charge of the fleet is being removed. and a strange we are a super sized vehicle comes to the rescue of a family trapped on their roof by rising floodwaters. good morning from cbs news headquarters in new york. good to be with you. i'm ann marie green. president trump used a political rally in phoenix to deliver another freewheeling attack on the media and fellow republicans, speaking to some of his most loyal and focal supporters, mr. trump also threatened to shut down the government over the wall he wants to build on the mexican border. outside, police clashed with protesters and four people were arrested. nicky, good morning. >> good morning, ann marie. president trump's defensive speech to thousands in phoenix angered protesters. he did slam the media saying several news outlets selectively quote the remarks on the violence in charlottesville and ignored his message of unity. >> police officers in riot gear used tear gas to break up protests outside president trump's rally in phoenix, arizona. inside the city's convention center, the president spent the majority of his time claiming the media is responsible for dividing the nation and at aftermath of violence in charlottesville, virginia, insisting it twisted his words. >> it's time to expose the crooked media deceptions and to challenge the media for their role in formenting divisions. >> reporter: among the several other subjects the president touched upon, the need to reform immigration. he also again insisted a wall on the mexican border will be built. >> believe me, we have to close down our government we're building that wall. >> reporter: on health care, he said he made a promise not to mention any mamz eluding to john mccain. he was one of three senate republicans to cross party lines and shoot down the new health care bill with his last minute thumbs down vote. >> we are going to get rid of obamacare. i will never stop. one vote! i will never stop. >> reporter: president trump committed to passion the biggest tax cut in american history. and eluded to a pardon for controversial former arizona share joe arpaio convicted of ignoring a federal judge's order to stop detaining people because he suspected them of being undocumented immigrants. >> this morning james clapper questioned the president's ability to run the country. he said he found president trump's rally to be down right scary and disturbing. ann marie? >> nicky here in new york, thank you so much. >> well, following a series of accidents in the pacific, the commander of the navy's seventh fleet is losing his job. vice admiral is being relieved of duties days after the collision of a guided missile destroyer and oil tanker east of singapore. ten sailors from the uss john s. mccain were missing after the collision. yesterve rev mains in one of the ship's compartments and another body was found about it ma lags navy. back to president trump who said last night that "he respects the fact that north korean leader is starting to respect us." secretary of state rex tillerson said kim demonstrated some level of restraint by not conducting a missile test towards guam as he had threatened. meanwhile, the administration imposed sanctions on 16 mainly chinese and russian companies and people for aiding the north's nuclear and missile program. congress is proposing legislation that would require the president to notify lawmakers before creating a joint cybersecurity unit with russia. they told him about a company that has ties to the russian government and reaches tens of millions of u.s. homes. >> reporter: cbs news confirmed that fbi officials have met with private industry representatives to relay concerns about a moscow based cyber company with suspected ties to russian intelligence. fbi agents have interviews kaspersky employees working in the u.s. rob joyce, the nation's cybersecurity czar is warning consumers against using the company's popular anti-virus software. would you advise your family, parents positive use it?
