Coming up, a record dry year and with no rain in the forecast, Ann Notarangelo shows us some people in the bay area are rushing to store whatever water already exists. Reporter think of home storage and think of storing things. But these days, more and more people are going into a Home Improvement store in santa rosa to store water. More in the last few months than in the past. I think we are doing record sales this year. Reporter last month, they increased their water storage tank sales by 40 and by the end of the winter, they expect to double their sales from last year. Customers with buying 450 to 5,000 gallon tanks at a cost of 600 to 3,000 just in case we dont get any more rain. I do see a sense of urgency when people want to do this. Reporter for people in rural settings, this is insurance in case the aquifers on their properties dry up. Typically they will take it from their own wells or streams and rivers in the area if youre on the farm. Reporter one agricultural commissioner says its not clear if this kind of water storage affects others relying on the same water sources and this could get ugly these are rain harvesting tanks. Reporter more and more customers are gearing up in case we do get rain with rain harvesting equipment. You can catch water from your roofs and there are rebate programs. But this is to store whats here when every, single drop counts. In santa rosa, Ann Notarangelo, kpix 5. Companies that make the water storage tanks may run dry themselves. They think demand could exceed supply this year. Id like to think we got some rain on the way but its going to be hot this week. I dont see any rain. I see recordbreaking temperatures this week and next week. Going to keep things dry now. Sure, it looks beautiful but we need rain. Of course, the dry conditions up in the mountains and thats the big concern over the next couple of days. Red flag warnings are now posted in the north and east bay hills. We have been watching some of the winds kicking up overnight, some of those 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour. I have seen some occasional gusting to 40 Miles Per Hour. So be very, very careful. Anything in those mountains is very dry. We just havent had any rain. And humidity levels are expected to be below 10 today. That red flag warning extended until 8 a. M. On thursday. All right. So far for the second straight morning, there are no reports of fires on the eastern edge of downtown san jose. No reports of any problems. A woman from the north bay has died after falling from a sea size cliff in san diego. 25yearold Anna Bachmann was posing for a photo when the cliff gave way under her. It happened sunday afternoon in an area marked with signs warning that the cliff can be unstable. Her sister was taking her picture when police say bachmann fell 40 to 50 feet. There were two nurses here who hustled down the cliff and began cpr and first aid as well as a couple of surfers and they did their best but it just wasnt meant to be. She was a cal graduate pursuing a masters degree at the university of illinois in chicago. This flu season is not letting up. Four more flurelated deaths are reported here in the bay area. Two of them were in Santa Clara County plus two more in santa cruz and san mateo counties. It brings the number of flu deaths in the area to 14. Its been a run on flu vaccines, too. Some pharmacies are running out but they say they are ordering extra doses now to keep up with the demand. A vacaville pastor is under arrest for firebombing his ex girlfriends house. Police say mark lewis and three others threw a molotov cocktail from a car early thursday morning. 6 people were sleeping inside the house. No one was hurt. Investigators believe lewis is linked to several other incidents targeting the same woman including breaking her car windows and setting fire to the bushes outside her home. Petaluma meat processor is recalling more than 41,000 pounds of beef. The usda says the beef from the Rancho Feeding Corporation was produced without a full federal inspection. The 2016 president ial hopeful has touted himself as a politician who works with both sides. But that image has come under fire as members of his staff are accused of orchestrating a imagine traffic jam at the George Washington bridge as political payback. Reporter a special legislative committee is being formed to find out if the traffic problems last fall were intentionally caused after fort lees mayor, a democrat, wouldnt endorse christies re election. My hope is that none of this becomes simply partisanship. A democratic congressman says the contract went to a firm that promised to feature christies family even though its bid was more expensive. A christie Spokesman Says the federal law [ indiscernible ] is routine. Two veteran pilots are grounded after touching down at the wrong airport in the midwest. The error led to a rough landing. Reporter the Southwest Airlines 737 took off without incident today after landing at the wrong airport last night. Southwest flight 4013 with 124 passengers on board was headed from chicagos Midway Airport to Branson Airport in missouri. Somehow they landed at an airport 7 miles away with a shorter runway, only 3700 feet, roughly half the length of bransons runway. After landing, the pilots slammed on the brakes. No one was hurt but passengers said they were pitched forward by the sudden stop. Mary melker was on the flight. The road looked like it was three blocks long and thats it. And we were the only plane there. So it was kind of hard to imagine that they didnt know they shouldnt have been there. Reporter the plane stopped at the end of the runway at an embankment overlooking a four lane highway. A passenger took these photographs of the cockpit and the runway as he exited the plane. It was a surreal scene with all of the flashes lights. Reporter wrong airport landings are not unheard of. In november 747 cargo plane landed nine miles off court at the wrong airport in wichita, kansas. The National Transportation safety board has pulled the flight data and voice recorders. High pressure will stick around and bring sunshine and some unusually warm temperatures all around the state. And as you get inside the bay plenty of sunshine about 72 degrees in oakland. That could be a record. 69 in San Francisco. That would tie a record if we hit that number.
