>> reporter: just around the corner from me, eric, on 23rd here at harrison, every five minutes or so you hear this crackling sound as glass comes off the side of this office building. we're barricade out here. they've got us blocked off. people are wanting to get back to their cars so they can drive home or get away. they can't. we've seen a few other folks appear to be evacuated. from the ninth story up to the 15th story in this office tower at 180 grand avenue, glass panels spontaneously popped all afternoon, raining glass onto the sidewalk and cars below on 23rd street. exposing insulation and wiring. the building is diagonally across from the apartment construction site that roared into an inferno early friday. as many evacuated residents were allowed back into their nearby units last night. today, even more people appear to be forced out because of the shattering glass. >> i don't know who's going to pay for everything. sad thing is -- >> reporter: this man showed us around his destroyed apartment. he's heartbroken to see the damage. a kitchen filled with ashes, clothes out the window on scaffolding so close he can touch it. >> this is scary. i don't know how the city permitted like the scaffolding next to your window. >> reporter: he says he's been told by his landlord it will take at least three months to make his united habitable again. abc7 news. new at 6:00, almost 300,000 gallons of water going to waste after someone vandalized a water tank. the north marin water authority says a trespasser cut through a chain link fence and may have tampered with the water supply. the same thing may have happened last month. water officials have to drain the tank, disinfect it and refill it with water. police in san jose are looking for a woman accused of stabbing a man this morning on south 2 nth street away from the 280 freeway. officers found the victim with one stab wound. he was taken to the hospital where he died. today the city of san francisco nored the lives of three u.p.s. drivers gunned down at work. a memorial ended a short time ago. we're live from city hall with the details. >> reporter: so many people showing up to pay their respects. it was a fitting tribute to three u.p.s. drivers respected by their colleagues and, of course, loved by their families. ♪ >> reporter: the glide memorial church ensemble performed a song to lhonor the lives of three u.p.s. workers, wayne chan, mike lefiti, benson louie. the three were gunned down on june 14th by fellow u.p.s. driver jimmy lam who filed a grievance for working excessive overtime. mayor ed lee offered the victims' families these words. >> we will do everything to help you recover from this tragedy, but we begin with appropriately honoring their memories here today. >> reporter: colleagues say life after the shooting has been tough. >> i walked past where it happens almost every day and where it happened. so, it's difficult coping. >> reporter: congresswoman nancy pelosi says new video shows a small grass fire that caused a traffic backup in the north bay next to highway 101 near golf course drive this afternoon. the chp had the freeway shut down to one lane while firefighters worked to get it under control. happening now, 14 large wildfires are burning across the state in bay area firefighters are on the way to help with the fire fight. crews from southern marin and mill valley left early heading north as part of a strike teechl fighting a fire. crews from san francisco are headed south to san lose ib ip sew. about 5,000 firefighters are battling flames. the largest fire is the alamo fire that's burned more than 23,000 acres and only 10% contained. a nearby santa barbara county, the whittier fire has grown to 7800 acres that started just yesterday afternoon. this is time-lapsed video. that fire is only 5% contained. a driver crash and burned to death near kenwood. the chp responded to 911 calls after 4:00 this morning on a brush fire rolled several times into a field where the vehicle caught fire and became fully engulfed. >> the identity of the driver has not been released. police in berkeley are warning cal students after two crimes on campus this weekend just before 9:00 friday night police say a man grab aid woman in the parking lot. the woman screamed and man ran away. an hour later a man who had gotten off a b.a.r.t. downtown was followed and attacked and robbed by a group of teens. he got away. the search continues for a man missing in san mateo family. richard mott's family led a search party asking neighbors if they've seen the 23 -year-old man. his father says the hardest part of the organizing the search was not knowing what to do. >> imagine your kid's missing and you don't even know what to do. i don't
