And warm temperatures mild temperatures for this point in january before it all changes about a week from now. And we see a real change from this mild condition. Elaine. Thank you. Now to the story still captivating the sports world. A tempest in the nfl teapot about underinflated footballs used by the patriots in their victory over the Indianapolis Colts. We have the latest on this. Good morning, anna. Reporter good morning. After days of silence of waiting for the nfl to say something, the nfl finally has confirmed that it is investigating and it has found evidence that those patriotss footballs were underinflated. In a statement friday the nfl said it is work to go find out why the balls were inflated below what league rules allow and whether any noncompliance was the result of deliberate action. They said nearly 40 interviews have been conducted but did not say whether they spoke with Quarterback Tom Brady. To investigate, the league has hired both a law firm and the company that said it has forensic expertise to assist in reviewing electronic and video information. The nfl takes their time. They try to figure out whats best for their brand. A sports Media Consultant says for the nfl its a question of how does this latest brewing controversy affect a brand worth billions of dollars. I dont think it helps any time you see your logo or the nfl shield dragged around. It raises the consciousness of what people think in the public who may not be focusing on nfl. It creates opinion. Total revenue for all nfl teams in 2013 was 9. 58 billion. More than cocacola or the gross domestic product. The super bowl is expected to bring in 4. 5 million for a 30second spot. The opinions of those sponsors matter. Kind of the back channeling that goes on is something that you dont really think about all the time if youre a fan. But you know if theres a problem and anheuserbusch is upset with something, that someone is on the phone from the nfl to the Brand Partners and the Brand Partners to say, hey, we dont like this. What are you doing about this and theyre addressing it. Some in the sports world are dismissing deflategate. A patriots backup quarterback, he would prepare new footballs for the quarterback. We take that and we rub it with a brush, like shoe polish brush. We would grind it down. You would deflate it because you want it more oblong to cut through the air. This is the first ever time in my career that i heard of psi and how much was supposed to be in a football. It will conduct more interviews in the days ahead, which makes it seem increasingly likely that these questions about how deflated footballs got into a championship game wont be resolved before the biggest game of all, next sunday. Anthony and elaine . In foxborough mass thank you. For most football fans, the biggest question in all of this will the controversy affect next sundays game when the patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks in super bowl xlix. Jordan schultzs that some thoughts on that. Good morning. They did their best impression of i know nothing. Do you buy it . I do not. You go back to 2007 elaine and anthony and spygate was that situation. Spygate was that situation. We all know they were indicted. Basically they recorded defensive signals from coaches which is totally illegal and they said the same thing. Coach belichick said hey, didnt know what was going on. Since hes the ceo of the operation, he knows exactly whats going on inside and outside the lines, so i dont believe it. And the nfl is looking at it. They leased a statement saying over the past essentially daughters over 40 interviews have been conducted including personnel, game officials and third parties with relevant information and expertise. How is it that tom brady was not one of the 40. Elaine how could they not send an investigator during the three days to the press conference and say, tom brady, did you know what was going on. This is the nfl at its best which means at its really worst. Roger goodell has been there eight years, the commissioner nearly eight years. Theyre reactive not proactive. Its the most popular Sports League in america by far, the super bowl will be insanely viewed and yet were dealing with this. Im getting tweets saying leave brady alone. Are we making too much about this . Do you think its going to affect the patriots . I dont think its going to affect the patriots at all. Maybe for pete carroll and the seahawks but in terms of tom brady, its not going to affect him at all. Hes been to a record six super bowls. If he win this one, will be number four. Bill belichick, i think it affects his legacy. He was involved with spygate. To me he has a bigger scar on him that he did not have before regardless of what happens in the super bowl. Jordan schultz, thanks so much for being with us this morning. Thank you. This doesnt end.
