the day, low clouds through the morning, temperatures staying average all week long and, yes, we'll see winds start to pick up this afternoon. it looks like we are going to check in now on traffic with jaclyn. good morning. and happy tuesday, everyone. things are backed up in the cash lanes at the bay bridge toll plaza. nothing new. 12 minutes from the maze into san francisco. we are tracking street closures and this is in sonoma. gas line break on highway 12 between 4th and 5th streets. that's the traffic. back to you guys. two people were in custody in connection with a deadly shooting at a bay area tourist hot spot at twin peaks in san francisco last month. as kpix 5's sharon chin reports, a different crime, an armed robbery at st. mary's cathedral square, led investigators to the suspects. >> reporter: police made the robbery first then made the connection to thkilling here at twin peaks. officers arrested 19-year-old lamont nins of patterson a convicted felon and 20-year-old person of san francisco. >> both these individuals are responsible for the murder. >> reporter: the pair of suspects is accused of shooting 71-year-old edward french a commercial locations scout at the twin peaks lookout last month. a good samaritan gave cpr and police called my 101 but french died in the hospital with a gunshot in the upper body. his camera was stolen. then two weeks later a 53-year- old man and 33-year-old woman had their wallet and camera stolen at gunpoint at st. mary's cathedral square. police say they did not have life-threatening injuries. investigators arrested the two men for the armed robbery, then made a connection to the twin peaks shooting. >> cameras were taken in both instances. but evidence was obtained from both scenes that linked the two cases together. >> reporter: police wouldn't go into specifics but surveillance video and witnesses helped put it together. officers say the two suspects are charged with homicide, robbery and using a firearm. police say mims had a previous firearms charge. at the twin peaks lookout, 24/7 police patrols continue. the heavier security started after french was killed. even before that, this was an increase in crime. visitors are glad two people are arrested. >> that helps people feel safer people getting caught. >> reporter: police are looking into whether they are connected to any other crimes. sharon chin, kpix 5. >> police are trying to discover if there are more victims of a bay area man accused of a doctor and sexually assaulting a female patient in san jose. a 47-year-old was taken into stody friday at his business two weeks after the alleged incident. he owns this pharmacy on west alma avenue. he conducted a phony exam and sold the woman pills for ailments he claimed she had. here's a youtube clip of him discussing remedies but police say he was never licensed to practice medicine. now detectives are hoping other victims will reach out to them. some in the east bay are skeptical about the safety of their [ indiscernible ] with bacteria. people in dublin are worried about their water. >> it's not something you want to hear. >> reporter: william is relieved his family has an ro water filtration system after word that drinking water on his street in dublin tested positive for e. coli last week. >> e. coli, that's fecal matter as far as i know. >> reporter: the dublin-san ramon services distribute says the water is okay now, that the test was the canary in the coal mine. >> when we get a positive test, it's saying you need to get more chlorine in the water. >> reporter: how can it possibly be safe for me to drink this water? >> um, because we treat it. >> reporter: sue says on thursday, the system was flushed repeatedly and retested on williams street and two other streets that tested positive for the bacteria. >> the second day samples everything came back clean. there was no problem. >> reporter: they don't know why the water was positive for e. coli they say it may have to do with the drought. the water district normally flushes a quarter of the system yearly but drought guidelines disrupted that in two years. >> we had two years where nothing was flushed so we're resuming flushing. >> reporter: no health problems for williams. >> no plans to get bottled water. >> reporter: hristin ayers, kpix 5. time now 4:35. neda is here with the forecast. >> so? >> is waking up the early birds is waking up to a nice look at the bay bridge. you will see more waves because of winds coming through the area throughout the day. we are in the 50s and 60s this morning. out the door keep that in mind. temperatures will be very similar to yesterday. a wider view of what's going on across northern california. there's a lot of activity but all that has moved east as you can see so that's leaving us alone which is leaving our temperatures very steady, our conditions very steady and normal for what they should be this time of the year. there's an upper-level trough that were come through at 5 to 6 miles an hour west-northwest. 22 in fairfield. so winds will pick up er 25 miles per hour this afternoon. sunshine will finally reach us this afternoon around 11, noon. fog and clouds will clear up. sunshine will be here and temperatures will stay right on average where they should be. coming up shake-ups in the forecast. good morning. right now we are tracking a light ride into san francisco the golden gate bridge and bay bridge. smooth conditions. we had a backup in the cash lanes but still 12 minutes from the maze into do you understand. we are tracking the usual slowdowns along westbound 205 for folks making their way through tracy the "super commuters" on westbound 580 through livermore, 23 minutes between 205 and 680, the dublin- pleasanton interchange. we have roadwork causing some delays. yes. i would say so! this is along northbound 101 right between anza and millbrae. so if you are heading to sfo, be advised if you are traveling along northbound 101, caltrans has three lanes closed. now, they should re-open those by 5 a.m. but you can see that backup is stretching all the way into burlingame. so give yourself some extra time. we continue to monitor the roads also -- excuse me -- up in napa -- or sonoma, napa street closed between 4th and 5th. bart has no trains running at this time. we'll check in with them and find out what's going on. back to you. north korea's lashing out at the u.s. over tough new sanctions imposed by the u.n. security council saying under no circumstances would the regime negotiate over its nuclear weapons program. in a statement, the north vows the u.s. will pay by 1,000-fold for heinous crimes against north korea and that it is ready to teach the u.s. a severe lesson. the sanctions are expected to cost north korea as much as $1 billion. mostly by banning exports of coal, iron and seafood. secretary of state rex tillerson said the sanctions are not going to work unless they are enforced and he called on china and russia to help do that. u.s. intelligence says north korea's military is preparing another test launch of a missile. ♪[ music ] 4:39. google has fired the employee who wrote a memo that sparked a worldwide debate. what the company says was behind the decision. gap-- is out of a job. the employee wrote a forum, saying: "biological causes" may equal repres a google engineer who wrote an email about the gender gather was fired. he said biological causes may explain why we don't see equal representation. men have a higher drive for status and women on average have more -- they are neurotic. >> these types of views have an impacts. if these views, the views that certain people have the inate ability to become engineers and others don't that perpetuates the culture in silicon valley. >> google has made he was to diversify but progress is limited. its total workforce is 69% men, 56% white, 35% asian, 2% black. google responded saying that the document advanced incorrect assumptions about gender, we don't encourage that. as for the decision to fire the engineer, google's ceo says that the company violated -- the employee violated the company code of conduct and crossed the line by advancing stereotypes some women in silicon valley are fighting back! they say they are fed up with sexual harassment. as kpix 5's betty yu reports, their strategy is to reward the good guys. >> i wanted -- >> reporter: this group of silicon valley founders inspired by women who ve called out venture capitalist who behave bad are fighting the industry's sexual harassment problem with a new tool. they have created a platform called fair funders. it will allow users to give feedback and rate investors. >> our goal is not to be like pointing fingers so look at this bad guy, our goal is the total opposite. our goal is there are so many great people out there that are lost. let's highlight that. >> reporter: she founded startup chef [ non-english language ] designed to teach children math, science and geography through cooking. she wished she had access to a website when she was fundraising. she says many biased investors doubted her dedication. >> how dedicated are you to this startup? very dedicated. do you have a family? >> yes, i have a family. then they would ask how many kids do you have? do you have kids? >> reporter: vivian lee founder of you, me, who, built the database for the site. >> so females have know who are good and bad investors. >> reporter: this expert says the gender problem in the vc world can't be ignored much longer. >> think with anecdotal evidence and people looking at this now, it does seem to be disproportionate in the venture capital industry. i expect that there will be self correction. i also expect that there will be culture change and it's going to happen sooner rather than later. >> reporter: betty yu, kpix 5. no decision in a debate over housing in san mateo county. brisbane is considering whether to include housing in a development plan. the 640-acre brisbane baylands project calls for new retail and commercial space and the developer wants to build up to 4400 new homes with it. some residents want the development but not the housing. a battle over a bike lane is under way in san francisco. cyclists along valencia in the mission are supposed to have the lane all to themselves but it has become a popular pickup and drop-off spot for uber and lyft drivers. the san francisco bicycle coalition is trying to come up with a solution to keep riders out of harm's way. >> from our point of view what could be easiest is the parking protect design. it's a change of paint and we have seen it implemented in under six months and other stretches in the city. >> cyclists say things become even more dangerous during the weekend when more drivers are pulling up to that lane. two hikers in the high sierra got the stink eye from a mountain lion. they stared back and caught it on their phones. you can see it leaves them behind and raise down a trail. once they round a curve, they catch it gazing right down at them from just a few feet away. they slowing back away. biologists say that's the right thing to do. but what would you do? >> my instinct would be to run. >> i think the mountain lion would catch you but that stare, this is my trail. >> wasn't even blinking. >> i don't think i would run. >> hopefully no mountain lions today. we are going to see a beautiful day. san jose taking a live look and yes, some of the clouds have worked their way through san jose as well and they are going to linger. current temperatures: today mostly sunshine, same as yesterday. it felt so nice around midday. so if you have lunch plans, take them outside. temperatures will stay on average. this system to the northeast of us is going east towards neva and it's basically not changing our forecast whatsoever. we are going to get that marine layer coming through and as we set this into motion it hung around until noon and goes over the water. clouds work their way through this afternoon. staying deep through concord and fairfield and cloud cover working its way in. here's what we're look at. an upper-level trough will hang around causing winds to pick up slightly. winds changing. by this afternoon, we'll get 10 to 20-mile-per-hour winds. highs for today 80 degrees in napa. 72 in vallejo. redwood city expecting to see 80 today. those are all average temperatures where we should be. here's the seven-day forecast: temperatures in the 60s along the coast today. 60s to 90s today. good morning. right now, we are tracking a nice easy right if you are heading to the south bay this morning. no signs of yellow or red all green and green go. let's take it to 101. delays with caltrans due to overnight roadwork. three lanes shut down between anza and millbrae. those should be reopened by 5:00. we'll keep our fingers crossed but in the meantime, if you are heading to sfo, be advised that there are delays heading in that northbound direction. so use an alternate route or give give. over at the san mateo bridge out of hayward to foster city, we're looking good, taillights westbound 13 minutes no grass that eastbound as well and making your way through oakland, caltrans does have overnight roadwork on the southbound direction but only one lane closed and you can see traffic light st. peter's moving at the limit and things are still looking good at the bay bridge toll plaza. time now 4:49. one san francisco neighborhood has a whole lot of upset millionaires this morning after a local couple bought their street. we'll explain. who are these people?
