sections in daytona beach. They had reports of over 10, even 15 inches of rainfall along the coastal sections. There and more that starting to move a little further to the north. Now, the corps that system sliding a little northward at about 10 miles per hour. And so thats the very latest. You can see all that moisture moving in along the coastline. The winds have been picking up, told the coastal sections. Well, weve had gusts over 40 miles an hour, hilton head and then all of a sudden the gage disappeared for a little while. And there you go. Start to see those winds pick up and that will begin to knock out some of places. There are some of the weather stations as it gets closer to landfall. Hurricane warnings, of course, are up along much of georgia and South Carolina all the way up to myrtle beach. Were expecting the system to come on as a potentially a category one. But there are signs that this may intensify. So were watching for the storm surge again, doesnt look like the historic storm. Storm surge like 18 feet like parts a florida have. But were still talking to 4 to 7 foot storm surge that could cause a fot of damage where that hurricane comes on. Shore warning drop until at least 05 25pm, in the afternoon eastern time on sunday. All right. Heres the latest track. 85 mile an hour sustained winds. You watch as it moves little 4th or the north. But it is now tracking a little further north of originally expected to go to charleston, but now looks like maybe north of that, maybe between myrtle beach just to the north. But before that is all said and done, it looks like another chance for a devastating storm to make a second landfall with ian as we head in toward friday. Lawrence, thank you. So First Responders did have to wait until Hurricane Ian fully passed through the area to get out here because those winds were maximum 150 miles per hour. It was just too dangerous as winds lasted late into the overnight hours last night, weve heard some incredible stories of survival after speaking with people who did not really planned to weather the storm here in these lowlying areas. But they said the water just came up too quickly. Yesterday afternoon and they decided they didnt have time to get out at that point. So one man actually climb to the roof of his manufactured home. Well, time is ticking for the governor to make some decisions on key bills ahead of the deadline tomorrow night. Capital correspondent Eytan Wallace gives us a look at the legislation the governor will need to consider over the next 24 hours. Were talking bills on all kinds of matters from criminal conviction records to paid family leave that as the governor just signed a new piece of legislation, all about water. And drought its been one day since Governor Newsom in an unannounced move, surprised farmworkers and signed legislation allowing them to vote remotely in union elections. Now attention turns to other bills whose fate is still up in the air. All as we approach the deadline for the governor to make a decision by 11 59pm on friday. One of the bill still on his desk sb 7. 31, the legislation would seal conviction and arrest records for exfelons as long as they have not been convicted of another felony in the 4 years since completing their sentence and parole or probation is vitally important piece of legislation that little as a lead lobbyist in favor of the bill. You prove yourself in you get an opportunity to provide for yourself and your family and through that we are stabilizing communities and also stabilizing our local economy. It goes too far. Republican state senator brian jones of san diego says he supports second chances, but says this legislation paints too much of a broad brush or telling the criminals. Just wait it out. You can do what you want. You know, commit the crimes do the time and then eventually in a short period of time, it just automatically going to fall off and your record is clean and several democrats agree also that this just goes too far, also voted no on the bill. Also on the governors desk sb 9. 51. It would increase payments to some workers or those in family leave programs. California is in the program to earn less than 57,000 per year would see state payments. 90 of their wages and increase from the current 70 figure. Newsom has vetoed similar legislation in the past. And speaking of vetoes, the governor just rejected a bill that sought to provide water bill Financial Aid for lowincome californians arguing the funding was just not there, but he did sign other water related bills, including one that will provide Tax Exemptions for californians who use turf replacement rebates. This will help respond to the current drought that were facing 2 by reducing water use, but also help with longterm water efficiency goals in climate adaptation. And it is important to note if the governor does not sign or veto a bill that will automatically become law reporting here outside the California State Capitol Eytan Wallace kron. 4 news the that is or a flight right into the belly of the beast. This is what it was like on an airplane soaring through the eye of Hurricane Ian. Aircraft was making the dangerous journey to gather data thats only available from inside that monster storm. A close call for 2 people rescued from a sailboat off floridas northeast coast last night. Marine units helped to boaters struggling to stay afloat during the stormy conditions. Rescue officials are using the incident to remind people not to go out as Hurricane Ian still creates a lot of rough waters out there. Another rescue video shows the rescue of a dog that was stuck on a sailboat. Hes happy to be off. And both the the boat was carrying pet from the flood waters and then handing them off to a nearby reporter who was able to get the animal safely inside. That is a happy pup. Chief meteorologist Lawrence Karnow is tracking where that storm is right now. Yeah, here we go again. This storm system about to make a second landfall. This one not going to be a strong one, makes landfall again, but still an extremely dangerous hurricane. And were not done with the in yet. Weve got another day of this. And i think going to see a lot of moisture kind of hang around, maybe toward the middle of next week going up and down the eastern seaboard. We find before getting carried off by a trough of low pressure. But outside right now, you can see this storm system kind of becoming a little more ragtag. What we call extra tropical is starting to take on some character characteristics of more like a tropical cyclone. But right now Still Holding Hurricane Force winds right near the center knoll a true i looking back at you. But still a very dangerous storm. Getting pounded by some heavy rainfall along the coastline. But its now beginning to shift a little bit further to the north. Were getting hit very hard. Daytona beach, some of those areas over 10 inches of rain today. And of course, theyre worried about some flash flooding now start to move up into a brunswick. Savannah also in the charleston. And that will be the case as going start to focus a little more, i think for the north tonight, you see those heavy bands. Most of thathis taking off the coastline. Theyve seen some strong gusty winds over 50 miles an hour along the coast. But that is going to pick up overnight tonight. And then tomorrow morning, i want to show you this computer model, a forecast of the winds and i want you to watch the center on this and showing you kind of a 9 looking back at you being picked up just from the winds alone. Those winds gusting all a over 50 miles an hour in some spots will watch what happens as we take you through time here. Youll notice this ice starts to wobble. A little bit becomes the form someone a little bit. And then right, as we get a little bit closer, possibly making landfall north of charleston. Watch what happens to this. I didnt want to see this right there. Okay. This really starts organize. Usually when you see it, i will start to organize and get this symmetric other words. Its looking much more around that. Usually a sign of intensification. Theres a very good chance that overnight tonight were looking at sustained winds of 85 miles per hour. This could intensify even further as we head toward tomorrow morning just before making landfall. Remember, its moving over the gulf thats a very, very warm water. There. And that may be just enough to help intensify. And its kind of intermingling with a trough of low pressure thats moving across the east coast as well. So watching that very closely. And of course, here in the bay area, whole different type of weather got some gorgeous weather outside as were going to see temperatures soaring tomorrow afternoon up in the 60s and the 70s in downtown San Francisco should be a gorgeous day along the coastline are starting out. Some patchy fog giving way to some sunshine that is get inside the bay. Those numbers warming up in a hurry. Not a lot of 70s and 80s the central bay and then the south 80s, even some low 90s, maybe in the campbell by tomerrow afternoon, about 90 in pleasanton. 92 in livermore. 91 on walnut creek. 91 in concord, 82 in hercules. 84 in blair and 87 degrees in the napa valley. So along the coastline, those temperatures still going to be nice to next few days. Hey, were start out october. Heres 10 10 forecast. You can see pretty hot and some of the valley by tomorrow. Youre up in the 90s. That cooling down a little bit into saturday and sunday. Maybe a little further right now. Looks like no trend toward rain in the 10 day forecast but looks like maybe some warmer temperatures as we head toward the following week. But next week that storm system comes on shore. Looks like by tomorrow morning. Watch for some intensification. Didnt want to hear that. The good news is it looks like and come in a less populated area of South Carolina. Chance it could. I mean, i guess theres always a chance it could be 2 or 4, maybe that that symmetrical well kind of fall apart. Yeah, you know, not like youre really in there. Theyre always surprising. They never quite do what you think theyre going to do. They never go exactly where you think theyre going to go. And so well probably see some changes overnight tonight, but least right now. Its the appearance that this will likely intensify a little before making landfall. People are getting ready there they lawrence, thank you. Well, while florida grapples with the damage done by Hurricane Ian and everybody else gets ready here in california, of course, we continue to face a worsening drought. State leaders are urging people to keep saving water. They say one example of great Water Conservation is happening at google. But tonight it will definitely have confidence going into this matchup. Most of these matchups are all close games. Theres no shortage of talent. Some of the best players in the nfl on both sides of the ball will be on that field and everyone is very familiar with one another. Then at the top for a number of years. And we feel as though we have as well and a lot of these games over the last couple years have been deciding factors for, you know, playoff seeding, homefield advantage. Obviously. And thats a championship turn into the mix. We know each other very well. Its been a lot of the same core guys down there. Its been a lot of the same core guys up here. And so, you know, its always a fun battle. Bobbys a middle linebacker is also very good pass rusher. So each week the complaint, different positions, same thing they jalen. I mean, jalen sometimes a corner. Sometimes hes in nickel. Sometimes hes there 3, 4, edge back or a nickel front they do that with everybody. Its just switching people up, testing your rules, all that stuff, which, you know, its its tough when they have those guys out there how to mix it up. Cant wait for that matchup. The warriors had their first practice over in japan late last night, local time. And as youd expect, they got the rock star treatment as soon as they got off the plane and the attention fallen onto the Practice Court where they met kpop sensation sugar. They also tested their strength against a sumo wrestler and got to pose for pics in front of japanese monuments. It was a long flight, but the energy rejuvenated, everyone in the dubs theyve enjoyed embracing a new culture. You know, everybody so kind. So so even like the fans, one, weve got off the ride on the way to the bus. You know, you you assume that everybody staff and play. From top to bottom from last man on the roster to rihanna, names super cool to see him and sends a now. Look, they are also in japan to handle business on the court and gel as a team. This is Training Camp after all the warriors came into the season as one of the favorites to win an nba title. They overwhelming favorites. There are still a handful of other teams that are picking that many people are picking. I should say the bucs and the clippers being the other popular choices either way there will be pressure on the warriors to get it done. This isnt last season were not many expected them to win a championship. But jordan poole says this group is built for High Expectations and will embrace the challenge of the journey. Definitely feel like as if we have a target on our back being the defending champions and being the best team in this League Last Year bring in our team back, which is pretty much the same. So we felt pressure a little bit. But lately we feel comfortable know if you have enough chemistry with our team that just kind of play our and we know how talented we are how connected we are to go out there. We per game have a. I really good Season Running back. All righty. Thats your look at sports. Back to you guys. All right. Thank you, jason. I would not have been able to be a homeowner. I certainly would not have been able to afford a brand new home or the size of home. The collaboration between the federal government, the Community Housing Improvement Program and wells fargo allowed elizabeth and 3 other families to buy homes for what she estimates. Its about 200,000 less than she would pay for new construction. She said before this home in paradise have been out of her reach, even though she has received some money from the fire Victims Trust fund established to compensate victims of pg and e cause wildfires between 2015 2018 within 30 days of accepting a determination. You get that check 0. 5 . So i am lucky in that. I have got not because theyre still 30 of people who just havent despite the billions and promise settlements, many survivors of the pga cause wildfires are still living in temporary living situations either because they havent really seen any meaningful settlement money at all or because the payout theyve gotten so far simply hasnt been enough to put down roots. Thursday, the fire Victims Trust announced another 117 Million Dollars settlement of a lawsuit against former p jeanne officers and directors according to one of their attorneys, the money will largely be used to reimburse federal agencies for their response to the fires. Though this process is far from over. And there have been more setbacks than she like this. It be my how this video of elizabeth son playing in there seemed to be home, keeps to resolve strong in paradise. Karma dickerson.
