production could hurt the tourist industry. >> such an idea might alter the image and discourage people from coming into town. >> reporter: the city says tourism alone is not enough to sustain half moon bay long term, and that pot production could help out of work farmers and laborers. as for image, the couple from santa rosa said pot isn't what it used to be. >> most people are okay with it now, especially people who live around here. it is not, you know, people aren't shocked anymore when you hear somebody is smoking a joint. >> reporter: state wide, officials are still trying to comep with a licensing-- come up with a licensing plan for commercial pot growing. in san mateo county, half moon bay is the only city coming out in support of pot producing plan. >> is the city council talking of allowing pot product sales in the stores on main street? >> reporter: they are talking about it but acknowledge it will take a lot more work to get an ordinance that would allow that, even though a large majority of people in half moon bay support pot for adults. they support prop 64, they realize that is a lot more controversial because of the possibility of kids coming in to contact with it if it is on main street and stuff like that. taking this one thing at a time. this would be first. then it would be the commercial pot sales. >> all right, len, thank you. millions of americans could lose their health care coverage under the new gop plan. that is according to the non-partisan congressional budget office. they project 14 million people will lose their benefits next year alone. that would bring the number of uninsured to 24 million by 2026. but republicans supporters say the numbers are misleading. >> we disagree strenuously with the report that was put oud. we believe our-- out. we believe our plan will be lower cost and give more choices. >> democraterize urging republicans to take the report seriously and pull that bill back. >> numbers aren't important. they see the numbers. they should know how that transfers and to peoples' lives they are finding that from constitch wns, how can-- constituents, how can they look them in the eye? >> the report said the health care plan would save money reducing federal deficit by $307 billion the next 10 years. >> we were at a town hall meeting where people were focused on change said to the affordable care act. melissa has that part of the story. >> reporter: we are live at the marin veteran memorial auditorium, the largest auditorium in marin and could hold the thousands who showed up for a meeting about health care with congressman huffman. it seemed like everyone here was opposed to or nervous about the new gop health plan. >> aca-- >> how many of you are at your first town hall ever? [ cheering and applause ] >> reporter: the vast majority of people who filled the auditorium at today's health care town hall had never been to one before. >> this is pretty exciting stuff, and this is what i see everywhere i go in my district. >> reporter: people wanted answers and information and in the middle of the event they got new information, the congressional budget office score was released. >> starting in 2018, 14 million people would become uninsured. by 2020, 21 million people would be uninsured, and by 2026, 24 million people would be uninsured. >> reporter: according to grant col fax of marin county health and human services, at least 50,000 people in marin would be in serious danger of losing coverage, state wide the number is nearly 5 million. >> this bill has only been out for a few days, it was held very secretively and it is not aging well. the more sun light, the more analysis that happens, i think the deep flaws in this bill are going to become known and the political temperature will rise for the republicans. >> reporter: this is a town hall meeting, so people can ask questions of the congressman and people on the panel. and one question that came up over and over again was how do people here get involved? what can people in a progressive, solidly blue district like marin do to help fight some of trump's agenda? of course, a koup of the suggestions that were given were to talk to friend whose live in republican districts and to volunteer peoples' time in republican districts in favor of the democratic challenger. live in marin. >> president trump will donate his entire salary, $400,000 to charity, and he wants the media's help in deciding where the money should go. the white house went on to say this is an attempt to avoid scrutiny over the matter. the man accused of scaling the white house fence last week has been released from jail and could be back in the bay area soon. 26-year-old jonathan tran was in court this afternoon where he was ordered to stay within a hundred miles of his home town, except when traveling to court. court documents say he jumped the fence of the white house on friday, made it to 00 yards on to-- 200 yards on to the property before arrested. he was allegedly carrying two containers of mace and a letter to the president. tran is due back in court next month. if convicted he could spend 10 years in prison. the police chief is promising a thorough investigation of an arrest captured on video. cell phone video shows an officer hitting a suspect with his fist and flash light. at one point the officer pulled his gun on a crowd. this happened on friday after a gas station employee called 911 about a man acting erratically. there was a foot chase before the confrontation. the police chief now says "we are aware of the attention this particular incident has gained and therefore i have ordered a full and complete investigation to be conducted." he says that will involve both internal affairs and use of force experts. the 23-year-old man was arrested for being under the influence, resisting arrest, and probation violation. new details in the murder of a beloved san jose neighbor who was known as miss flow. a second suspect has been arrested in the case. 19-year-old jennifer humenezhas been charged as accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice. she is accused of helping cover up the murder of 88-year-old flow douglas. she was beaten in a home invasion robbery in september and died from her injuries a month later. the primary murder suspect, zachary omar qeun was arrests days after the crime. we know who was that center of the armed stand-off in the mission, 57-year-old samantha hellstrom barricaded herself in a room for hours last friday. police say hell strm pointed a gun at a pest control worker at the crown hotel on valencia street and quickly became a squat situation and nearby businesses had to be evacuated. after more than seven hours, she finally surrendered. hellstrom is facing charges of branishing a firearm and making criminal threats. former president barack obama making his first visit to the bay area as a private citizen. kpix 5 reporter kit is live on his loprofile visit-- low profile visit. >> reporter: was he here trying to raise money for a tech venture?
