[ laughter ] >> reporter: a vallejo homeowner posted this video on youtube from april 16 in the middle of the night. it even shows the crook walk away with an armful of mail. we showed it to postal inspectors looking to solve the case. >> these are serious crimes being committed and this is good information for you. it's evidence that we can use to identify and arrest these individuals. >> reporter: so now investigators are trying to get in touch of the owner of the video and asking for the public's help for identifying the person in it. so far there are have been 23 break-ins since february and there are more like this investigators say they didn't know about that need to be reported. >> it is critical. it helps us identify the individuals, their vehicle and again, this is a federal offense. >> if your mailbox has been hit contact the postal service. you don't call the police. you call the postal service to report the crime. they have their own investigators to tackle the crime. emily turner, kpix 5. >> the punishment for mail theft is five years in prison and $250,000 fine. new at 6:00 some of the sillicon valley's brightest are urging the federal government not to put the brakes on self- driving car. this all comes as rules and regulations for them are being hashed out. kpix 5's len ramirez tells us safety is top of mind. >> reporter: with sillicon valley rapidly becoming the detroit of the 21st century, the national highway traffic safety administration came here to stanford to begin establishing the rules of the road fo driverless cars. there was laughter when john simpson handed a steering wheel to google's self driving car director. [ chuckling ] this might be the 38-year-old's final shot at winning another nba title and it's probably a desperate attempt to save the dysfunctional rockets season. either way, the warriors gave a collective eye roll when asked to respond. [ pause ] >> good for him. [ laughter ] >> i don't care. i mean, see what happens. ha. now? i'm not gonna make any statements. you know, i guess he is trying to rally the troops or whatever he is trying to do. so i don't really give a [ censored ] >> reporter: so i guess he will take any advantage he can get without steph curry, that is an advantage for the houston rockets. and ken, about an hour ago on the 5:00 news i told [ chuckling ] >> come november, probably won't hurt him between now and june but afterwards when he tries to pivot, clips like that are going to be interesting. >> still waiting for bernie sanders to announce a vp. we'll see. >> maybe you.
