((mauricio marin)) we've talked to some neighbors coming home from work stunned to see police tape up. they tell us it makes them a little uneasy to hear about a burglary right on their street. back to you./// ((dave courvoisier)) > we are following a crash involving two pedestrians in the area of lamb and charleston. ((paula francis)) police say a young child and an adult were both injured when a car hit them patranya bhoolsuwan joins us live from the scene. ((patranya bhoolsuwan)) > the vehicle involved in this crash still here, the damage visible on both the front of the car and the cracked windshield. investigators are still gathering evidence as we speak, but the good news is the 2 survive. according to metro police this happened just a little after 2pm. investigators say a man and his 18 month old daughter were hit while trying to cross the street right in front of snyder elementary school...they were not in a crosswalk both were taken to u-m-c .. the driver apparently was speeding at the time of crash through a school zone. he was as also impaired and failed a field sobriety test. a father who stopped by to see what's happening with his 2 young daughters say this a reminder how people have to be so careful on the roads..especiall y kids. ((nico duran/father: "i told my girl dont' cross the street, cross where you are supposed toc ross...make sure they have lines crosswalk. yean.")) this father says he sees way too many cars speeding through one witness also told police the man who was hit today was told right before he was crossing to not do it because it's dangerous ...but he did not listen. ((paula francis)) officials say the charter school campus will likely close. since we aired this story on monday... parents have been calling us... especially those whose children have special needs. ((dave courvoisier)) 8 news now reporter brittany edney spoke to one family who is afraid they will be left in limbo. brittany. ((brittany edney)) dave, im here at the roberson campus location on azure and sky pointe drive in the northwest part of the valley.. it most likely, will shut its doors once this semester wraps up. quest academy has been managed by a receiver since this past fall after the school was investigated for multiple issues including the mis-use of money. i'm actually holding the report that the receiver put together.. recommending the campus to close. ..and families i'm hearing from say... this school has a large population of special needs and they're worried about what will happen to those kids. ((brittany edney)) 17-year-old john killman was diagnoised with asperger's syndrome in 2007-- which he says impacts how he interacts in social situations. but once he started going to quest academy 2 years ago... it clearly changed the way he communicates. quest academy student ((john really comfortable experience. made quite a few friends, i liked the teachers. i really didn't open up that much last year, but this year i'm opening up a lot more." )) ((brittany edney)) john even started up a video game club--- which he says was a huge accomplisment. but the closing of roberson, could take him away from not only his friends but also an succeed in the classroom. (( john killman, quest academy student )) "when i'm stressed out, they'll let me take a break, they'll let me listen to music while i'm doing my work. they'll let me take some time to draw which is something i like to do." ((brittany edney)) the clark county school district says as long as students are within the correct boundaries-- they can always attend a district school and will receive accomodation. have individualized education plans (ieps). if a student transfers to a ccsd school and has an iep from a charter school, ccsd will honor that iep and continue to provide that student an appropriate education." but john says he doesn't want to switch schools.. ((john killman, quest academy student)) "honestly, there's a lot of kids that are special at this school that really could thrive at quest in the future and to hear it go down, it's really, depressing, really sad and depressing."
