And what a mystery we have on our hands in malaysia. That flight that seemed to disappear into thin air. Its todays top story. Of course, new developments in the search for Malaysia Airlines flight 370. More than two days after it vanished with more than 200 people onboard. Weve got two reports this morning. Beginning with nbcs keir simmons. Hes in kuala lumpur where the plane took off. Keir, good morning to you. Reporter good morning, savannah. Im at the airport where the plane took off. Relatives are waiting for news in the hotel behind me of loved ones who have simply vanished. Their aircraft disappeared. The latest news is that sightings, possible sightings of debris and even a life raft have turned out not to be connected. But they are closely studying an oil slick seen off the coast of vietnam to see if that can offer any help as to what happened. It is tense. Journalists every few hours are ushered into a room in a building behind me to be told by officials, again, they consider it still a mystery. Meanwhile, off the coast, the coalition of nations, vessels and aircraft from around the world, including from the seventh fleet are searching for clues, they simply cannot find. Savannah. Keir simmons on the ground in kuala lumpur for us. Thank you. And search teams scour the ocean for signs of that wreckage, troubling questions do remain. Nbcs tom costello has been following the story around the clock since it broke, tom, good morning to you. Good morning, matt. Investigators in both the u. S. And asia are quite simply baffled. Still no emergency transmitter signal, no sign of wreckage in this heavily traveled body of water. It now appears that fuel slick may not have been associated with this downed plane at all. The malaysian military says its radar tapes show the plane may have made a turn as if it were starting to turn back. In the waters south of vietnam, a Massive International armada searching for the remains of flight 370. But so far, only false or unconfirmed sightings of debris. We have not found anything that appears to be objects from the aircraft let alone the aircraft. After zeroing in on a fuel sheen spotted over the weekend, the search has expanded and intensified with still no confirmed sign of the plane that disappeared from radar. This is a very large search area. We caught up with commander William Marks aboard the uss blueridge. You have to take into account wind and current and sea state. And as each hour passes, that area grows bigger. So right now, it is a very large search area, i estimate could be easily hundreds of square miles. The loved ones for the 239 people onboard continue to wait. Among the passengers, phillip wood, an ibm executive from texas. He was home just last week. Had a good meal together. And it was just a good quality time, you know. So ill always keep that in my heart and memory, you know, as kind of a goodbye dinner. Flight 370 was flying at 35,000 feet and roughly 500 Miles Per Hour when the malaysia military says it seemed to turn back before then disappearing from radar. If it suddenly broke up in flight, the debris could be spread over a massive area. But what couldve happened. The possibilities include a calamitous mechanical malfunction, a structural failure, even a bomb. Something occurred that required their immediate attention. And they were unable because of task priorities to need to talk to air traffic. The u. S. Government is helping to review the names and surveillance camera images of every passenger who boarded after investigators learned two of the passengers onboard were using stolen passports. Theyd each booked oneway flights to europe through beijing. The question, were they criminals, terrorists, or simply trying to get past immigration . The ntsb is also assisting the malaysians in this investigation. Malaysian authorities stress that so far there is no evidence of terrorism. But the fact this plane lost contact so abruptly at a cruising altitude is a cause for concern. U. S. Officials, however, say they have seen nothing so far to suggest terrorism. Matt, back to you. Tom costello on this, thanks very much. We have greg feith, a former investigator with the ntsb. Greg, good morning to you. Good morning, matt. You are trained to ask the right questions here. So lets go through those questions. What couldve happened that was so catastrophic, so fast on board that plane at 35,000 feet that the pilots had no chance to call for help . The logical answer to that, matt, is that they had some sort of control event that took place with the airplane. Something that was startling to them, unexpected and required them both pilots and their full attention. So you could have an explosive decompression of the cabin, which at 35,000 feet, youve got about 5 to 8 seconds of useful consciousness because of the lack of oxygen. So youre going to have to deal with that. Or you could have another structural failure that compromised the controllability of the airplane. Given what you know about these kinds of aircraft, is it likely to you that type of a catastrophic event was caused by a structural breakup of the plane . Or the explosion of something onboard that plane . As an investigator, you always want to look at history, if you will. And when we look at twa 800 where we had a fuel tank explosion that compromised the structure or we had an egypt air 990 which was basically a controllability thing, then we look at panam 103 which was a bomb. You really have to look at the fact this was probably an external or an intentional type act more so than a real controllability issue with the airplane only because the crew had really no time to make any kind of distress call. So youre saying at this stage of the investigation based on your experience, you would lean in the direction of a terrorist act . I would look at least the fact this flight crew the airplane right now, theyve been looking on the water for the last three days with no debris. Weve seen, again, from history with air france 447. Weve seen it with twa 800 where both airplanes have gone into the water. There has been a large wreckage of debris field, if you will, on the water surface. It was very obvious. This airplane, the 35,000 feet and 500 miles an hour, if it did steer off course, if it went west, it could be over land. If it went and reversed course like the radar data indicates, it could be down near thailand and places like that. Only because if the crew is incapacitated, the airplane is still flying. Payne stewart, with the pilots being passed out. You remember flew well over 400 miles. All right. Greg feith. Greg, thank you very much for your perspective. I appreciate it. He brings up twa flight 800. Unfortunately, i was in a helicopter as the sun came up the morning after that plane went down in the Atlantic Ocean off long island. And there are a lot of things on a plane that float. And there were there were pieces of that debris everywhere. Still flaming debris. Thats whats so mysterious about this. Without a trace. Nothing. Nothing. I know. Meantime, we have natalie here with developments on whats going on in ukraine. Thats right. And russia has increased its military presence in the crimean peninsula. This as ukraines acting Prime Minister prepares to travel here to washington, d. C. To meet with president obama. Nbcs chief Foreign Affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell has the latest. That white house visit for the leader of the new prowestern government, arseniy yatsenyuk, intended to boost his legitimacy in the eyes of the world in advance of crimeas vote to break away from ukraine scheduled for next weekend. Hes coming here largely because he cannot get talks with moscow. Moscow is refusing to deal with the new leaders. And clashes on sunday shows how tense the crisis is. A proukraine rally in kiev contrasted in crimea with violence when russian supporters attacked proukraine demonstrators in sevastopol. Vladimir putin has made it clear hes not budging. Sunday, he spoke to Germanys Angela Merkel and britians Prime Minister David Cameron telling them both the upcoming vote in crimea is perfectly legal and constitutional. The hope is that merkel can try to mediate this growing conflict. But so far, president obama has certainly not been able to. Hes spoken to putin twice for 2 1 2 hours total and gotten nowhere. Andrea mitchell in washington. Thank you, andrea. Researchers have found a blood test that could predict the chance a person will develop alzheimers disease. The new study out of Georgetown University identifying ten blood fats that signal when brain cells are starting to degenerate. They compared blood test results from 40 people diagnosed with mild Cognitive Impairment to 40 control subjects and found the test was able to correctly identify those with memory problems 90 of the time. Researchers say larger studies are needed. Former nsa whistleblower Edward Snowden will make his first live appearance today at the south by southwest interactive festival in austin, texas. He will be interviewed by Video Conference by the lead technologist for the aclu. Audience members will also have a chance to ask questions of snowden. The focus of snowdens appearance will be on ways the Technology Community can protect against mass surveillance. And some sad news this morning from the world of cars and sports. The Ford Motor Company announced that William Clay Ford sr. Has died. The 88yearold was the last surviving grandson of the Company Founder henry ford. A chair lift manager and a coworker heard what was going on and rushed up the mountain and climbed the chair lift tower. The manager was able to pull the boy to safety. Heavier snow from illinois all the way into western new york, up to 9 inches or more. And then, thursday, heres where it really gets interesting, off the coast, a possible noreaster developing, right now about 3 to 6 inches of snow. But some areas, some of the models putting it as high as 18 inches of snow when its all said and done. Were going to continue to track this. A leading Government Agency is now facing questions over why it declined to investigate consumer complaints sooner. Nbcs Peter Alexander has that story from the white house this morning. Peter, good morning. Savannah, good morning to you. Just days ago, federal safety regulators demanded that gm explain why it took ten years to issue a recall on cars with ignition problems. Now, there are new reports that are questioning whether that same federal agency was aware of the problems years ago and didnt do more to get them fixed. At least 13 people have died over the last decade in accidents involving gm cars that were only recalled last month, including teenagers Natasha Weigel and Amy Rademaker whose chevy cobalt slammed into a tree in 2006 after the car they were riding in allegedly turned off suddenly. Come to the point where anybody had to die in order for that car to get fixed. Former national highway Transportation Safety administrator Joan Claybrook now is a safety advocate says nhtsa shouldve forced gm to fix the problem back then. A New York Times analysis found more than 260 complaints to nhtsa over the last 11 years about gm cars with ignition problems. Federal regulators a decade ago could have thoroughly investigated this. They didnt do it, they asked General Motors for a little information, not much. Following gms recall, federal investigators are demanding answers from the automaker about why it took so long to order a recall. Gms new ceo has launched an independent investigation and told employees, we will hold ourselves accountable and improve our processes so our customers do not experience this again. Nhtsa told nbc news it took steps to review the accidents at the time, including three special crash investigations, which did not contain sufficient evidence of a possible safety defect trend that would warrant the Agency Opening a formal investigation. The recall effects six different models, including the chevy cobalt, saturn ion and pontiac solstice. Most of which were manufactured between 2003 and 2007. Heres the important part, if you own one of those cars, nhtsa is urging you to follow gms recommendation to use only the ignition key, nothing else on the key ring if or when youre driving it and to bring it in, of course, as soon as you can for repairs. And the advocacy children is painting a very dire picture of that wars impact. A Public Health system thats collapsed leaving more than 4 million children in need of assistance. Good morning, matt. Im in the hospital which is about three miles from the syrian border. In fact, you can see the mountains that separate the two countries from this hospital room. This is a small hospital. It only has 34 beds. But it has 27 incubators, which tells you about the humanitarian crisis here. Behind me finally getting some sleep is this woman who gave birth to a little girl yesterday. And this room is very stereotypical for this hospital. Clean, but small. Moms from aleppo and grandmothers from aleppo are here with their granddaughters who are giving birth. And it goes to the heart of the crisis. And that is that syria has lost 60 of its hospitals and with refugees still drifting over the mountains. In fact, there are women i met in this hospital this morning who just arrived. Babies being born just in this hospital are to the tune of 10 to 15 a day, which raises the question, what happens when those babies go home because theyre going to some kind of refugee camp with International Support or not. And the second you and i say goodbye today, she is due for a csection. In fact, there are nurses hovering outside the door here waiting for her to leave. The chilling scene was captured in this series of dramatic photos. And both men involved are now telling their sides of the story. Heres nbcs gabe gutierrez. This morning, against all odds, the two men at the center of these incredible images are alive and now blaming each other. A sky diver about to land when just feet from the ground, a small plane tears right through his parachute. At the South Lakeland Airport near tampa. I definitely thought i wasnt going to make it. The veteran sky diver 49yearold john frost who goes by steve is limping and nursing several bruises. He thinks the pilot is at fault. Our pilot had seen him and contacted him directly to ensure that he knew that we were going to be parachuting in the area. The experienced pilot 87yearold sharon trembly is out of the hospital and telling his side. His wife tells nbc news, he was very alert as he is when he flies. He was paying attention to what was going on and knew jumpers were there. But the jumpers were in the wrong place. Frost strongly disagrees. And when you fly into an area with parachutists all over, you have that high potential of killing somebody. Federal authorities are now investigating the collision, captured by the photographer, tim telford. I stared through the lens, is this really happening . I couldnt believe it. Meantime, it has been nearly 15 months since the Tragic School shooting in newtown, connecticut, and the gunmans father is now speaking publicly for the very first time in the latest issue of the new yorker. In a moment well talk exclusively to the author of that article, but, first, heres nbcs stephanie gosk. Reporter there may never be a complete explanation of what drove adam lanza to kill himself, his mother, and 26 students and teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School, but an article in this weeks new yorker magazine probably gets as close as anything ever will. It is the first time lanzas father, a Vice President at general electric, has ever spoken to the media about the shooting. Its not like i ever go an hour when it doesnt cross my mind. Peter lanza tells writer andrew solomon. He describes his sons unraveling and the pain he now struggles with. How much do i beat up on myself about the fact that hes my son . A lot. As a young boy, lanza says adam was definitely different, but still a normal, weird little kid. As he grew older, the problems grew more visible. Every day life became almost impossible. The social awkwardness, the uncomfortable anxiety, the awkward walk, reduced eye contact, you could see the changes occurring. After their divorce nancy lanz yashgs adams mother, took on the bulk of his care eventually isolating him from the world and his father. Peter lanza says he last saw his son two years before the shooting. Emails from his exwife told him not to visit. Now more than a year since the killing at sandy hook, lanza wishes his son adam had never been born. Thats not a natural thing when you are thinking about your kid, but god, theres no question. For today stephanie gosk, nbc news, new york. Andrew solomon is with us now exclusively. He sat down with peter lanza six times for that new yorker article. Thank you for being here. Glad to be here. When i read that paragraph when he says he wishes adam lanza had never been born, it took my breath away. What is his state of mind . How would you describe this man . He must be haunted. He is haunted. He wishes he could go back in time and fix what went wrong. Is he a kind, decent man, and is he horrified his own child could have caused this destruction. Why speak out now . This is somebody who has maintained his privacy and his silence until now . He said he had been contacted by so many victims families and he said he finally thought his story was an important part of the puzzle and that he had a moral obligation to tell it, that it may help the families or it may help prevent another newtown. When Something Like this happens, inevitably the scrutiny goes to the parents . What did they do . What did they not do . Did they miss signs . Did the article shed any light on what was wrong with adam and what may have caused him to take this unspeakable act . Adam had what was then called asbergers syndrome and would be autism speck trim disorder. The autism made him very weird and because they had a diagnosis, it didnt appear to them that anything else was wrong. I want to be clear here. No one is suggesting that autism caused him to be violent, but peter seems to believe that perhaps it masked a different diagnosis that should have been noted, perhaps schizophrenia he says. Whenever adam was being strange or peculiar, he thought it was just his diagnosis, and he didnt look past it. Adam saw a huge number of psychologists and psychiatrists, and none of them detected hints of violence. What about the fact that peter lanza was essentially estranged for the last two years of his life. Bh he looks at that now, does he feel he should have tried harder to reach his son . He said he wishes he had tried harder because he said anything i did differently might have changed the outcome, and the outcome couldnt have been worse or more evil, but at the time i didnt see it. We learned also that nancy lanza, adams mother, in fact, wasnt exactly up front with peter about the decline of adam, about how bad things had gotten. What can you tell us about that . Nancy was always trying to give adam a good day, and she didnt think enough about giving him a good life. She dealt with the crisis as they came along, and she wasnt open. She was trying to make everyone think everything was okay as her son got worse and worse. Does peter blame his exwife . He very specifically doesnt blame her. He said i was trying hard. She was trying far harder. She did her best. A lot of people have looked at her and wondered why did she allow all those weapons to be in the house when she knew her son had mental illness. Did peter know about that, and what does he make of that decision . You know, nancy had grown up a live free or die New Hampshire gal, and she had an idea that guns were part of everyday life. I dont think guns should be a part of everyday life, but they had no sense that adam was dangerous. They thought he was peculiar, but not that he would hurt anyone. He says he was the safest, most cautious, rule follower that i had ever met. He met with a couple the newtown families. What did he say about those . He said one of the families had said to him that they were trod forgive adam. He said a family that lost their son, their only son, he said if my trading places with them could ease their pain, i would do it in a heart beat. Thats fascinating because this is a family that said they could forgive adam, but thats something that peter said he is not ready to do. He is not. He said as the trailer indicated that he really felt that he wished adam had never been born, and he said he struggled with coming to that, but what happened was so horrific he could only wish it away. Inside the courtroom, oscar piece tore use is more emotional than weve ever seen him. A short time ago, he actually became violently sick into a bucket. Hes been listening this morning to disturbing detail from the pathologist who performed the autopsy on reevas body. The testimony so graphic the court has cut off the live video and audio feed. Reporter Oscar Pistorius spent the weekend at his uncles lavish compound guarded by security. How do you think its going . Reporter he doesnt say anything to reporters, but in court this morning, he was crying openly and shaking, listening to graphic testimony about reeva steenkamps final moments. Also today, the Security Guard at oscars home took the stand. He spoke with oscar just after the gun shots. As reeva was dying on his bathroom floor. That guard spoke through a translator. Translator my lady, i called mr. Pistorius. And mr. Pistorius told me that everything is fine. But i realized that mr. Pistorius is crying. Reporter today, oscars lawyer tried to explain that away. Mr. Pistorius will tell the court he could not speak. He was, indeed, only crying. Reporter theres sad drama unfolding outside the courtroom, too. Reevas parents suing oscar for wrongful death. Before the shooting, he made millions in endorsement deals from nike to oakley. Behind the scenes, reeva steenkamps family and Oscar Pistorius family are in negotiation for settlement. How much do they want . Theyre looking at between 200,000 and 600,000 u. S. Dollars. Reporter reevas parents said they didnt want to sue oscar but had no choice. Their financial situation is dire. They live here along this dirt road 600 miles from petoria. Thats their modest home right over there. Reeva supported them. She paid their electric bill, she paid for their food. Because i thought it might lighten my work load if i didnt have to direct the lead actor. And it let me concentrate on other things. What was it like to direct . Is this something you wanted to do for a long time . Yeah, a very, very long time. It was a dream, you know. Its very complicated, involved process to create a fake world for an audience. And i just wanted the privilege of overseeing that process. Its a lot of people that are very skilled that you need to pull that off. And it was a pleasure to work with all of them. As i mentioned, there are a lot of little kids in this movie. You, of course, grew up in this business. You once were a child actor. Does that help you kind of relate to them. Yeah. One of my first big jobs was on little house on the prairie. Look at that. Its like theyre reading my mind. Look at that. Its a beautiful piece. Isnt it . And that hair. Look how full that piece is. So Michael Landon was the writer, director, actor on that and took care of us little kids. And i found myself recalling a lot of those memories about how i was set to be. If i was bored, he would make it fun. So the kid who plays in this movie, he and i got along fast and well. This, of course, as you mentioned was the backdrop of the spelling bee. But the japanese composer who was so admired because he was deaf now says he can hear. And also that he did not write the music. It is a fall from musical grace for the man known as japanese beethoven. Admitting in front of hundreds of reporters that it was all a lie. That he wasnt completely deaf as he claimed. And that the symphonies and the other music he said was his own for the last 18 years had, in fact, been secretly written by a ghost writer. It is, indeed, the case that i have deceived people and im extremely sorry, he said friday. His first appearance after the allegations surfaced a month ago. Determined the 50yearold was not legally deaf. And after the real composer, the realtime professor in tokyo went public himself. His claim to fame was this piece. The symphony about the 1945 atomic bombing of his home city. Just a few weeks ago in sochi, japanese figure skater used what was believed to be the composers music for his short program. Days after the scandal first broke. The theme music for the video game resident evil was also credited to the musicians. Compared to beethoven because the german composers deafness, says he has hearing problems. But theres little sympathy in japan. The youngs peoples chorus of new york is scheduled to play that hiroshima piece later this month. The group says it has not decided yet whether to pull it from the program. What about water temperature . Warm water. Except in the summer when your dog has skin issues. Maybe the cooler water is more soothing. Dip her in . Put her in. Does she like this, first of all . No, but i need to groom her at home because shes sensitive to other people touching her. I prefer a spray nozzle attachment. But shes a small dog, little chihuahua. Lets get her wet, completely wet. What kind of shampoo . Do not use human shampoo, dog only shampoo. A lot of dogs dont like getting their heads wet. You have to be a little careful there, dont you . The head should be the last part of the body. Really . And the first part you rinse. Right now, lets not wash her head. People at home, wash your dogs head last. Be careful of getting soap in the eyes. I always like cotton balls to put in the ears so not to get soap in there. You can use the solution for the ear cleaning. I like to brush a dog prior to a bath to loosen the follicles. And theres also the bath, but i think you need a softer one. And use circular motions. Were giving a general bath here, but there are things you need to know. Some dogs get like chewing gum in their fur. My dog stepped in chewing gum last week and i told them to try Peanut Butter. You put it on the gum, loosens it, pulls it out, if that doesnt work, ice cubes and pick it out. And shes doing very well, by the way. I say rinse your dog completely of all shampoo. And once all the soaps off, rinse again. Thats and then you can use conditioner. 24 hours after the bath, flea and tick season, use topical treatment, follow the directions on the back of the you grabbed this, lets not grab that water. Well, you can use that hair dryer to dry your dog. Were going to let her dry naturally. Great. Fresh and clean. And wrap her like a burrito. Get the excess water. Shes about the size of a burrito, too. Smells good. Next thing is brushing a dogs teeth. Is this pepper . This is pepper. This is baby howard from long island bulldog rescue. Its imperative that you keep your dogs teeth clean. And youre actually prolonging their lives. Because bacteria in the teeth can enter the bloodstream and create very horrible things for your dog. Human toothbrushes . No. These are for dog specific at your pet store. And dogspecific toothpaste. Do not use human toothpaste. It could be horrible or fatal. So lets get a little bit on your finger, first. Is pepper familiar . Yeah, shes had it done. Does she like the Peanut Butter variety. I say let them taste it. Put a little bit on the end of the toothbrush. How is pepper doing over there . She likes it. Yeah. Lift the jowls up if you have a bulldog. Come here, buddy. Theres a great crowd outside. Packed. Spring break. Thats right. Big crowd this time of year. Next couple of days. Falls off a cliff, high in the 20s. Im willie geist along with al roker, Natalie Morales and tamron hall. Were going to get to our big power ball winning. Somebodys retiring. Wed probably lead with it if someone was retiring. And well explain who won, as well. But our big story this morning, this thing is mystifying, it really is. Biggest mysteries are calling it an aviation history unfolding right now. The search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 continues this morning in the water south of vietnam. So far, only been false, unconfirmed sightings of debris. The flight disappeared early saturday about two hours after departure, there were 239 people onboard. It was at a cruising altitude, 35,000 feet, going about 500 miles an hour when the malaysian military said it seemed to turn back before disappearing from the radar. This has led to a lot of speculation about what shouldve happened, what might have happened. We should say this is all speculation right now. Possibilities of mechanical malfunction, structural failure, terrorism is still an open possibility. Adding to the mystery, investigators learned two of the passengers onboard were using stolen passports. U. S. Officials say, they, though, have seen nothing so far, anyway, to suggest terrorism. There are three americans onboard. One of them identified phillip wood a 50yearold ibm employee from texas who is living. Also told two American Children onboard ages 4 and 2. Guys, this is crazy. Day three now of the search and now a trace of the plane. We had an oil slick we heard about that they were looking into. Today they confirmed that oil slick had nothing to do with nothing to do with it. Somebody a plane, a surveillance plane thought they saw a life raft. They got nothing at this point. Disappeared in thin air. And theres so many different theorys as to what couldve happened. It brings back, sadly you think about some of the tragedies that have happened in the past. I mean, lockerbie, you know, the planes just kind of, you know, just disappear and turns out later you do see a debris field. Here, youre not seeing any evidence of that yet. People have im sorry, tamron, i was going to say that recent air france flight. It took two years to recover the aircraft itself. But the thing i think i heard most this weekend from people ive been running into. Of course, you know, you want to know what caused it. But that this plane, a 777 can disappear with all the technology on the plane and in the sky with satellites and that maybe not you may not be able to pinpoint the exact spot, but a radius, theyve not even been able to do that. So, of course, the investigation as to what happened is key, but how this happened vanished is incredible. And the black box only has Battery Power for about 30 days. Is that right . If they dont find that within the period of time, the pinging may never been found. I heard one expert say if you lose your buick, theyll find it for you in about 20 minutes. But a 777 falls off the face of the earth, its incredible. Strange that not a single bit of communication from the pilot goes to tell you that there obviously was something catastrophic they didnt have time to react. Amazing. All right. Another big story were all talking about. And this is just so heartbreaking to read. For the first time were hearing from the father of newtown shooter adam lanza, spoken to the new yorker magazine. And a couple of things he revealed in this interview. Conducted six different interviews with andrew soloman. And he says in this interview he wishes his son had never been born. Its not a natural thing when youre thinking about your kids. But god, theres no question, he says. He told the writer andrew soloman, its not like i ever go an hour when it doesnt cross my mind. Of course, adam lanza killed himself, his mother and the 26 students, the 20 students, 6 teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in december of 2012. And peter lanza asked how much do i beat up on myself about the fact that he is my son . A lot. He says adam was just different as a young boy, but still a normal, weird little kid. They knew he had problems when he was growing up, they became more visible as he became older. And the last time he said he saw adam was two years before the shooting. His exwife, apparently had told him not to visit. And he started thinking had i started visiting. And speaking out because its been 15 months and many people have wondered and tried to reach out to him. And he said it was because the families of the children who were killed and the teachers wanted that answer to help connect the dots. And im happy that he at least gave them that. Thats a continuous part of their grief, as well and knowing what was this childs life like that made him do this . Can you imagine his parents having to come to terms with the idea that your child had never been born . Can you imagine having to accept that . Its a horrible, horrible thing to say, but to know in this case, its true. You look through history and there are examples like that, unfortunately. Think how much this is now every day, every hour, he thinks about this. This is horrible. Well, on an amazing note, if you saw these pictures over the weekend. Sky diver and pilot both recovering after midair collision near tampa, florida, on saturday. Investigators say the plane was doing touch and goes. Landing, taking off, landing, taking off when a wing clipped the parachute strings. The pilot, 87 years old, sky diver john frost falls to the ground. Neither one seriously injured. Federal investigators now looking to this new question surfacing as to who is at fault here. Pilots wife telling nbc news hes very alert as he is when he flies. Paying attention to what was going on. He knew there were jumpers in the area. In fact, earlier we had an interview with the jumper, with the parachuters, and he said, john frost said his pilot was in contact with this guy and said we are in the area. We are jumping. He knew about it. So its one of those things. This couldve ended so tragically. But thankfully, by some miracle, it didnt. Both walked away. And the plane is doing a nose dive straight into the ground and he gets lifted and tossed to the ground. Its incredible. And another one blaming. Even the wife of the pilot allegedly saying that, you know, was he up to snuff on that day . Remains to be seen. Look at that sequence of events. How could neither of them be seriously injured . Its a miracle. The parachute is so close to landing, all was going as planned perfectly getting ready to put his feed down on the ground when that happened. Was not either one and that series of photos was remarkab remarkable. You cant get over that. Well, in life they tell us to try a little tenderness, or was that elvis . Same thing. I live my life by what elvis used to say. But this moment out of minnesota is so hartwarming, its absolutely beautiful. Theres a High School Wrestling match over the weekend, and Malik Stewart faced off against mitchell. After the match, malik received a standing ovation. Why . Well, malik knew that mitchells dad was suffering from cancer. So he walked over to the sidelines and shook mitchells fathers hand, gave him a hug and told him to keep fighting. And maliks own father died of a heart attack when he was younger, and he said, i got a little teary eyed because i lost the match and i knew the hard times he was going through. I just did it straight from my heart. Thats malik there. Yeah, that is malik there and the father who is battling cancer. You can see. It is so sweet. And we said a moment of sportsmanship. No, this is a moment of humanity. This is a good kid to think about someone elses dad in the middle of all of that and not get caught up in the sport. Well, having known he knew what it was like absolutely. We both lost parents and you know. Thats a moment you can hug someone and say, i understand what youre going through. Im here. And sometimes thats all you have to say. And for a teenager who probably just lost the match of his life, stop and say, wait a minute. Stop and be in the moment. Be in the moment. Well done, malik. Really . Really . Okay. Lets move along here. And we are looking at another storm thats right now impacting the Pacific Northwest. This thing is going to go coasttocoast, already bringing a real mess out west. Were looking at rain and snow, brutal p winds, icy conditions. Not a lot of snow out of this thing, but a decent amount of rain where theyve already seen some heavy rain already. Now, by the time we get into tuesday. Icy conditions from wisconsin all the way back into denver. We expect not a lot of snow out of this thing, maybe 3 to 6 inches, but as we make our way east, heres where it gets very interesting. Were going to see this thing really start to ramp up. Heavy rain along the coast, central and midatlantic coast into florida. Icy conditions and snow back to the west. Its not smoked, just cured bacon. And add a little butter to this. Its four servings. Could you use regular bacon . Could use regular bacon, so can you pop that pasta for me . I can. A lot of people think pasta, heavy, but this is a lighter sauce. This is. And you could add as much cheese or whatever you want to it. I use the fresh, so itll cook in a couple of minutes. So you add the stock and the butter, its going to glaze a little. And were waiting for the pasta. Im going to add some. What i did here, it generally has raw egg in it and you mix it in at the end. But for some people who are squeamish about that, i took scrambled eggs. I didnt know that was an option. It is an option. A lot of people dont like the egg over medium or what not. The scrambled egg. Quickly, salt or olive oil when youre boiling . I dont generally put olive oil in it unless im taking it out, dry pasta you cook ahead. And you might prevent it from sticking. You do salt. We do salt definitely. A little pinch in here. And im going to take this out and were going to toss it here. And finish it off and whats great about the pasta, the starch in the pasta will help thicken the sauce, and itll also steam your glasses. That works nicely. So im going to toss this like this and mix it up really well. Al, you see that parmesan . Yeah. You want to put some of that in there for me, please . If the liquid cooks down too much, you add a little more water . Or the stock, which is great to adding it. Because you get more flavor to it. A toss there. Great color. That is. In many ways. Absolutely. You know, i think i was addicted to being a victim. And also went to worst case scenario. So it is a language that youre taught to speak when you grow up. I grew up in a loving, great family, but critical and i think that they made me who i am today and im very proud but i wanted to help people to have be e able to speak a different language. When jeff berates you or how do you react to that inside or do you think it is just part of the shtick and part of the show . You know, i changed. And thats part of the book. I used to take it more personally. And it has been a ride, but i think my life, when i embrace failure, you know, and really said im going to take responsibility, im going to own it rather than put it on him or the situation, it is very freeing. And we are a dysfunctional family. Everyone is. It is. It is a partnership. It is a marriage, anything, it is a lot of work. You have to hang on and enjoy the ride. Yeah. She said during her life as an actress how she would not prepare for your auditions and things and think, i got this, i got this. And the thing i would say to young people out there is work, dont worry. Thats a whole chapter in the book. It is about the work. Thats what you can control. So work hard. And youll get to what you want to do. And also maybe youre not in this perfect job that you want to be in, but do the best you can and you will go forward. It will lead to the next one.
