bizarre new place, on a financial collision course with the rest of europe, perhaps on the way out of the eurozone for good. this as american markets are set to open tomorrow after the holiday weekend, potentially with more fireworks to come. we begin with holly williams in athens. >> reporter: jeff, greece is standing on the very brink ofnd bankruptcy. but tonight here in athens people are celebrating because their country rejected the terms of an $8 billion extended financial bailout. greece is now in uncharted waters. greece went to the polls thisgr morning, a vote to decide the country's future in the place that invented democracy.nv despite looming disaster giorgos karagiannakis told us he voted know to the extended bailout because greece needs to negotiate a better deal with its foreign creditors. >> we need them to focus. we are in a dire situation okay, i get that. but we have to understand thatst right now the good people, they n can't take it anymore. >> reporter: greece's radical left wing prime minister alexis tsipras agrees and urged his people to vote no.gr he likened the terms demanded by greece's international creditorso to blackmail. those terms include steep tax hikes, slashing pensions, and sla public spending cuts. but like many others, marina birdimiri believe that without bailout greece could face catastrophe and be forced to leave the single european currency. she voted yes. >> my worst fears are that greece is going to go back likeack 60 years, that my daughter who is two and a half, she's going to have to grow up the way my parents, my father grew up. >> reporter: greece has been bailed out twice in the last five years, with loans from foreign creditors of over $250n billion. but the country's economy shows no signs of recovery, with unemployment at over 25%. with fears of a run on greece's banks, they've been shut for ash week, withdrawals from cash machines are limited to just under $60 a day, and in the midst of this greek tragedy, the country's deeply divided on how to change its fortunes. prime minister tsipras says he doesn't want greece to leave the single european currency. but that and whether greece ise given yet another financial bailout will ultimately be decided by europe. by and jeff, the leaders of the eurozone's two biggest economies, germany and france will meet tomorrow in paris. >> glor: heading to brussels with a mandate. the greg people have spoken. they said austerity no more, it has hurt the greek economy andit h has caused great suffering. they have a point. the greek economy has contracted by 25% but strangely enough, europeans have no meeting planned for tomorrow. so i don't know where this goes from here, so if europe staysos tough and says good-bye, that is still a distinct possibility. >> absolutely there a lot ofd your means who said if the v greeks voted no, that was really v a vote to leave the eurozone. and although they may not have seen it that way, europeans are sort of saying we're secretaryayin of this too.to angela merkel supposedly said to some her cabinet members that she thinks that the greek prime minister pushed his people into a wall and they are to the going to be able to save the day. >> glor: so let's talk markets tomorrow, coming off the july 4th holiday weekend, the marketse were closed on friday, the question is what happens next. markets don't like uncertainty this is a lot of uncertainty. loo >> it sure is when you look at the european markets, they're trading lower. the euro itself is down and i think u.s. futures are pointing lower and it could get messier as the day goes on.ld last week we had a terrible monday, the rest of the we can got better, this we can may not see that same recovery were ses. it's going to be messy, be s prepared for a bumpy ride. >> glor: thanks very much. a fourth of july family party quickly turned to panic when the deck at a north carolina beach house suddenly collapsed. two dozen people were hurt, two of them critically. >> reporter: wooden beams and broken timbers, what's left from the screened-in deck in emerald aisle north carolina. family from across the country had gathered at a vacation rental for a fun, fourth of july weekend.ee as they posed for a group picture, the deck collapsed, crashing from 10 feet down. jackie starky was the first reporter to arrive. >> that left part of that second story deck, the whole floor just completely fell through.ll >> reporter: a neighbor called 911 and told the dispatcher to tol send as many crews as possible. police say 24 people went to theeo local hospital for treatment. five people in such serious condition, they were transferred to other hospitals. >> it's very critical injuriess v multiple bone fractures, m concerns about spinal issues. >> reporter: last night in utah, four people got hurt out on a deck with 11 others when it gave way. these kind of collapses are especially shocking when they're caught on camera. like this gone wrong on prom night in 2012, in indiana. a year later in the same state another deck failed during a family picture just before christmas. last month six people were killed when a balcony gave way in berkeley, california.er investigators there focused on the dry rot of the wooden sport beams. in north carolina, they say the deck fasteners were deteriorating. after the consumer product c safety commission found 21 instances where people got hurt when decks collapsed, jeff.e >> glor: contessa brewer, thank you very much. there was a crash landing on ath crowded beach in california. this happened in carlsbad, the pilot struggled to find a spot to land, as you can see here before then dropping.as one 12 year old boy on the ground was sent to the hospital with a gash on his head.is again the pilot okay. at least two people are deadat after a boating accident on the ohio river. officials say a pontoon carry being ten people hit a bridge and then capsized late last night. three others from the boat are still missing. just days before the adjusted deadline for a final nuclear se deal with iran, secretary of state john kerry says those talks could go either way. margaret brennan is covering the talks in vienna. >> reporter: secretary kerry warned iran that if it does not bend on the most difficult issues remaining, he'll leaveaini vienna without a nuclear deal. >> if there is absolute intransigence, if there is an unwillingness to move on the u things that are important,th president obama has always said we'll be prepped to walk away. >> reporter: kerry's hastily scheduled remarks came just after senate republican and foreign relations committee chairman bob corker told "face the nation" that the u.s. already made too many concessions. >> the type of agreement that has been reached certainly is one that is more to theirr benefit than it is that the rest of the world that does not want to see them proliferate. >> reporter: with two days million the deadline, the most sensitive issues remaining are whether inspectors will be allowed anywhere, any time access to all of iran'scces suspected nuclear facilities. will iran agree to fullyn cooperate with an investigation into its past nuclear activity. and how much nuclear development iran will be allowed to resume after a deal expires. congress is set to begin reviewing a potential deal by thursday but chairman corker told kerry to take his time in order to get a stronger deal. but the administration fears that stretching this out will only give skeptics more time to skewer it, jeff. >> glor: margaret brennan, thank you. it was another bloody day in nigeria. a suicide bombing left six dead and more injured. that will likely be the main part of a pattern of violence that will likely be the main focus of discussion later this month during a visit from president obama. here's debora patta. >> reporter: this battered shell of a building is all that remains of the redeemed existian church of god in the nigerian city of potsikum. it had been full of sunday worshippers but their prayers were shattered when a woman packed with explosives blew herself up in the crowdedl evangelical service. at least six people lay dead peo many more are still being treated for injuries. well over a year ago the extremist islamic group boko haram shot to infamy after kidnapping more than 200 school girls on the eve of their final exams.th they still remain missing. nigeria's new president muhammadu buhari won a contested election in part by promising to crush boko haram but since his inauguration at the end of may the militant group stepped upl its violence, steadily eroding victories claimed by the nigerian army. and it is not only christians targeted. today's suicide bombing marks the end of a week of carnage in which more than 200 people have been killed in northeastern nigeria.th in multiple attacks boko haram gunned down worshippers at ramadan prayers and detonated suicide bomb along a highway. in the west of the bloodletting, up to 150 people were killed near lake chad, promising president buhari to condemn the massacres as inhuman and barbaric. debora patta,
