about two weeks for the vaccine to be effective and one dose is supposed to be roughly 95% effective. as for the steps forward, burke is starting the conversation with local lawmakers on maybe getting legislation in there that would get rid of this exemption and ultimately that would mean all kids would have to get vaccinated unless it is medically unsafe for them to do so. live in marin county nbc that's awesome. just a little practice. something to think about. >> thank you very much. well most people in arizona this weekend will be partying super bowl style, of course but there's one group from the bay area that is actually on a business trip. >> they're going to be productive. next year, the super bowl is of course in santa clara, and the planning committee is hard at work. the ceo of super bowl l, the host committee, is there to watch, listen and take it all in. >> we have been working hard to build out a plan that will excite the bay area will unite the bay area get people to behind the exploding kitten card game wanted to raise $10,000 to release that game to the public. turns out it's surpassed that goal in 20 minutes and within an hour, it soared past the $100,000 mark. as of this morning, the project has more than $121,000, and almost $4.8 million pledged. exploding kittens is described as a strategic version of hot potato for people who are into kittens, explosions laser beams and an occasional ghost. >> we have to toss that in for good measure. now, christina, we would not try to put you through the intense regimen that bob just tackled, kicking the field goal catching passes, but you can do a mean end zone spike i have seen. >> well they're going to have to take down my name but maybe i'll get to that. all right, if you're going to -- ooh. that's my dance because nbc bay area is the home of the super bowl this year. you may not realize this but all the networks have to rotate the super bowl. it's our turn, and it's going to be a really really nice day for a game. but surprisingly we actually have flight delays trying to get down there right now. 80-minute delays in phoenix at the big airport there. that has everything to do with showers rolling through. also delays out of new york. here's the deal we're going to see the rainfall intensify. as you watch all of the pregame coverage on nbc bay area, that's going to be really wet weather out there. glendale, arizona, showing you right about 4:00 during game time hopefully they'll be able to open up the retractable roof and a lot of sunshine expected that day. very unusual to have everything clear out just in time for the big game. and take a look at temperatures there. comparable to what we're going to experience here in santa clara. 70 degrees straight up and 66 degrees in san francisco on super bowl sunday. now, 72 degrees is the high for today in the north bay. warmer temperatures expected up there as we head throughout saturday. up into the mid 70s, and then things are going to change. we'll see a lot of afternoon sunshine today. warmer weekend temperatures coming your way all across the board, and rain returns next week. that's the big story i want to focus in on. for the next couple days temperatures staying nice and steady, just a beautiful weekend all across the bay area. monday into tuesday, starting to add clouds. temperatures stay warm and then we take it to the future cast and something we haven't had for quite some time a decent looking storm system on the way to the bay area. now, what you'll notice about this is that we're going to see the highest totals up in the north bay. i think a lot of this is probably going to stay out of san jose area but we could pick up anywhere between a half inch to maybe 3/4 inch or more rain right here in the south bay. the models are kind of going back and forth, and wishy-washy. this is the christina loren certified forecast. a half inch to maybe 3/4 inch. maybe 1/1/4 to 2 inches on the east shore. 3-plus inches definitely possible in the high terrain of santa rosa napa county also expecting that through marin county and sonoma county and 2 to 4 inches looking good for areas to the north of vallejo. we really need this rain so hopefully things will pan out. you can check with us on nbcbayarea.com check our weather page. we're going to keep you updated. hey, just have to know from you two, who are you going for this year for the super bowl? >> oh, threw it back our way. >> i'm going for the seahawks because it's my big girl's favorite team because she's for the osprey, which is a seehawk. >> i would love to see tom brady get the fourth super bowl ring. probably making him go down as the greatest quarterback ever debatably if he wins. >> a returning snl alumto the stage of 30 rock for the first time in decades. >> we'll tell you who it is next. it is a famed saturday night alum who says he's going to be there for the 40th anniversary special. >> hello, boys and girls. you helicopters flying right by his home. >> safety. especially with weather and so on and then noise. i don't mind it during the day, but, you know at midnight i don't really want to hear a helicopter. >> ucsf said helicopters will only be used to access the children's hospital carrying children or pregnant mothers in life-threatening emergencies. it will not be used for trauma scene transport or routine transport. the primary flight path will be mostly over the bay, and about 40 trance ports are expected each month. one neighbor said current noise isn't a problem, but he had no idea he just moved next to a heli pad cleared for landing on sunday. >> maybe i won't hear it at all. maybe it will be waking me up all the time. >> over in petrero hill sam says the new hospital is already delivering more traffic. >> i guess it just remains to be seen. >> he is hoping the helicopter will be less noticeable because he and others believe it's necessary. >> if you're hurt you want the best medical care you want it oo be as fast as possible. >> it's necessary whether you like it or not, and i tend to not like a lot of noise. >> in other news japan is working closely with jordan to river tap. for us that means we're going to see rich moisture pass through the bay area. i stopped that clock for you, and this is a week from today, which is why i'm really kind of nervous about how much rain we're going to get. i really hope that things will stay as they are right now, maintain. the organization that we're expecting, i stopped the clock for you friday 8:00 p.m. still getting the
