"presidents have a right to nominate, just as the senate has its constitutional right to provide or withhold consent. in this case, the senate will withhold it. " "i think it will be very difficult for mr. mcconnell to explain how if the public concludes that this person is very well qualified that the senate should stand in the way simply for political reasons." a potential nominee is rumored to be governor brian sandoval. senate minority leader.. harry reid says he's met with sandoval, and good supreme court justice. "you know i don't- i don't pick the justices. but i know if he were picked, i would support the man. he's a good person, he has a great record, and he's been a tremendously good governor in spite of having to deal with some very big problems there." reid says... he believes president obama will make an announcement.. possibly in the next two weeks. reid also said... he's endorsing hillary clinton for president. "she's a person who is a very quick learner, all you need to do is look at what happened after 9/11. she did a good job. she fought for new york like i've never seen anyone fight for anything." reid's announcement comes after clinton's victory.. in saturday's nevada caucuses. this could give clinton a boost.. heading into next week's "super tuesday"... when democrats will vote in 11 states. ### as we close the book on nevada's caucuses... we're taking a closer look at the new lessons learned. and, what the future of nevada's caucuses, kolo 8 news now's ed pearce reports. ask officials from either party and you'll hear something along the lines of "well, we pulled it off." that's a fair statement from their point of view because for all the stories of long lines, running out of ballots at a few locations, the usual confusion, they did pull it off. and republicans could point to a record turnout. more people, in fact, voted for donald trump last night than attended four years ago. democrats registered thousands and both parties updated their mailing lists and identified their most dedicated members. but was it enough? from the moment harry reid convinced the national democratic party to bestow an early spot on the calendar to a nevada caucus and republicans followed suit, everyone understood the challenge. unlike iowa, we'd never done a caucus on this scale, one that mattered nationally before. if you talked with iowans back then, as i did, they would have told you we probably weren't up to the task. after three tries it's fair to ask if they weren't right. turnout is still low. confusion and frustration continue. those problems could be addressed with a primary, but though we've flirted with the idea, our lawmakers have been reluctant. if we want the national attention to continue and it's take another look at that alternative. because with reid and his influence exiting the scene. a caucus culture in nevada still a work in progress, it's likely the national parties could be taking a long hard look at our early spot on the calendar. and it's not hard to conclude it's at risk. ed pearce kolo 8 news now. the reno city council is delaying its decision to lease an area... next to the west street plaza. the siegel group presented its plan.. for the redevelopment of the truckee lane building... which is next to west street plaza, and fulton park. this is a rendering of the proposed plan. during yesterday's council meeting... two downtown advocacy groups... voiced concerns, about leasing siegel group. they say it has a bad track record in sparks and las vegas... because of crime associated with some of its properties. the siegel group says its working with law enforcement agencies.. to improve its properties. ### reno just made another national list. acording to the website thrillist... reno is one of the hottest up- and-coming vacation destinations. kolo 8 news nows chris buckley has more on this report according to thrillist, reno is one of eight u-s cities listed as an up and coming travel destination... and recent visitors numbers are up. "and we clearly know these guys are involved in the head pain and in maintaining it, because patients do get better when do these nerve blocks," ottestad said. first, ottestad uses an ultra- sound to probe the nerves and map the pain response. with the targets mapped, he applies the iovera needle to endings at each point. patients often feel a slight burning sensation when the cold cannula touches the nerve. "when you feel that, that's actually a great sign. and after about 20 seconds as the nerve gets frozen, the pain usually starts getting better," ottestad explains. doctors several methods, including botox injections, can also be used to block nerve pain. but the results are all temporary, only lasting as long as it takes for the nerves to regenerate. he believes the cold, or cryotherapy, may offer longer relief. "at this point, i've been seeing probably six weeks at the lower end, but some of my patients are at four months without recurrence of pain," he says. mcqueen says several months' worth of relief from her debilitating migraines would be life changing for her entire family.
