at a 7-eleven on decoto road and fremont boulevard. damian trujillo has been on the scene and just spoke with investigators. what do you know? >> reporter: still a lot of unanswered questions this morning, scott. police cleared the crime scene here about 45 minutes ago. the man suspect was shot and killed at the end of this parking lot behind this walgreens shopping center on decoto and fremont boulevard here in the city of fremont. this is the second of two crime scenes that left one man dead. the first crime scene was at this 7-eleven store just off of highway 880. a clerk would not go on cameras, but he told me a customer pulled a gun on another customer. that's when a police officer with an east bay regional parks pulled up and called for emergency backup. when fremont police arrived, they say a man hadn't ensued that included a search helicopter. >> we have issued a deal right now and there's a large field behind the walgreens area where this incident together place. >> reporter: investigators say fremont police officers finally confronted the man in this delivery port for a strip mal. louis hernandez lives next to the scene and heard the commotion. >> authorities were trying to ask the subject to come out and telling him everything would be okay. come on out. >> reporter: that's when at least one officer fired his gun. >> i heard two shots. >> reporter: you don't know what prompted your officer to fire? >> that will be part of the investigation, what their observations were that happened at that area. >> reporter: police won't see if the suspect fired at the officers first or even if he was armed at the time. and both the 7-eleven and the strip mal here on decoto and fremont boulevard have now reopened but the shops have remained closed throughout this investigation. we're live in fremont. i'm damian trujillo, nobodies bay area news. >> damian, thank you. on the peninsula campus police at stanford are still on the hunt for a man who could be neil gorsuch has been sworn in as the ninth member of the supreme court. this after, of course, a bitter fight in congress. republicans shut down the opposition from democrats by permanently changing senate rules so they could end debate and confirm him with 51 votes rather than the usual 60. of course, it's his former boss anthony kennedy who swore gorsuch in a rose garden ceremony alongside president trump. >> our country is counting on you to be wise, impartial and fair. >> gorsuch was sworn in just in time to sit in on many cases headed to the court, including a challenge to the baer about this this morning and here's what he had to say about the fan zone experience. >> well, we're going to be expanding the zone that we have for kids, and the toyota fan zone is going to be geared to kids, a great running area, chocolates, it will be fantastic. >> fans can also pay $99. that gets them two game tickets for the standing room only area which is great thing, you know, to do as a family or whatever. get you inside the park. >> totally, 99 bucks, the fan zone, does that sound like something the triplets would be interested in. >> i had to kell them last night i was coming weather throughout the game. everyone that i've seen walking by really just enjoying all of this sunshine, and the boats are starting to roll into mccovey cove hoping to catch one of those homers coming out of the park during the game, and you have the fans over here. over on this side of the bay we have a lot of tailgaters, people just really enjoying this time outside and taking it in before heading inside the stadium for the game, so you're seeing those cute little yachts there in the cove and also some kayakers. a lot more of them starting to arrive. so as we go throughout the day going to see more of this beautiful weather, so excited that things are very nice here so let's head into the studio to see what's happening as we get ready for the game to start. >> well, us a mentioned, kara, it doesn't get much better for a home opener. with we're talking perfect baseball weather and definitely on the colder side and all over the bay area we're already climbing into the upper 50s and 60s, penalty la a nice cool 6 is and tri-valley 56 and we're still seeing a few lingering high clouds, but all in all these 50s will be warming up. the temperature trend is showing us climbing into the 60s briefly with a high of 62 which 3:00 and even in the san jose area expected to climb to about 68 degrees. it's definitely going to be one of the great spring days. microclimate highs along the coastline upper 60s and inland areas lower 60s, hour-by-hour outlook because we are tracking some changes ahead. afternoon we're expecting clearing and breezy near the coast and then tuesday morning we are expected some showers to move in. first we'll see some patching morning fog and then tuesday morning commuters into 5:00, 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. hour. do have a chance of things being pretty slick so be careful if this is your morning commute. a chance of showers through tuesday on the peninsula and a few scattered showers here and there through tuesday night and into wednesday. we're tracking an additional system and that's what we're really keeping a close eye on and that will bring us the greatest chance for widespread rainfall. that will head into thursday as well. now, as of now it looks like friday will be clearing in san francisco and inland areas. both areas expecting the rain as we head into wednesday and thursday and out of all the days of the week this is the best one to have the giants home opener without a doubt. as we head into tomorrow, expecting a high of 67 degrees. all in all it's going to be pretty nice today, and then we do have changes coming along the way. i'll tend things over to you guys. >> thank you, as we are reminded of the violence in the world at a school in san bernardino where four people have been injured. here is knbc. >> cal state san bernardino. parents are being advised to bring their ids with them. we see a police officer there right now, and, again, this is about a urt kwaer miquarter mil campus. we continue to see parents, we assume parents walking into frame there, finding out the conditions of their children, even though we've gotten word here from district officials that this particular campus is safe. the situation has been neutralized and taken care of. >> right now we're gathering information and we have crews on the ground. >> we're paying attention to knbc and all of our news agencies. this is north park school in san bernardino. we know two people to be dead. we also understand it was a domestic violence situation in which the teacher knew the attacker. apparently the attacker has been neutralized. that's one of the dead people. we'll bring you the very latest throughout this newscast. coming up next, united airlines under fire this morning. have you seen this video? >> my god. look what you did to him! >> well, it's video of a man being forcibly removed off of a flight, a paying customer, mind you. how united's ceo is now responding as this video goes viral around the world. >> and we continue to follow that breaking news of a shooting in a southern california school. we'll have the very latest when we come back. first happening now in london, thousands of officers turned sea begdrgedff unid g welcome back. new video shows be a airline passenger who had a ticket and a seat being dragged off a united airlines flight because the flight was overbooked. according to united he refused to volunteer to give his seat up, and this video is getting a lot of attention right now. >> oh, my god! >> oh, my god! >> oh, my god! >> no! >> hey, hey, hey. >> my god, what are you doing? >> this is wrong. >> look at what you did to him! >> i have to go home. i have to go home. i have to go home. >> that's that same man running back on to the plane. >> remember, this is a man with a ticket and a seat. united airlines flight from chicago, the plane was overbooked so four passengers were told they had to leave to make room for united airlines employees. nobody volunteered and a computer picked passengers randomly. the man whose odds were not in his favor refused to leave. security pulled the passenger out of the seat and dragged him out and you saw him seemingly disoriented saying he needed to get home. in a statement united ceo oscar munoz apologized, and that apology is getting a lot of criticism because munoz said, quote, i apologize for having to reaccommodate those passengers. >> this incident having a lot of passengers wondering about their accommodation when it comes to united. here pr kerfuffle. coming cup, video of an explosive fire that burned two cars and a home in the east bay. why it's being called suspicious. >> and we continue to follow that breaking news of the san bernardino school shooting. again, nbc news reporting that it is a murder-suicide but also two children were somehow involved. we are working to get the very latest facts for you. we'll have them for you when we come back. (adbbreingewsut sohercalorn th we want to bring you an update now on our breaking news story, this happening in san bernardino right now at an elementary school. you can see the kids out there on the lawn, evacuated from their classrooms, but the situation does appear to be over. we understand right now four victims, a shooting that is now being reported as a domestic violence situation and an apparent murder-suicide. >> this happened at north park elementary in san bernardino as we continue to watch aerial coverage. a domestic violence situation in which the teacher was shot. nbc news is reporting two people are dead. we don't know exactly who the dead are, but we believe the shooter to be neutralized. let's listen in to our fellow reporters at knbc. >> they will be bussed to the university of san bernardino, cal state san bernardino so far right now they are busing the children to san bernardino cal state, but they want the parents to go to cajon high school. they want to make sure every child say counted for before putting them on the bus and they will take them to the school right now. a very scary situation no doubt for parents as well as the children, but you can see all the children right now have been taken to the grassy field waiting to be transported. >> megan, correct me if i'm wrong, the parents are being asked to go to cajon high school but the parents have been bussed to the san bernardino college. >> that's apparently what they are going to be doing, according to the san bernardino police department. they are taking the children to cal state university san bernardino, but they want the parents to check in over at cajon high school. very systematic way they are doing it. i know parents are very frustrated, and they want to know the status of what's going on, right now you can see the students are being dealt with by law enforcement. they will be put safely on to the buses and they will trance prd them according to the scanner traffic over to cal state san bernardino. hopefully they can quicken the process so parents can go in there and retrieve their children. >> you are list nick to live coverage from knc of the san bernardino elementary school. no community deserves for this to happen but especially san bernardino. we'll continue to watch that. >> and we want to be clear that authorities are reporting this is not -- does not appear to be terrorism-related. terrifying, nonetheless, but does appear to be a domestic violence situation where the shooter did know the victim. >> let take you back home. an east bay neighborhood was awakened in the middle of the night by an explosion and a fire inside. >> tom jensen has an exclusive where we received cell phone video of that scene. >> reporter: a next door neighbor good the first video of the fire a couple of minutes after it started, and his dad tried to alert the family still inside the home. >>the house is on fire. >> we called them out. they stayed in our house for a little bit >> reporter: couple and two small children were not injured, but they could hear parts of their cars exploded as they burned next door. a man who lives down the block said it was the initial explosion that shook him. >> it sounded like a bomb went off, and then it just engulfed the car. >> reporter: that was at 2:00 in the morning. within minutes both cars were overcome with flames and fire spread to the garage. >> normally a car would take a little bit to catch on fire. that car torched in three minutes. i mean, it was torched. >> reporter: contra costa arson investigators are looking into the fire and a spokesman for the fire district said it is considered suspicion. >> that was tom jenson reporting. more information should be available after they complete their investigation. >> a man is under arrest accused of molesting students. campus police set out an alert to students shortly after this happened saturday. there were reports of sexual battery. police say the female students were inappropriately touched by the suspects. no word on if the suspect is a student or if he has any relationship to the campus community. >> okay. we want to lighten things back up right now. no one more excited than the players for this season to get started. >> nbc bay area's peter suratos is live in san francisco at at&t park as we begin the first home game of the giants. you spoke with some of the players last night and they cannot wait to get in front of the hometown crowd. >> reporter: yeah, that's right. a very exciting tame for the players. of course, we've got the fans that are starting to walk and the gates open at about 11:00 a.m. walking through willie mays gate, an exciting time to see the excited looks on the faces of the families walking in knowing they will enjoy their hometown san francisco giants in a couple of hours. did i speak to a couple of players. lucky enough to talk to brandon crawford, joe panik and jeff samardzija to ask them how exciting it is to play in front of these fans. >> we get a sold-out crowd every day so it's almost like the same atmosphere every day. opening day definitely has a little more -- a little more to it. everyone looks forward to that. >> we come here to do our job and play hard every day and play to win. i think they know that, so i think everyone is excited to get this thing going. >> always excited to get back and playing in front of the fans. there's not another place i'd rather be, than playing in front of these fans here so, you know, it's always fun. >> reporter: so you heard it right there. the players are ready to go. they are getting for the home season opener. you're seeing fans check in, and i'm being told there will be another wave of fans coming in probably at the bottom of the hour as folks are getting off of work and we'll have another update for you when that happens and we'll send it to sam and laura in the ballpark. best seat in the house by far, right, guys? >> we're staying here as long as we can, but we know they will kick us out. that's because we're right here on the field. we haven't touched the grass. no touching the grass but they are ready for the home opener. >> if only you could talk to someone who would be able to work something out, i don't know, perhaps. giants president larry baer. >> how you guys doing? happy opening day. >> it takes so much to prep for this day. >> we're really excited. there's some round numbers today. this is the 135th season of giants baseball. new york and san francisco combined. 60th year in san francisco and 25th year for our group, our ownership group, so it's sort of a big day for us. opening day, nothing like opening day. >> you can't beat, it and i love the rich history of san francisco, and you can feel it. it's palpable. >> you're asking about, you knokno know, sitting here. baseball is very superstitious so if we win today you'll be here tomorrow and the next day. >> done. >> i know your bosses. do you want the giants to win or not? >> twist my arm, i'm here. >> i don't know if the giants will take away from our productivity. you mentioned the superstition of baseball and the numbers lining up. numbers in 2010, 2012 and 2014 and how do you improve upon a team that's won three championships this decade and made the playoffs last year? >> we really think about each year. each year is its own movie, and somebody is going to overperform which is great. somebody might underperform so you have to go fix that, minor leagues or a trade. somebody may get hurt and it's kind of like the slate is clean because if you -- if you rested on your laurels too much it wouldn't be the right thing to do, and that's the great thing about bruce bochy and our coaching staff, bobby evans and his group in the front office is no one is resting on their laurels and everybody is grinding through every pitch and we're really proud. the one thing about us is we're stable. in the 25 years, we've had three general managers and throw field managers. dusty baker, felipe alou and bruce bochy so, you know, when we go and the talk about free agents or johnny cueto or jeff samardzija coming over, they know what they are getting with the giants. >> the longevity, the team spirit that you really feel and you get it from the fans as well. >> here we are. 489 consecutive sellouts, and we don't take anything for granted there. >> pat on the shoulder. >> we get to 500 and that's a real weapon. there are nine players on the field, but there's the tenth lawyer, you know, metaphorically speaking and when you're coming off a road trip and land at 4:00 in the morning which happens a lot in baseball, that energy, that adrenaline rush when you have 41,000 big deal. >> we know you're probably bleary eyed and didn't get much sleep but thanks for coming out and sitting with us. >> we eeblg watching the giants on nbc bay area, and we'll see you -- if we win today, same ballot channel norm. >> you heard it right here on live tv. >> i'll be a ballot girl, whatever it is. >> done. all right, got it. larry baer, thanks so much for joining us. >> i think he said batboy. amazing to be out here. back to you guys in the studio. we'll be out here for the rest of the afternoon. >> that's like a binding contract, yeah. >> thanks, guys. >> as a reminder you can watch so many of the giants games right here hon nbc bay area. today's game actually will be on nbc sports bay area at 1:35 this afternoon. >> and you can bet we'll have a camera out there for the batboy and bat girl when that happens. are we heading over to weather right now? vianey is standing by in studio to get us ready for the rest the workweek and some changes ahead. >> 61 is degrees right now and i know kari will bring you your gameday forecast. a look at the time line of more rain on the way. all that coming up after the break. stick with us. welcome back to nbc bay area. we continue to cover breaking news out of southern california. live pictures from our sister station in los angeles. there's been a deadly shooting at an elementary school in san bernardino. two people are dead, four people were shot total. two students hospitalized. th two people are dead. we'll go to live coverage from our sister station knbc. >> are the kids coming here? >> there's going to be a media briefing area. the police are setting down at 1275 north park. >> can you tell me about the kids. are they back there in the school buses? >> i don't have any information. i just arrived on the situation. i don't have anything for you, tony. >> no worries. thank you for your hard work. i appreciate it. i know this is a chaotic situation. all these parents behind me and wondering is my kid okay? >> i've got an elementary school kid, too, so it gets to me. i have an 8-year-old son, so can i imagine what these parents are going through. in fact, i want to bring in this lady over here. i talked about earlier. did you find out if your fifth grader is okay? >> his teacher just taked and they are going to cal state and i think we're going to go over there. >> how grateful are you that
