home to see if there was any sight of him on surveillance video. one of the stops, this whole foods at fourth and harrison. his friends tell us surveillance video from halloween night, the night he was last seen, shows someone in a red hoodie coming into the store and then quickly leaving. the images from the rear -- image is from the rear so there's no confirmation it is him, however, he was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt when he was last seen. family members tell us that today they have been talking to police and getting significant updates. however, at this point they tell us there is nothing they can talk about and nothing they can confirm. reporting live in san francisco, dan kerman. thousands of nurses who worked for kaiser permanente are off the job and on the picket line today. it affects some 86 facilities in northern california. nurses say this is a contract issue. meanwhile the hospital is promising that services are not being adversely affected. here's a report from walnut creek. >> reporter: kaiser permanente claims patient care was not impacted despite a two-day strike that started around 7:00 in the morning. they had ample time to prepare, ten days to fly in nurses. that's because regular nurses were on the picket lines. as you can see, there are hundreds of them at this walnut creek facility. >> for any needs we are ready and able to take care of our patients. please do not hesitate to access the system. we have made pleasant. nty of -- plenty of preparations to make sure whatever care you need is available and ready. >> reporter: the nurses say they're fighting for a new contract but also for their patients and better healthcare. new ebola guidelines. >> protective wear for contaminate patients. all nurses need that in america. >> we've been working aggressively in preparation for the potential of ebola virus. we have all the protective equipment necessary and have done intensive one-on-one training and preparation to receive any possible ebola patients. >> reporter: the nurses will be on the picket lines not only today but also tomorrow starting at 7:00 in the morning until 7:00 in the evening. there are no longer any ebola patients under treatment in the u.s., although hundreds of people are still being monitored. today craig spencer was released from a new york hospital. the last person to recover from ebola in this country. he's the 33-year-old doctor who had been treating patients in west africa. spencer earlier got flak for flying home and socializing, traveling around the city for a week, potentially exposing others to the deadly virus. that was before he realized he was sick. as you can see no mention of that today. hugs and cheers from the hospital team. new york city's mayor called him a hero. nurse kaci hickox of maine has passed the 21-day incubation period with no sign of the virus. she defied the quarantine and said she did it on behalf of the healthcare workers coming back from west africa. look at the cloud cover. rain moving into the bay area by tomorrow. jacqueline bennett joins us now with details on the wet weather ahead. >> we are going to stay dry through the rest of the day and most of tomorrow before the rain moves in. a live look outside. looks kind of ominous out there right now but we've been dealing with cloud cover throughout the day. temperatures a lot cooler than what we saw yesterday but we did expect that. low 60s for the most part. upper 50s aft at the -- at the coast. on satellite and radar, clouds pushing over the bay area. most of california, high clouds from this storm sitting over the coastal waters. here's a look on futurecast. rain approaching around 9:00. north bay at that time. as we move into the later evening hours, the rain starts to spread a little further south. we're going to finish timing this out on futurecast. see how it will impact the thursday morning commute and take a look at the rainfall totals. the streets have proven violent for some young people in richmond recently. the most recent killing happened last week when a 16- year-old boy was shot down in front of his own home. the contra costa sheriff's office told us today the high school student was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. a report now on the rash of violence that has the community stunned. >> reporter: yellow evidence markers on the ground at a recent shooting injuring a teenage in richmond. just one minute later, 11 blocks away, another shooting. three more teens wounded. >> five incidents. one just outside the iron triangle in north richmond. frequency of shootings in the last couple of days has really caused tensions to escalate. >> reporter: richmond police captain mark says rpd investigators have zeroed in on the connection between the recent shootings. >> reporter: we believe a feud has heated up and that is responsible for about one-third of the shootings and shooting incidents we've had. and many of the other shootings can be attributed to north richmond and the central deep sea gang feud. >> reporter: in addition to increasing patrols in the areas where the shootings occurred, richmond police are also using social media platforms like facebook to defuse the violence. >> as people read on, they will be able to get an update about where the violence and occurring and also what is rpd doing. i think communicating with people when they have fear and apprehension about an increase in violence it's pivotal we send out these messages. and we have a very pronounced response from the law enforcement department where detectives are out undercover and on high visibility patrol contacting people they know at risk to being involved in this and sending a message that we're watching and going to disrupt the pattern of violence. coming up at 5:15, 1 week since the midterm elections and the bay area city where the votes are still being counted in the mayor's race. then at 5:30, an update on the condition of a child who fell more than 200 feet off a cliff in the north bay. and next, the newest frontier in space exploration. just how soon this mission could start. . scientists today have just made the decision to try to land a spacecraft on top of a comet. this is going to be a first. this is animation showing what it will look like. a very delicate and tricky operation. the comet has to be in just the right position. once released from a mothership the craft cannot be steered so basically they'll have one shot at it. and it shows what the landing craft will look like once in place sitting on the comet. it's about 220 pounds, the size of a washing machine. scientists decided the mission is worth a try. the process will begin tomorrow. they hope it will teach them about comets and how they react when they get close to the sun. >> still ahead, president obama criticized for something he did in china which people here in america may not even have noticed. and then new mayor, marie gilmore, is up for reelection. but trish spencer is inching her out in the vote tally. spencer is currently a member of the school board. at last count spencer is leading the mayor's race by 129 votes. she has 50.15% while gilmore holds 49.53% and there are still more ballots yet to count. but because of today's holiday the registrar's office is not open. in san jose the mayor is dropping hints about what his agenda will be like when he takes office in january. posing for pictures with reporters as he arrives at the city's annual veterans day parade today. he says he's already started putting together a team for his administration. he says his campaign promise to restore public confidence in the city's commitment to public safety will be his top priority. today, he talked about what he calls building bridges with the police union. >> there's no secret that i've long supported the fiscal reforms that mayor reid led and i will continue to do that. on the other hand i think there are opportunities for common ground here where we can come to agreement with the police union particularly over changes to disability protections, strengthen those to see how we can create incentives for retirement-eligible officers to stay on board a couple years while we're hiring. there are a lot of opportunities, i think, for us to do that within our budget. >> doing so will mean he has to build a like-minded coalition on the city council which in january will have not just a new mayor but three new city council members as well. the u.s. chemical safety board is calling for major changes to california's system for regulating oil refineries. the changes are outlined in its latest report on the 2012 richmond refinery foyer. fire. the report includes a call for more proactive inspections and greater involvement of worker safety representatives in order to reduce the risks faced by the refinery workers. according to the csb chairman, the currently regulatory system for safety is largely reactive at both the state and federal level. they'll hold a meeting in richmond next month to release the third part of its investigation in a chevron refinery fire that injured san jose this afternoon. take a look at the change over the past 24 hours. we were down 15 degrees in concord today. also 15 degrees cooler in santa rosa. 11 degrees cooler in pleasant pleasanton, livermore. warmer near the coastline. two degrees warmer in san francisco and six degrees warmer in half-moon bay. here's a look at the cloudy conditions right now. cloudy over the bay bridge toll plaza. temperatures on the cooler side this evening. upper 50s and low 60s. 59 in santa rosa. tonight partly to mostly cloudy skies like right now. temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s. through the day tomorrow increasing cloud cover as rain approaches. during the evening hours, moving in 8:00, 9:00 tomorrow. spreads south overnight into thursday morning. we do have another chance of rain in the extended forecast too. into early next week. we'll get to in just a moment. but first tomorrow's temperatures, very similar to what we saw out there today. remember we'll be seeing increasing clouds throughout the day tomorrow. tomorrow afternoon, low 60s in richmond, concord and hayward. we'll be in the 60s also at the coastline. san francisco, low 60s, through the north bay. taking a look at satellite and radar picture, something like this tomorrow. increasing clouds. through the day as the storm gets closer to the coastline. here it is. moving in tomorrow evening into thursday morning. here's a look at futurecast. 8:00, 9:00, the rain spreading into the north bay. 10:00, starting to move south of the golden gate. fairly widespread showers 1:00 in the morning hours. 3, 4:00 hours, the rain starts to shift down to the south, to the south bay. east bay will be seeing the showers. and tapering off into the later morning hours. 7:00, largely dry, maybe 8:00. a new lingering -- few lingering showers possible through the early afternoon. rainfall totals aren't going to be spectacular with this storm. most of the rain going to miss us to the north. maybe up to a third of an inch of rain in the north bay and a quarter of an inch of rain in san francisco and the peninsula. a look at the extended forecast. tomorrow increasing clouds as the rain approaches for the late evening lingering into thursday morning. drier friday and saturday as well. only a slight chance of a few isolated showers saturday. the next best chance of rain will be in monday. through the day on monday and also into early tuesday. new at 5:00, a huge economic summit in beijing, it's the little things that seem to be getting the most attention. here's an example. chinese internet users are saying rude things about president obama because he was seen chewing gum. they are calling him an impolite idler and a careless rapper, among other things. the president is known to use gum to help him stay off smoking but the chinese are used to very formal behavior at events like this. they're also complaining he used one of his own limos instead of one provided by the chinese. mostly negative, 89%, which means they think the president shouldn't have been chewing gum or the story is dumb and the chinese are blowing it out of proportion. 11% are positive, they support the president and think the chinese are being obsessive or the story is just silly. we've been getting tweets. for example, critics in an up uproar over obama chewing gum. must be a slow news day. once again, obama embarrassing himself. gets out his limo chewing gum. chinese insulted calling him an idler, shameful. somebody sums up what a lot of people are saying, it's gum, come on, people, chill out. and another quirky moment. this getting a lot of buzz too. russia's president flipping a shawl or maybe a lap blanket over the shoulders of the chinese first lady. this at a fireworks show. she smiled. she seemed to be okay with it. but then discreetly got rid of it moments later. for some reason, this was apparently considered improper. in the later video, there was no trace of that shawl or putin doing this. chinese censors had taken action. some global media getting a little carried away saying putin had been flirting with the wife of the chinese president. coming up next, new details in the los angeles. >> reporter: new reports uncovering the circumstances of their death. the findings have caused melissa rivers to feel disappointed by the medical care her mother received. >> the words failed to do the following, get consent for each procedure performed, record her weight and failed to correctly document the dose of the anesthesia propofol, the same medication that caused michael robin williams. according to a report, his suicide could have been triggered by hallucinations from his debilitating form of dementia. it was reportedly the, quote, key factor that drove him to take in bodega bay. tonight that child is in serious condition. here is video of the rescue from yesterday. the boy and his family were visiting the area and exploring the trails when he fell over the 230-foot cliff. the child was airlifted to santa rosa memorial hospital suffering traumatic injuries, including a broken arm and leg and scratches to his face. rescuers from the local fire department, from the coast guard and police department were all called out to help in the boy was later transferred to children's hospital oakland. officials say the boy was conscious and alert at the time of the rescue. well, the bay area still desperate for rain and starting tomorrow, it looks like we are going to get some. this is a live look. looking out over san francisco where you can see the thick clouds building even as the sun has gone down. kron4 meteorologist jacqueline bennett is here with the latest on the weather ahead. jacqueline? >> this storm isn't going to be a big one but we do need rain so anything we can get we'll take. right now seeing the clouds moving in. clouds ahead of the main storm that is still sitting over the coastal waters right now. and this is going to impact us tomorrow evening into thursday morning. tapping into tropical moisture as well but we'll only see a quarter of an inch to half an inch of rain for most locations. tomorrow keep it cloudy. partly to mostly cloudy. upper 40s, low 50s to start the day. the rain moving in wednesday evening into thursday morning. talking a glimpse at futurecast. 8:00 you see the rain approaching the north bay. it will start to move in after that. we'll time this out coming up and take a look at our next chance of rain early next week. coming up in just a bit. pam? >> on this veterans day, flags fly proudly all across the bay area to remind us of the sacrifice made by those who serve in the u.s. military and those no longer -- base in san francisco is home to several hundred graves, some dating back to the 1800s. but one veteran -- for one veteran we met today, it's an important place to remember a good friend. >> i look at the grave and think of dan mccarthy, a major who died recently, good friend of mine, also a military intelligence officer. i miss him so bad. i miss his camaraderie. all the faces of the folks i worked with in afghanistan, kabul, nato. the aussies and brits and the amazing people i met, i think of them and it means a lot that there is a place where we can come and celebrate that. >> in the east bay, local scouts and their parents spent time early this morning dressing up the headstones at sunset view cemetery in elcerrito. it has become a tradition for a local boy and girl scout troop there. the veterans said they were touched by the gesture. in alameda, a special ceremony on the uss hornet for world war ii veterans. the navy pilots came to celebrate their military service with a group they called air group 11. they all served on the hornet. many had not been back on deck since the war. we caught up with two of the members for an emotional reunion. >> reporter: jeff cox and bob maxwell flew aboard the hornet in world war ii. they're here aboard the hornet for a reunion of sorts. >> i found my late grandfather's world war ii journal and read the stories. >> reporter: he produced a documentary called 11 being shown on the ship for veterans day. along with these men, george's grandfather was a member of air group 11, heroic fighter squadrons. bob is an ace fighter pilot who protected a bomber pilot who ended up being the 41st president of the united states. >> george h bush. i've met him a number of times since the war and it's a lot of fun. >> reporter: many of these men served on this ship and this is the first time they've been back on the uss hornet in some 70 70 years. >> feelings are both ways. nice to think back and remember all the fellow pilots. they're pretty much all gone now. i think what i did was real good and i feel, you know, kind of touchy on that. >> reporter: the survivors of squadron 11 here for this veterans day and like george's grandfather, remembered for another whole generation on film. >> here's not here, he passed away a while ago. but it's like spending time with him again with all these guys. >> reporter: on the uss hornet, kron4 news. >> nice story. and people across the nation have been coming together for a salute to service. ceremonies today honored the country's nearly 20 million veterans. in nearly every corner of the country, americans paused to say thank you. in annual tradition a wreath was placed at the tomb of the unknown soldier at arlington national cemetery. the vice president was speaking while president obama continues his overseas trip. >> you are not only the heart and soul, but you are the very spine of this nation. >> reporter: another event in texas offered a candid conversation with a former president, president george w. bush talking about his father on stage. his father, also a veteran. >> he cared deeply about the troops that served underneath him and their families. which is essential if you end up happening to be the commander in chief. >> reporter: the nation's leaders are asking all americans to salute service and sacrifice. >> as every adversary in every age who has ever come up against you has learned, american warriors never bend, never break, and never, ever, ever yield. >> reporter: as parades wind down and speeches end, a chance remains to thank a veteran not just today but every day. today's holiday, by the way, comes on the 96th anniversary of the armistice that ended world war i. november 11th, 1918. pam? >> coming up at 5:45, how the gorillas at the san francisco zoo are reacting to get death of one of their -- to the death of one of their own. and up next, the effects marijuana could have on a person's brain if they start smoking at an early age. kron4 programming brought to you by kaiser permanente medicare. using marijuana at an early age could have long-term consequences on the brain. that's according to a new study in the proceedings of the national academy of sciences. researchers found that people who smoke marijuana starting as early as age 14 have less brain volume in the orbital frontal cortex, the area in the front of your brain which helps you make decisions. researchers also found people who regularly used marijuana had iqs that were five points lower than nonusers in the study. although the researchers admit there is no definitive proof that marijuana alone was the blame for the lower iqs. rain is on the way to the bay area. tomorrow evening, as a matter of fact. we're going to time it out. i'll show you how much rain we're expecting coming up. oh chris, did you remember to described as a tragic accident. according to a zoo spokesperson, the gorillas are showing normal signs of grief and loss after the sudden death of a young female gorilla. on friday night when the gorillas were being moved to their nighttime enclosure, she was crushed by an automatic door. kron4 went to the zoo to find out how younger members are remembering the gorilla. >> reporter: it's generally a fun outing but monday the trip took a more somber note as they reflected on the loss of a 15- month old gorilla. >> we tried to watch to see any mourning behaviors in the gorillas. >> reporter: they went the only people checking on the gorillas. crowds gathered to watch them mourn and visitors left memorials for the lost gorilla. while they were being moved to the nighttime enclosure, the gorilla was crushed by an automatic door. this accident left olson wondering why it happened. >> i'm wondering why there wasn't a stopping device like on garage doors. we have them on our garage doors. you can put your foot in and it will stop. >> reporter: even though some are calling this death preventable, this man isn't holding it against the zoo. >> the situation is tragic but i think they were probably with what's common practice. i don't blame them this much at this point. >> reporter: instead of placing blame, he says more interested in -- he is more interesting in changing procedures for moving animals. >> a safety button that a person can push and the person who is opening the gate and closing the gate never leaves that button. >> reporter: he plans to send a letter to the association of zoos and aquariums and the san francisco zoo asking for this extra security to become standard practice. it was cloudy and cooler out there today. temperatures as much as 15 degrees cooler than what we saw yesterday. we were that much cooler in concord at 63 today. same thing in santa rosa, down 15 degrees. 60s bay area wide. upper 60s in the south bay. tonight, partly to mostly cloudy. pretty mild for the most part. tomorrow, increasingly as the rain approaches for the evening hours. it will linger into thursday morning. after that a chance of rain in the seven-day forecast but not until early next week. here's a look at the numbers out the door tomorrow morning. mainly in the upper 40s and low 50s. 52 in san francisco. 49 in fremont. afternoon, very similar to what we saw out there today. 60s bay area wide. upper 60s in the south bay. low 60s pretty much everywhere else. satellite and radar picture, a steady increase in cloud cover this afternoon. ahead of the storm that's sitting over the coastal waters still. here's the tail end of it here moving into the bay area tomorrow evening. let's take a look at futurecast four. 8:00 the rain approaching over the coastal waters. 9:00, 10:00, in full swing in the north bay. in fact, already starting to sag south of the golden gate into the 10:00-hour. notice, though, all the light greens here on your screen. then the yellow. we're only expecting lighter showers, not even moderate showers to be embedded in this. 1:00-hour, fairly widespread light rain through the bay area. continuing to sag south as we move into the 4:00-hour. now mainly impacting the east bay and the south bay. and the rain won't really start to taper off in the later morning hours. it could linger in some spots until 10:00. even though the futurecast isn't reflecting that. after 10:00 we'll be dry bay area wide. you see a few isolated showers here in the 10:00-hour. rainfall totals with this system generally not all that impressive. generally under a quarter of an inch. east bay, south bay, only a few hundredths. a look at the extended forecast tomorrow evening into thursday morning. rain returns to the bay area. it will be dry friday andstay d saturday too. there is a slight chance. next best chance of rain after tomorrow will be late sunday into monday. chance of showers linger through the day on monday and into early tuesday. in a video and a statement on the white house website, president obama gave his opinion on a controversial issue impacting the internet, which is before the fcc. it's net neutrality. the ultimate decision by the fcc could directly impact how much you pay for access to the information superhighway. currently the internet is free and open to everyone at the same speed. but internet providers such as comcast and at&t want companies such as amazon to pay a premium fee to have access to an internet fast lane. but that could also mean that companies like netflix, which use a lot more bandwidth than most sites, could be forced to pay more and that cost could be passed on to customers. president obama has sided with opponents of the fast lanes and urged the fcc to adopt measures that he says will keep the internet free and open to all. but in order to ensure that goal the fcc would be forced to regulate the internet just as it does other utilities now. apple is going to have a big problem. cybersecurity experts have discovered a flaw within iphones and ipads that can let hackers inside the i-devices and steal information. stay tuned to kron4 news. that's hackers getting inside their i-device and stealing information. security researchers with fire eye say they have found a flaw in ios that could let a hacker install a fake version of an app you use on your device. this fake app would over write the real version of the app, masking the hack, thus the name mask attack. once the fake version of the app is installed on your device, hackers could use malware to steal your information or do a number of bad things. these fake apps can land on your device if you are fooled into installing them. i know it's confusesing. here's an example. if you have the twitter app installed on your device and somehow you are shown a link to update your twitter app, maybe a text message or e-mail or you run across it web surfing. if you click on the link to download the update, that could be a fake version of the app. that means the legitimate copy of twitter would be replaced with an impostor version that could contain malware and send sensitive data from your device to another user or server. bottom line, the best way to protect yourself is to only download apps and updates for those apps on your iphone or ipad from the actual apple app store. one good thing, so far there has been no reports of anyone victimilesed by this type of hack. apple has not commented yet on this supposed security flaw. if they validate the threat, they will likely send out a patch for the bug. a quick look at traffic at this hour on the bay area bridges. toll plaza, all lanes moving well. golden gate bridge, north and southbound traffic, a little bit heavier than on the bay bridge, but certainly traffic moving well at this hour. and san mateo bridge, well, look at that. it's so heavy the picture froze. no, it's heavy. pretty much in both directions east the engineer was last seen halloween night, his loved ones have been handing out his fliers all over the city, hoping someone has seen the 26-year-old. i'm pan pam moore. his family is desperate for answers and there are new details on the search. kron 4 is live in san francisco with more. dan. >>reporter: well, pam, as you mentioned, it's been 11 days since he went missing. family members don't want to leave it to police. they've taken it upon themz to visit businesses and hopes surveillance individual joy yeo might -- video might lead to information. has been missing since halloween night. tuesday, his family got friends called a significant update from police. but are not ready to release that information. but family members are not leaving the search just to police. in addition to posting fliers this weekend, on monday, family members went to stores near his brandon street hope, in hopes surveillance video may shed some light on his disappearance. this whole foods at 4th and harrison. his friends tell us surveillance video from halloween night shows someone in a red hoodie coming into the store and then quickly leaving. the images from the rear so there's no confirmation it is ha, however, he was wearing a red hooded sweat thirty, when he was last -- sweatshirt when he was last seen. >> and we're back live in san francisco, serp several events are taking place throughout the week in hopes that that will lead to others continuing with this search. those going to be a prayer service tomorrow evening, that's going to be taking place at st. matthews luth ran church. that's the latest, reporting live in san francisco, kron 4 news. we are waiting for the san francisco medical examiner's office to identify a body pulled from san francisco bay. this morning. reports came in about 7:30 this morning of a body float ing in the bay near alcatraz at. it appears the person had been dead for about a week. the medical examiner will determine the cause of death. happening now, authorities are on the scene of a deadly officer invovmed shooting in menlo park. this is happening off of willow road between middle field road and waverly street. these pictures come from our helicopter partnership with abc 7. that's where kron 4's charles clifford is live with more on what happened. charles. >>reporter: i'm standing right at the corner of waverly and willow, the menlo police department is behind me here. willow remains closed from here to middle field. now, the menlo park police department says that they started receiving calls of a suspicious person in the area, here, around 1:30 this afternoon when officers arrived on scene, they found a male sup suspect involved in a burglary. one officer tried to use a taste taser, to stop him, that didn't work. the suspect pulled out a gun and police shot and killed him. also, one police officer did receive nonlife threatening injuries, now the suspect in this case may have actually been seen in the area before. according to some businesses in the area, there have been fliers floating around with the suspect's picture on it saying they may be trying to rob the area. i spoke to one woman today who says they saw this suspect in their office this afternoon. >> so we had the flier posted in our kitchen and as the guy looked pretty distinctive, our receptionist today ran back and said he's in the office. we watched him go to another office building right across from us, park his car, get out, and go in that building, but he came right back. >>reporter: back live now, the identity of the suspect in this case has not yet been released. in menlo park, charles clifford, kron 4 news sglchlt and the developing story, robin williams problems may have been more deep rootsed. tmz is reporting his suicide was triggered by dimension sha and hallucination. a terrible disease called -- body dementia, shoeshthed with parkinson's, people a fefkted by both often get severe side effects for the medication. william's wife had told authorities, that he had been complaining about the medicine and the way it made him feel t. doctors are agreeing now that the dementia was the key factor that drove him to kill himself. big changes coming to the bay area forecast. today, we saw the cloudy sky, we saw the cooler temperature, tomorrow, though, rain returns. we're taking a look at satellite and radar picture now k we've been seeing increasing clouds ahead of the storm today. continuing at this hour, the storm you can see is well offshore. here's the tail end of it. it's going to approach the bay area. we'll be looking at some rain. tonight, it be partly to mostly cloudy, temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s for the most part. we will be cooler than that in napa, 42 degrees there. 45 in santa roesz rosa. oakland and hayward. symptom afternoon to what we saw today. widespread 60s, but we will be seeing increasing clouds through the day and the rain moving into the evening tomorrow. 8:00 o'clock, the rain approaching, the north bay. it's going to continue to push in through the later evening hours and into thursday morning. so we're going to finish timing that out on futurecast him. a winner by the narrowest of margin, he returned to a campaign theme saying public safety will be his top priority, and that he will work to build bridges with the union and its members. >> and i think there are some opportunities for common ground here, where we can come to agreement with the police union, particularly over issues on changes, that the disability protection, strengthen those, to see how we can create incentives for retirement eligible officers to stay on board for a couple of years while we're hiring. there are a lot of opportunities, i think, for us to do that within our here's the storm offshore, tail end of it here. seeing the rain kick off into tomorrow evening. so here's a look on futurecast. 8:00 o'clock, approaching the baby 9:00, 10:00 o'clock, in full swing. showers will be starting up south of the golden gate. past midnight, fairly widespread light rain, notice it's all green here on futurecast. no yellows or original r oranges, which would indicate heavier downpours, light showers through the early morning hours on thursday. 4:00 o'clock, the rain is shifting down to the south. so the east bay seeing the light rain. i think the rain will taper off largely after 10:00 o'clock in the morning, especially south of golden gate. futurecast has it out of here earlier than that. but we are going to see dry conditions into the late morning hours and early on thursday. unfortunately, this storm is not going to be all that intense. up to a quarter inch of rain for most locations, more than in the north bay. and the coastal ranges in the santa cruz mountain, a chance of mountains next week, a lot more than that. but tomorrow, and thursday, light rain. friday, dry, saturday, also dry. same thing for most of sunday. that rain expected to kick off really monday into tuesday and again, right now, the long range computer models do show a decent amount of rain, making it to the bay area. we'll keep you posted. thousands of nurses throughout northern california have walked off the job today. they are picketed in front of kisor perm -- the two day strike kicked off this morning and it will last until 7:00 o'clock in the morning on thursday. the nurses are striking over claims that there has been an erosion of patient care standards in the facility for months. and that the company has failed to adopt oment mall safe guards for ebola. >> they have equipment in every room, the reality is nurses run defined equipment every day. they say we have everything we need, we do not. we have to hunt and find everything we need. so when you spend time looking, and you don't have what you need, it takes time away from the patient. >> a hospital association spokesperson says that they are working with federal, state and local agencies to assure the public that widespread precautions are in place to screen and identify infectious disease. kathryn. >> well, as of today, there are no ebola patients under treatment in the u.s.. although a lot of people are still being monitored. in new york the doctor who got sick after working with patients in guinea, he was released from the hospital. craig spencer, he got a big send off from the staff. an a mrauz. an appearance from the mayor of new york city. sperns who worked as an emergency room doctor says he is living proof that ebola can be stopped. >> my early detection francisco, the search for high-tech worker dan ha continuings. the san francisco man was last seen on halloween night. family members have taken it upon themselves to go to nearby businesses to see if surveillance video might have captured anything. one of their stops was whole foods, at 4th and harrison. and surveillance video on halloween night does show someone in a red hooded sweatshirt. that's what ha was wearing at the time he disappeared. however, in that video, the person is only seen from the rear, so officials cannot confirm that it was actually ha. in the meantime, friends tell us the family members met with police on tuesday and discussed some significant updates in the case, however, at this point, they are not ready to release or confirm anything. in san francisco, dan kerman, kron 4 news. >> the menlo park police department is investigating an officer involved shooting, around 12:30 this afternoon, they responded to the this area along willow road on reports of a suspicious person. they found one man burglarizeing a business. one officer attempted to tase the suspect, that didn't work. the suspect then according to police, pulled out a gun, officers then shot and killed him, one officer received nonlife threatening injuries. in menlo park, charles clifford, kron 4 news. investigators here at the richmond police department say a rise in recent shootings injuring five teenagers and fatally wounding a high school basketball star -- a beef between rival gangs in the city. >> the feud has heated up. many of the -- the central deep sea gang feud. we have a very pronounced law enforcement and sending the message that we're watching and we're going to disrupt this line of violence. 18,000 kaiser permanente nurses at dozens of facilities not on the job today, they're on the picket lines fighting for a new contract. they also claim that they want better patient care. as far as kaiser permanente is concerned, they say they brought in extra nurses because that ample time to prepare and they claim patient services not impacted during the 2 day strike. reporting from walnut creek, kron 4 news. >> a few hints about his incoming administration at city hall. a rooifg for the city's annual veteran's day parade, the mayor elect accepted congratulations and posed with pictures for supporters. he's already putting together a team to build a department. and restore the public's confidence in city hall's commitment to public safety. kron 4 news. here in alameda on this veteran's day, a large group that gathered here at the uss hornlt to honor those who served our country. including this group. these veterans are the last survivors of the carrier air group 11. the group had a very distinguished career, they served in world war ii and received a presidential award for their service. a documentary was made on the airmen to honor their service and a preview was shown to the crowd. here in alameda, kron 4 news. our big weather story tonight is the rain, rain set to return to the bay area tomorrow evening. and into thursday morning. we're already starting to see change, increasing cloud cover out there today. still seeing high ask low clouds. here is the core of the storm. the tail end of it, ooirt going to impact us tomorrow evening and into thursday morning. 8:00 o'clock, largely still dry, by 9:00, 10:00 o'clock, the rain is rolling in. light rain, though, you can see all the green here on the screen, representing light showers, we're going to continue through the morning on thursday. you see here in the 1:00 o'clock hour, it's fairly widespread. starting to move south by about 4:00, 5:00 o'clock. it does look like the rain is going to linger through about at least 7:00, 8:00 o'clock in the morning, even though futurecast shows it pushing into central valley by 7:00. the rain should all largely be done by 10:00. this is not going to be a huge rain make e up to a quarter of inch of rain for most location, we do have another changs of rain next week. dry friday, saturday and most of sunday. monday and tuesday, looks like a good shot of seeing a decent amount of rain. we'll keep you posted as it gets that was destroyed by a lava flow yesterday, they're already planning to move to their new home ten miles away. some people surprised that they're not getting farther away. the land they're going to build on was also covered by lava a few years ago. they lived in this rented house for 8 years, they cleared out last month when it seemed very likely the vol kaye no would reach the home and it finally did. officials in hawaii are reminding people more home are in danger and they are not far away from this one. >> this general area by the transfer station, it's four to 500 yards from the next slope. >> this was the first house to be burned by the lava. nearby garage and barn probably next in line. the family seems to be trying to take this in stride. again, they were ramping up their house, but they said it was kind of a stroing honor to be the first house to go. scientists have been warning people about the lava since august. many people in this area have either evacuated or they
