(mark) time to talk winners and losers with our financial expert rob black loser: 'the yellow light is on': california loses 1,400 jobs as economy shows signs of slowing . . .. california's economic engine quieted in june as employers reduced their payrolls by 1,400, according to a report friday by the state's employment development department. it was the second month this year that the state lost jobs. the unemployment rate stayed flat at 4.7%, the lowest rate since november 2000. a net reduction of 1,400 jobs is slight compared with the state's total employment of about 17 million non-agricultural workers. but it is another indication that 2017 could be a year of cooling for california's typically bustling job market. loser: us existing home sales drop as prices hit record high . . . u.s. home resales fell more than expected in june. a shortage of properties pushed home prices to a record high. last month, the number of homes on the market slipped 0.5 percent to 1.96 million units. supply was down 7.1 percent from a year ago. housing inventory has dropped for 25 straight months on a year-on-year basis. as a result, the median house price jumped 6.5 percent from a year ago to an all-time high of $263,800 in june. it was the 64th straight month of year-on-year price increases. winner: california bill would boost electric car rebates by $3 billion, but where will the money come from? . . . over seven years, california has spent $430 million on low- emission vehicle subsidies to help lower the cost for car buyers. now the state legislature is looking to extend that by another seven years, but with a price tag of $3 billion. assembly bill 1184 is being slammed for leaving basic questions unanswered, including the biggest one: where would the money come from?the legislation favors automakers such as tesla that make electric-only cars over carmakers that sell plug-in hybrids - subsidies on such cars would be a fraction of pure evs. how much or how little can i put down on a house?hal a major hot spot in livermore wb 580 at airway an overturn accident blocks the two right lanes, slow from north livermore ave. (mark) kim hutcherson has more in today's health minute. staying hydrated is important, especially when exercising outdoors.but a panel of seventeen experts says a bigger problem might be drinking too much during a workout.sodium levels can become dangerously low if your body can't process all of the fluids you take in.this can lead to a condition called hyponatremia -- or water intoxication.headaches, vomiting, confusion, seizures and even death result from hyponatremia.research shows that we typically consume enough water through foods and beverages - including coffee and soda.water is the best option to stay hydrated, but flavoring drops and powders can make water more palatable. just watch out for sweeteners and other additives. sports drinks can help restore sodium levels in the body. but... these drinks are suggested only for athletes who exercise vigorously for at least an hour, especially in hot weather. the best test for dehydration? thirst. researchers say to drink when you are thirsty as this is a reliable indicator of when our bodies need more fluid.for today's health minute -- i'm kim hutcherson. ( mark ) the white house has recently lobbied against key provisions of a bill to punish russia for meddling in last year's presidential election.( darya ) but with pressure mounting for congress to take action, the president and his new communications team have found themselves in a no-win situation. joe johns has the story. president trump's new communications team -- offering ámuddledá messaging about whether the president supports a bill that will álimitá his ability to unilaterally lift sanctions on moscow.newly appointed press secretary sarah huckabee sanders -- signaling the president is open to signing the legislation. sarah huckabee sanders:"the administration is supportive of being tough on russia, particularly in putting these sanctions in place and we support where the legislation is now." but incoming white house communications director anthony scaramucci -- sounding more áuncertain.á jake tapper: "is president trump going to sign the russian sanctions bill?'anthony scaramucci: "you got to ask president trump that. it's my second or third day on the job... my guess is that umm.. he's going to make that decision shortly."the new communications director áalsoá telling cnn that president trump ástillá does not accept that russia attempted to influence the 2016 election. anthony scaramucci:"he basically said to me, 'hey you know, this is, maybe they did it, maybe they didn't do it'"a stark contrast to the áunanimousá and áunwaveringá beliefs reiterated by president trump's own intelligence officials in the last week. dan coats:"there is no dissent. and i have stated that publicly. and i've stated it to the president."mike pompeo:"i am confident that the russians meddled in this election, as is the entire intelligence community."mike rogers: "no doubt at all and i stand behind the intelligence, intelligence community assessment that we produced " with three of his inner circle scheduled this week to speak with congressional investigators looking into possible collusion between the trump campaign and russia... the president -- unleashing his anger at both political parties -- once again calling the investigation a "phony witch hunt" and an "excuse for a lost election"while attacking fellow republicans for "doing very little to protect their president."the president raising eyebrows a day earlier by asserting he has the "complete power to pardon" --suggesting that might include his family, his aides -- even possibly himself -- in relation to the russia probe.anthony scaramucci:"i'm in the oval office with the president last week, we're talking about that. he says he brought that up, he said, but he doesn't have to be pardoned. there's nobody around him that has to be pardoned."one of president trump's lawyers -- offering a ácontradictoryá message.jay sekulow:"we have not and continue to not have conversations with the president of the united states regarding pardons. pardons have not been discussed and pardons are not on the table." (darya) put 'em up gare. i got four fights for you. are you ready? the first is man versus shark. which was a let down for a lot of people who i guess they wanted to see the shark eat michael phelps. however, it beat michael phelps but not really. olympic great michael phelps is not faster then a shark.gary says people thought they were going to be nose to nose, but that didn't happen. how were they going to do that? they were just trying to make it visual and dramatic and show the difference between a shark and a swimmer.i think they did that. gary says he understands but they should let people know before hand, so they don't get disappointed. it's always a big tease. the shark won by two seconds. gary says when he noticed they weren't side by side, it did take a little bit out of it.(darya) then there's the let down too of draymond green versus conor mcgregor what a fight that would be if it were real, but it's just on instagram. gary says that he is sure mcgregor is not going to risk one hundred million dollars before mayweather by getting knocked out by draymond. draymond thought that since mcgregor was wearing a warriors "23" jersey that he was picking a fight with draymond, so draymond started fighting back. like don't wear my shirt. mcgregor didn't mean draymond number 23. he meant c.j. watson 23. there's a history between c-j the old warrior and mcgregor. he wanted to diss mayweather. c-j allegedly slept with the mother of mayweather's kids leading to his much-publicized domestic abuse altercation. mcgregor was just trying to get under mayweather's skin but he got under draymond's skin. gary says that was about five years ago and asks if mayweather and his wife are still together. darya doesn't know, but draymond thought it was a personal a- front to him. mcgregor has a great way of making a lot of people mad. draymond is tweeting and instagramming like "hey bro! take my shirt off!" mc gregor responds saying who are you? i don't even know you, but stay in school kid. he offended draymond. gary says this is the first time mayweather has taken a guy who is a better talker and promoter. obviously, he's a tough guy but he got it more for his promotional skills i think than how great he is in the ring. it's working.(darya) then there's the fight between kyrie and lebron. who wins that one? i don't know. the thing is a big mess with kyrie wanting to be traded and not play with lebron. is he that bad to play with? this has been a problem. gary says if you are used to being the man, you don't want to be the second guy. but it looks like kyrie just wants to see where things are at. if lebron stays in one more year, he wouldn't want to stay with a depleted team. by saying i want to be traded. if lebron decides he wants to stay a couple more years don't leave, then it's pushing it in lebron's court. lebron is just saying he is blind-sided and disappointed. gary says who knows but he is under contract for two more years. kyrie says there are 4 teams he is interested in. heat, timberwolves, spurs and knicks. gary says that's what you get when you are that good. (darya) my last fight is jordan spieth versus the 14th hole. it was a hole that was going to blow up but then he saved the day. gary says the last five holes he was great. he doesn't watch golf too much, but spieth captured his attention. but the last five holes, he showed he is the best. darya says what captured her attention was shooting over a mountain or a hill not knowing where the pin was. the caddy swtiched the club on him. a few holes later, he made a 48-foot putt. he tells the caddy to go get that. darya just went golfing over the weekend, she says she used her caddy to hold her head. when she's using iron or wood, she tells the caddy to hold her head. so she couldn't keep her head down,(darya) i just can't keep my head still. she comes to the court and requests a caddy. the caddy could have a head holding thing just for darya. the a's salvaged that last game.(darya) the giants lost to the padres yesterday. the highlight to friday's game was all the birds. denard span is afraid of birds. when you have a game that lasts late at night, birds dive-bomb the park. that game went right into midnight. it's like a bad movie. i'm afraid of a lot of things. squirrels are the number one thing, but birds are a close second. the announcers said they were waiting for denard span to get out there. everytime he gets out there they come flocking. he's a chick magnet.(darya) instead of pitching a ball, an arizona diamondback pitched a truck. a truck, i've got a 2012 gmc sierra 3500hd denali with a fully built twin turbo. with a fully built allison transmission for sale. just shoot me a tweet if you are interested."> the relief pitcher was mic'd up on fox sports arizona before the diamondbacks' game against the nationals on saturday. he used that chance to get the word out about his truck. gary says in baseball they keep talking about how they want to get the young demographic. so you see guys in the all-star game getting mic'd up and giving speeches. guess they are carrying it on in the regular season. the pitcher now has three people interested in buying his truck. a 2012 g-m-c. who are these people? the energy conscious people among us say small actions can add up to something... humongous. a little thing here. a little thing there. starts to feel like a badge maybe millions can wear. who are all these caretakers, advocates too? turns out, it's californians it's me and it's you. don't stop now, it's easy to add to the routine. join energy upgrade california and do your thing. ( mark ) just like people, dogs also go through a rebellious teenage phase.( darya ) the discovery was made when researchers were trying to figure out what would be suitable for training dogs as guides. a dogs teenage phase usually happens when they hit about 8 months of age. it was at that time a dogs became impulsive, easily distracted and their behavior became a bit erratic. the study also found how a dog was treated when it was young was more important in determining how it socialised with humans than its dna. seven day (darya) that's it for us this morning... our next newscast is at 5 o clock tonight. (darya) put 'em up gare. i got four fights for you. are you ready? the first is man versus shark. which was a let down for a lot of people who i guess they wanted to see the shark eat michael phelps. however, it beat michael phelps but not really. olympic great michael phelps is not faster then a shark.gary says people thought they were going to be nose to nose, but that didn't happen. how were they going to do that? they were just trying to make it visual and dramatic and show the difference between a shark and a swimmer.i think they did that. gary says he understands but they should let people know before hand, so they don't get disappointed. it's always a big tease. the shark won by two seconds. gary says when he noticed they weren't side by side, it did take a little bit out of it.(darya) then there's the let down too of draymond green versus conor mcgregor what a fight that would be if it were real, but it's just on instagram. gary says that he is sure mcgregor is not going to risk one hundred million dollars before mayweather by getting knocked out by draymond. draymond thought that since mcgregor was wearing a warriors "23" jersey that he was picking a fight with draymond, so draymond started fighting back. like don't wear my shirt. mcgregor didn't mean draymond number 23. he meant c.j. watson 23. there's a history between c-j the old warrior and mcgregor. he wanted to diss mayweather. c-j allegedly slept with the mother of mayweather's kids leading to his much-publicized domestic abuse altercation. mcgregor was just trying to get under mayweather's skin but he got under draymond's skin. gary says that was about five years ago and asks if mayweather and his wife are still together. darya doesn't know, but draymond thought it was a personal a- front to him. mcgregor has a great way of making a lot of people mad. draymond is tweeting and instagramming like "hey bro! take my shirt off!" mc gregor responds saying who are you? i don't even know you, but stay in school kid. he offended draymond. gary says this is the first time mayweather has taken a guy who is a better talker and promoter. obviously, he's a tough guy but he got it more for his promotional skills i think than how great he is in the ring. it's working.(darya) then there's the fight between kyrie and lebron. who wins that one? i don't know. the thing is a big mess with kyrie wanting to be traded and not play with lebron. is he that bad to play with? this has been a problem. gary says if you are used to being the man, you don't want to be the second guy. but it looks like kyrie just wants to see where things are at. if lebron stays in one more year, he wouldn't want to stay with a depleted team. by saying i want to be traded. if lebron decides he wants to stay a couple more years don't leave, then it's pushing it in lebron's court. lebron is just saying he is blind-sided and disappointed. gary says who knows but he is under contract for two more years. kyrie says there are 4 teams he is interested in. heat, timberwolves, spurs and knicks. gary says that's what you get when you are that good.
