announcements. >> reporter: now, the injured students are recovering at san francisco general hospital this morning. one of the students, a girl, was in life-threatening condition at last check. there was also one boy who went to the bayview police station 2.5 miles away from the school. police are saying this was a targeted shooting and they are saying they know who the target was. but they have no suspect description to give us at this time. all know is that there were four men wearing hoodies, a vague description. live in san francisco, anne makevoc, kpix 5. all right. let's check in with roqui now for a look at our morning commute. >> first the altamont pass leading into the traffic alert area. very slow conditions coming out of tracy at just 18 miles per hour. north tracy boulevard to the altamont pass will take you a slow 35 minutes. and livermore is pretty deceiving because you will have some free moving traffic through there and then you will get to the traffic alert here westbound 580 before hopyard. it's a two big rig crash still blocking the two right lanes and the hopyard road on-ramp is completely closed right now. chp is saying this will take about an hour to an hour and a half to completely clear and the accident happened at around 4:30 this morning and the traffic alert was issued around 5:15. moving upwards to the antioch/pittsburg area highway 4 moving very slowly in that area, too. just about 19 miles per hour if you're inching your way through the area. and over to the south bay now, eastbound 237 we have a new crash before great america parkway. it's a two-car crash still blocking one lane and the other car is in the center divide. so we do have chp and crews on the way to clear that out for you but otherwise, looking good in the area. and in the south bay northbound 101 moving slowly around that 680/280 split. that's it for traffic. i'll send it to you. >> all right, roqui. thank you. hi, roqui. good morning, everybody. as you get read do plan on stepping out the door this is what you can anticipate today. first off this morning it's a little more mild than 24 hours ago and then later today, we're talking about three to 7 degrees warmer than on tuesday. now, i'd like to show this. it is the tip-top of the bay bridge on the eastern span of the bay bridge stands 525 feet above the bay waters and i like to show this because when you can see that blinking light that's a good thing. we are cloud-free. temperatures 48 degrees in livermore at the estuary in oakland it's 60 degrees at 46 in santa rosa, 51 in san jose going up to a high there today of 77. so warm today than on tuesday. 70 at rockaway beach. 70s common around the peninsula with ample sunshine. a bit of a breeze late day morgan hill up to 80. 83 in gilroy. and you will notice around the rim of the bay temperatures pretty consistent in the mid- 70s but due east, we top off in the low 80s with that dry northwest breeze. it's offshore 10 to 20 miles per hour. humidity goes down near the carquinez strait back in through vallejo. 60s today bodega bay through stinson beach to the 70s in throughout terra linda and san rafael. 80s from novato through sonoma and into glen ellen and also the napa area then upstream 70s and 80s common but today is going to be the warmest day of the workweek. we'll pinpoint that day and we are also going to talk about showers -- maria medina reports. >> reporter: we are standing in front of the reg star of voters office here in santa clara counties where in just a few hours counties leaders are going to hold a press conference to reassure voters that they can come out on election day and they have nothing to worry about. this started a few days ago when donald trump said that the election was stolen. he called for his supporters to watch the polls on election day saying that it was rigged by, quote, the dishonest media and "crooked hillary" clinton. and because of what he said, many across the nation are now worried about intimidation at the polls. >> you got to get everybody you know and you got to watch your polling booths. so go over and watch. and watch carefully. >> reporter: so so far across the country, politicians are saying there is no evidence that there will be a wave of trump watchers at the polls. now, president obama recently responded to what trump said and we'll bring you his response coming up on the next half-hour. live in santa clara county, maria medina, kpix 5. examiners every. oakland police say a man who detonated a bomb at a health clinic was trying to kill himself. he died in the explosion at 6:30 last night at the san antonio neighborhood health center on international boulevard. witnesses say he entered the clinic in a wheelchair and detonated what looked like a pipe bomb. no one else was hurt. piedmont police have nabbed two men who they say broke into a home pointed a gun at the residents and demanded cash and electronics. these men were arrested moments after allegedly breaking into the home on scenic avenue on tuesday. police say a third man got away. this is the second home invasion robbery in the city in 48 hours. police don't believe the suspects in custody are responsible for the other incidents. a unique exhibit highlighting the history of the black panthers opens today at uc-berkeley school of journalism called power to the people and features photographs of the group 50 years since its founding. they were militants and radicals. but a professor claims the black panthers are an important part of the country's struggle for civil rights. >> in a way, they were way ahead of their time in terms of in terms of being in the community, offer community services and "watching the police." >> the panthers formed in west oakland on october 15th, 1966. this morning, san francisco mayor ed lee will pay tribute to the first responders to a recent boat accident in bay waters. the boat this 30 people on board when it caps -- had 30 people on board when it capsized this month. eight people were hospitalized but no one died in the accident. today's ceremony is set for 10 a.m. at san francisco city hall. ♪[ music ] arraignment is scheduled today for the man accused of killing a san leandro warehouse worker in a hit-and-run. kadeem edwards ran over him with a pickup truck at true world foods on monday. police say 51-year-old takeshi watanabe was trying to stop edwards from stealing from the store when he was run over. the suspect's truck was found in east oakland hours after the homicide. police say there were wooden pallets stolen from the warehouse in the back of the truck. today a big day in novato where a unique affordable housing community will officially open. oma village has 14 small rent homes for families transitioning from homelessness. there was a setback when the place was burglarized but it was replaced. john stumpf is off the board of another company. he also resigned from wells fargo. >> we use them on a regular basis. going forward, we are not going to use them for investments. we won't be using them as a broker/dealer or to underwrite any of our debt issuances. >> santa clara county supervisors voted to stop doing business with them outside of day-to-day operations and in san francisco supervisor john avalos introduced a resolution to cut ties with wells fargo and also demanding a review of all past dealings between the city and the bank. santa cruz county is also suspending new business with the bank for a year. commuters on caltrain into the city this morning are in for a treat. >> the san francisco flower mart will be handing out thousands of flowers to help brighten your day. each person will receive two bouquets, one to keep and one to share. the program was started because of data showing the positive emotional benefits of flowers. you can grab your bouquets at the caltrain station on 4th and king streets. they will be there from 7:30 to 9 a.m. so kenny, bring [ laughter ] >> i'll take it. >> can they bring some flowers to the altamont pass into dublin because that's where the traffic alert is. we need some better moods on those roads. okay. starting here, north tracy boulevard to the altamont pass is going to take you a slow 41 minutes. so very slow conditions in the area and as you get into livermore, it frees up but it's deceiving because in pleasanton there's a traffic alert. it was issued around 5:15 this morning. this is westbound 580 before hopyard road. it's a big rig crash involving two big rigs and that traffic is backed up to airway boulevard there on westbound 580. now, the accident is still blocking two right lanes, the hopyard ramp is closed. we'll keep you posted when it's cleared. if you need to avoid this area which we suggest you do, you can take dublin boulevard or stoneridge drive. now, moving over to the antioch/pittsburg area highway 4 is very slow conditions here in that area. 20 miles per hour you're inching your way through into pittsburg and off highway 4. now, moving over to the peninsula commute here's a look at slow traffic along the san mateo bridge. 880 to 101 is now up to 17 to 20 minutes so slow conditions there. and then a better look at the south bay where conditions are good so far. but we have a crash here, a two- car crash still blocking lanes eastbound 237 before great america parkway. one lane is blocked. the other car is in the center divide and keep in mind, there is some slow-moving traffic on northbound 101 into san jose at that 280/680 split. roberta, i'll send it to you for the weather. >> flowers for fish. what a deal. good morning, everybody! hey, you know what? it's out of the north. that's a strong indication we're now into our offshore push. temperatures in the 40s, 50s and 60s. 60 in oakland at this early hour. look at the satellite-radar. what do you see? >> thank you, roberta. time now 6:34. we are still dealing with that traffic alert in pleasanton. let's take a look now. first at the altamont pass headed into pleasanton from 205, you're inching your way into north flynn road at 11 miles per hour. it doesn't free up. here's a look at that traffic alert in pleasanton now. westbound 580 before hopyard road, it's been out there since 4:30 this morning. the traffic alert was issued at 5:15. it's involving two big rigs and they are still blocking two right lanes and the hopyard on- ramp is still closed. the traffic is backing up to airway boulevard. try dublin boulevard or stoneridge as alternates. over to the antioch/pittsburg area we have a new crash on highway 4. this is westbound 4 before loveridge road. the motorcycle is still blocking one lane and causing traffic to move at just 8 miles per hour so very slow conditions. but we do suggest you take railroad instead. i'll send it to you, michelle. the last debate of the presidential campaign is almost here. republican presidential nominee donald trump and his democratic rival hillary clinton will take the stage at unlv in las vegas tonight. fox news anchor chris wallace will moderate, which will be divided into 15-minute segments. immigration, entitlements and debt and the supreme court are among the topics on the agenda. you can watch the candidates square off live right here on kpix 5 at 6:00. some voters worry that they may be bullied at the polls after donald trump's calls to watch for voter fraud on election day. kpix 5's maria medina is live in san jose with the message that one bay area county has to its voters. reporter: good morning, we're standing here at the office of the registrar in santa clara county where county leaders later today are going to hold a press conference to reassure voters they have nothing to worry about on election day. now, this all started just a few days ago when donald trump said that the election was stolen and called on supporters to watch the polls on election day looking for voter fraud, saying it was rigged by the dishonest media and crooked hillary clinton and because of what he said, some people are worried about intimidation at the polls. >> to me, that's media fraud. but you can also call it voter fraud because they really poison the mind of the voter. it's very unfair. >> you start whining before the game is even over, it's --it's --it's --whenever things are going badly for you and you -- and you lose, you start blaming somebody else, then you don't have what it takes to be in this job. >> reporter: and so far, across the country, politicians say there is no evidence that there will be a wave of trump watchers at the polls. no evidence. trump supporters can only talk to poll workers. maria medina, kpix 5. >> a lot of talk about hacking in the election. how will that play into the polls? >> reporter: yeah. here in california, kenny, our voting machines are super old. they don't connect to the internet. so no hacking there. >> thank you. former campaign rivals hillary clinton and bernie sanders are taking opposite sides in the race for san francisco's next state senator. >> are we going to make jane kim the next state senator from this district? >> yeah! >> i want to applaud a lot of what's happening here in san francisco and give a special shoutout to supervisor scott weiner. >> bernie sanders is throwing his support behind supervisor jane kim while hillary clinton is supporting scott weiner. both say it highlights the importance of this event. >> this state senate race, um, is not your typical state senate race. it um, definitely an intense one. um, really debating the future of our city. um, and of our state. and so, um, it's, um, it's -- atypical but not shocking, um that it could get, um, elevated to that level. >> i think it's great that presidential candidates are acknowledging the work, um, of san franciscan representatives. it just shows that what we do does matter and that when california leads, the rest of the country follows. >> kim beat weiner in a primary in a contest decided by less than 700 votes. chp investigators say speed contributed to a single car accident that killed three men in marin county. the mother of two of the victims described how sheriff's deputies broke the news. >> there's a accident, you know, and, um, your sons have been killed, both of your sons have been killed. >> brothers chance argall of woodacre and lance argall of san anselmo were passengers in the car which struck a power pole and two trees early yesterday morning. the crash happened off sir francis drake boulevard near lagunitas. >> saddest thing is that i could not hug them right know, you know? just tell them i love them one more time and tell them that it didn't matter if they didn't have a job tomorrow or if their clothes were dirty or whatever, those little things don't matter, you know? financial reporter jason brooks. >> good morning, kenny. good morning, michelle. that's right. yahoo and intel delivering their reports and yahoo for a change [chuckling] with some decent news for wall street. it topped expectations. it saw solid growth in its key strategies of mobile and video and social. that's essentially key to verizon in its $4.8 billion purchase of yahoo. wall street analysts couldn't grill the ceo marissa mayer on the company's data breach nor allegations over email scanning since she canceled the earnings conference call because of the pending takeover by verizon. intel provided mixed earnings results with strong positive growth data center pc chip sales but intel facing deeper costs in its restructuring plans announced earlier this year as intel plans to lay off upwards of 12,000 workers by the middle of next year. those costs are now about $2.3 billion. that's double what intel planned on earlier this year. its shares are falling on that news. on the economy front, home construction down 9% in september but not so bad. most of that was due to a plunge in apartment construction as single-family home building was on the rise and building permits were also up signalling stronger activity ahead. stock market off to a flat started: -- stock market off to a flat start this morning: yahoo shares up 2%. back to you. >> thank you, jason brooks from kcbs radio. the government is cracking down on airlines for late arriving luggage. under a proposal by the transportation department the airlines would now have to refund your checked baggage fees which now they only do if they lose your luggage, not a substantial delay. 6:46. let's check weather, but first a check on traffic because it's been busy this morning. let's check in with roqui! >> kenny and michelle, we have been busy over here. we have a traffic alert in pleasanton still going on since 5:14 a.m. so let's check the map here. westbound 580 before hopyard a crash with two big rigs is blocking two right lanes and also the hopyard road on-ramp to the freeway is closed. crews are trying to clear it out the way but traffic alert means 30 minutes or more but this is taking well over an hour already. let's move to trouble on highway 4 here. a motorcycle crash a hit-and- run actually to be specific, westbound 4 before loveridge road that motorcycle has been moved off to the center divide but still causing slow traffic here at just 11 miles per hour. and roadwork to keep in mind here. westbound 80 before suisun valley road and highway 12. it's some late roadwork for the morning but it's causing some slow traffic on westbound 80 into the bay area from cordelia. now, moving over to the bay bridge toll plaza the maze to downtown will take you a long 25 minutes to get into downtown right now. that traffic is backed up well into the maze. so traffic is looking bad right now in the bay area. but how about the weather, roberta? >> look at this! we are starting to see a little glimpse of what you can expect but it's "hump day." good morning, everybody. 6:48. it's our live weather camera. we are looking in the direction of the oakland estuary from san francisco past the embarcadero, flat bay waters. look at the flag on the fly. it's more of a northerly flow. that's a strong indication we're seeing the offshore flow kick in. we have dipped to 46 in santa rosa.
