Just to the north, showers trying to make their way to the northern coast but the wider picture will show you the storm system that will bring us wet weather tomorrow still off coast. You see the nice circulation to the north. Thats going to dip down to the south in the next 12 hours and thats going to bring us showers. We bring back the storm impact scale. Love to have this in the middle of june. We rank storms all season long from one to five. One is light, five is severe and one coming tomorrow is light. Light showers moving in and a slight chance of thunder but most locations will end up with less than a quarter inch of rain. Hour by hour, overnight tonight the clouds will clicken from west to east and see wet weather begin to move into the north baby 6 00 in the morning but notice the bulk of the active city still offshore. Well time it out and show you when to expect rain where you live in the full accuweather forecast. A wildfire is chasing people from their homes tonight in Santa Barbara county. The fire burned 200 acres in the National Forest north of Santa Barbara. Flames are burning down the canyon towards the ocean. Two beaches are under an evacuation warning. 15 aircraft are battling the flames that broke out after 3 00 this afternoon. A lawn mower is blamed for sparking this fire today. Cal fire provided these pictures. A firefighter suffered an injury but crews reporting progress. Evacuation orders in the area have been lifted. The flames destroyed three buildings and two trailers. The sex scandal that cost a job is continuing to spread. The District Attorneys Office confirms tonight that an inspector in the d. A. s office has been put on administrative leave. The d. A. Would only say that the department will not turn a blind eye to sexual ex plploitation o minor. There is a chief of Oakland Police tonight and the third man to hold the job. The interim chief was removed from the job. The mayor appointed him chief after the sudden resignation of sean went. The news was broke and explains what is going on in the Third Largest city. I own the mistake i made and the important thing is im fixing it. Less than a week after she appointed a new interim police chief, the mayor announce that man is out. Information that i received raised concerns for me about whether he can effectively lead this department at this particular moment in time and during this critical transition. My members are seeking some sort of stability and this is the furthest you could come from stability. Just last week former chief sean went resigned amid a growing sex scandal involving 14 oakland officers and inappropriate relationships with the teenager that called. The mayor wouldnt say what information led her to dismiss it, the bart chief confirmed faro told him about a consensus. Everything thats been going on since the story broke has been embarrassing. The question is how much more embarrassing can it get . Shaft named the assistant chief as acting but plans to look for a permanent replacement. Well keep moving forward. Change is what we do every day. This raises real questions about the hiring practices. Civil rights attorneys announced they want increased federal oversight of opds recruitment and hiring practices given the officers involved in the current sex scandal were all hired since 2013. So far they have been confined to departments in the east bay but today learned San Francisco police are conducting a review to see if any of their officers were involved. Today the San Jose Police department is mourning the lose of an officer in the line of duty. 34yearold michael was on his motorcycle yesterday afternoon when a mini van turned in front of him. He crashed into it and died at the hospital. The officer was a married flat o father of two. Vic lee has more. Officer 3900, the second motorcycle officer in Department History to die on duty. A family man. Loving father. Who cared for his wife and two boys. Friends and colleagues came to the Police Administration building to mourn their falling comrade, so did the families of officers. Its a possibility and you think about how you would deal with that. His motorcycle collided with a mini van. He died later at Regional Medical center. Omar mateen is a disgruntled Security Guard caught on tape in a documentary called the big fix in the 2010 oil spill. Nobody gives a [ bleep ] here. Everybody wants to get paid. All about the money, right . All about the money. In 2013 mateen was found more than disgruntled as he was removed as a private Security Guard at this courthouse. There was a comment made about his allegiance to the fort hood shooter and those comments brought immediate alarm to my staff and their supervisors at the courthouse. Reporter the sheriff called the fbii one of the two times he was invelst gated and concluded he was not a threat. He was struggling with Sexual Identity and becoming unhinged. And he was ill and needed help and he could not be his true self reporter as the fbi seeks more information on mateens path to the terrorfilled night, officials discovered he was a s active online using at least four separate facebook accounts. On the night of the shooting he wrote now taste the Islamic State vengeance adding in the next few days you will see attacks from the Islamic State in the usa and just before he died in the shootout with police, mateen took the time to call a local tv station. He cut me off and he said im the shooter. Its me, im the shooter. And i didnt know what to say. Then he started saying he did it for the Islamic State. He did it for isis. Reporter now another possible missignal. The owner of a gun shop in jenson beach, florida says mateen came in trying to buy body armor and bulk ammunition but he was suspicious. That was three weeks before the shooting. There has been no immediate comment from police in florida. The shooting in orlando has San FranciscoPolice Reviewing security measures for the pride parade. The judge who has come under fire in a stanford Sexual Assault case is left on vacation. A spokesman for the court told the Bay Area News Group the judge started his vacation three days ahead of schedule. He sentenced former stanford swimmer brock turner, that young man there to six months in jail for Sexual Assaulting a young woman. The sentencing sparked global outrage and a recall petition. The additional three days of vacation caused a lastminute reassignment of a preliminary hearing. A spokesman for the court declined to say why the judge decided to take the rest of the week off. Meteorologist Oakland Police are looking for the people that opened fire near a vigil killing a 17yearold girl in downtown oakland just two blocks from city hall. Earlier she and dozens of people had been at a Memorial Service at a church on 66th avenue for two young men who drowned last month. The gathering moved downtown for a vigil and while there a car drove up and started shooting. Three others were injured. He was a serial killer and sex offender whose crimes began 40 years ago in sacramento. He was never caught and there is a new effort to find him. Jonathan bloom has more. He came in with a ski mask on and jumped on the bed and had a knife. Reporter Police Called him the east area rapist. He was also a burglar. After it was all over and done with, he went through the stuff in the room, took money out of my purse. Reporter in the months that followed, a slew of Sexual Assaults in thes area of Sacramento County and contra costa. Sock stuffed in my mouth, blind folded, gagged, hands tied, legs tied and pulled me up like this and put me back in bed and said if you move, ill kill you. Reporter that was in the late 1970s but dna evidence confirmed a link between bay area crimes and murders in southern california. The east area rapist was the golden state killer. This serial offender was probably the most prolific in southern california, possibly within the united states. Reporter the fbi created a website and offering a 50,000 reward. The killer could be in his 60s or 70s and may be keeping mementos stolen during crimes. He would remove jewelry items, identification, he tended to remove coins, kind of older coins, things of that nature. Its quite possible he still has a number of these items. Reporter his dna profile is in a National Database so when investigators do find him, they will know for sure. The answer is out there. We need a name. When we match the name to the profile, that journey for justice will come to an end. Reporter and here in the bay area the killer is linked to a number of Sexual Assaults in contra costa county.
