Her mother and her moifs boyfriend are both in custody after the two were arrested here at the bart station. 23yearold sarah kruger and 26yearold Ryan Scott Warner were both charged with suspicion of murder and assault resulting in the death of a chooilt chiil. Police showed up Early Saturday Morning after they got an anonymous tip about the welfare of this child. Sadly, once they got inside that apartment, they figured out why someone called police. They found the 3yearold girl dead in a bedroom inside that apartment. There were signs, they believe, of possible sexual assault. There were also signs of Blunt Force Trauma to the little girl, but the couple was nowhere to be seen. A neighbor had seen them leaving the apartment a short time earlier with luggage in hand. And of course, they were arrested late yesterday here at this bart station. But just last night, there was a vigil held for all the family and friends who were just so saddened by the news of this 3yearolds death. I cant believe it. This is not sarah. This is not the girl i know. The proudest moment of my life is gone forever. And theres nothing we can do or say that can bring her back. I hope nobody ever has to go through this. Kruger and warner are both behind bars in napa county this morning. Theyre awaiting an arraignment that may not be until tomorrow, though. We do know from the coroner that they could release the results of the autopsy on this girls body as early as this afternoon, so that could reveal much more about what happened to this little girl. We will have the latest today at 5 00 and 6 00. All right, thanks, chase. An 18yearold charged with stabbing a san jose state student to death could enter a plea in court today. Prosecutors say he charged 22yearold richard fan during a Birthday Party last weekend. Witnesses say fan was killed while trying to break up a fight. His twin brother was also arrested. But he was later released. Hundreds of people in the south bay have had their mail stolen and probably dont even know about it. Christie smith is live at the post office in san jose. The Postal Service reminding people to lock up their mail. Reporter yeah, thats one of the options. Were talking about quite a bit of mail being stolen tied to more than 250 addresses. Police are thinking that there may be even more mail theft once they continue their investigation. Police arrested 47yearold david zumr and Timothy Reinert for possession of methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia after police saw them loitering in a Shopping Center on union avenue. When Police Contacted them, they had large amounts of stolen mail. A spokesperson for the Postal Service says that theyve seen this going on in belmont, really across the bay area into the central valley, with thieves looking for things like cash, credit cards and checks. And they say here are some things you can do. You can invest in a locking mailbox, but you have to get permission from the post office first. You can get a p. O. Box. Participate in a local Neighborhood Watch group. The chance of the mail theft are low, but if it happens to you or your neighbor, one instance is one too many. Police are saying that people that have had their mail stolen would be notified on february 7th on how to get their mail back. People are reporting it more and thats really the key to this. Go to the Police Department or sheriffs department, let them know what you think is going on. You can also go to the post office and get a mail theft complaint form. They say thats key for them because then they can track where its happening and it will help them with their investigation. They also say that this time of year, tax documents are awfully attractive. A lot of people getting those w2s. It has been a year since two Santa Cruz Police officers were gunned down in the line of duty. However, their families have not received any of the money that was raised in their honor. St. Laura butch baker and Elizabeth Baker were killed last february. Since then, the city has collected more than 550,000 in donations for their families. The delay was caused by a lack of planning by city officials and also police union leaders. The union is now proposing to split the money between the families. Janet yellen has been sworn in to succeed ben bernanke, to become the first woman to lead the Federal Reserve in its 100year history. Yellen took the oath in a brief ceremony this morning in front of a fireplace in the feds massive boardroom. Yellen is the former San Francisco fed president and calberkley professor. A secret ballot election to name a successor is expected to be held later this year. Tonight a bay area city will decide if a controversial cell phone tower will go up at an elementary school. At t is hoping to get the schools approval to install the tower. It would be disguised as a bell tower just feet from the playground. Some parents say they fear the tower could cause health issues. At t says the tower meets all federal requirements. The company also says they have dozens of towers at or near schools across the state. A new report finds the nurses at San FranciscoGeneral Hospital are at least partly to blame for the death of lynn spalding. Shes the patient who disappeared and was found dead in the stairwell 17 days later. The San Francisco chronicle says a recent investigation found a doctor left written instructions telling staff to never leave spalding unattended. It also found at least one sheriffs deputy was told to search the stairwell. Spaldings body was found in one of those stairwells more than two weeks later. As a result of her september disappearance, the hospital has changed some of its policies. Some employees living in the east bay took a different commute to work thanks to the google ferry. Starting today through friday, google is providing a private Ferry Service from the harbor bay terminal in alameda to redwood city. The Transportation Authority says it doesnt expect the fiveday trial to impact riders or parking. Google will be providing off site parking and also a Shuttle Service for employees who are not allowed to park in the harbor bay ferry lot. Meanwhile, the days of free parking are also over at the ferry terminal. Starting today, riders will have to pay an additional 2 to park their cars. Those who choose not to will be fined 40. The seahawks led by head coach and bay area native pete carroll, just dominated the broncos, winning 438. Let me give you an idea of how much rainfall were expecting as we head throughout the three systems combined. The first two not going to provide much. Maybe a quarter of an inch of rainfall. But watch what happens as we get into saturday night, and particularly early on sunday. The blue comes in, and we are talking about this as well, just to our north. So we could be measuring anywhere between three quarters of an inch in santa rosa potentially to an inch and a half in the higher elevations. So that flood potential is possible as you head through sunday into monday. Flooding. I know, not a word youve heard thus far this wintertime, but its definitely going to change.
