((michael stevens)) we're at the shell on silverado ranch... right before the 15... and all morning its been packed with people heading in and out of town for the holiday. those at triple-a say for nine straight years the number of people in our region traveling during this holiday is up to about 3-point 5-million. here's some good news... for the first time in years, pump prices are staying under $3 per gallon. at this shell... it's under that mark averaging around 2-45 a gallon. drivers we spoke to headed to california say they're trying to beat the rush by leaving early: ((brittney martin // driving to california: it's been definitely more traffic than usual. i'm more dreading once we get into san bernadino area.)) ((christianne klein)) 12 children remain hospitalized following a tragic bus crash in tennessee that left five students dead. the driver... 24-year-old johnthony walker... is behind bars facing five counts of vehicular homicide among other charges. investigators say walker was traveling well above the speed limit when the bus flipped over and wrapped around a tree. today officers say they have from the driver--- and there's no trace of alcohol or drugs in the drivers system. walker has no criminal record, but his driving record shows his license was suspended in 2014 for lack of insurance. and two months ago, his bus swiped a car minor damage to both vehicles. he is expected in court next week./// ((christianne klein)) and near the crash sight a public memorial remains in place--- with teddy bears, flowers and signs. last night the community gathered to remember the five elementary school who died in the crash. officials say three were in the 4th grade, one in first and another in kindergarten. today the governor visited the school to offer his condolences to families and share his gratitude about the overwhelming support from the community. ((paul joncich)) president- elect trump tells the new york times that government conflict of interest laws will not apply to him as president. he said under the law, he has no obligation to cut ties with his businesses. ((christianne klein)) >> he also said the trump name, quote "is certainly a hotter brand than it was before." anna werner has more on the president- elect's outlook on his business ventures. saying... when it comes to conflicts of interest, the law favored him, and that "the president can't have a conflict of interest". but this law professor says that's not true. (quinn) he's wrong because the president has an obligation to act in all things, for america first in his words. brian quinn is from boston college. (quinn) and when there is the prospect, even the likelihood that his private business interests can affect his decision making then it's hard for the citizens, to really believe that first and not for his own personal interest. donald trump's interests, and businesses, span 59 properties in at least 12 other countries...everything from residential towers to golf courses to hotels. the trump organization has said management of the businesses will transfer to mr. trump's children when he becomes president. "this is big league stuff" and on 60 minutes, he said the country will be his priority. (trump 60 minutes) "i don't care about hotel occupancy. doing." but mr. trump's transition activities have raised questions. the president-elect was photographed at trump tower last week with three of his indian business partners. while the trump camp later claimed it wasn't a meeting - only a brief exchange of hellosit drew attention in india. (madan) "it wasn't received much like the way it was received here." tanvi madan is an indian foreign policy expert with the brookings institution. "one thing it definitely did was increase the visibility of both the indian media." there's also ivanka trump's presence at a meeting between her father and japanese prime minister shinzo abe. and an argentine spokesman from the president's office says ivanka trump said "hello" to argentine president mauricio macri at the end of a congratulatory call between the argentine leader and mr. trump last week. the trump team didn't return our request for a comment. new york times reporters said mr. trump told them on tuesday, "if it were up to some peoplei would never, ever see my again." quinn says removing conflicts for mr. trump means separating himself from his businesses. ((jonathan narveson//accenture managing director: they don't want to be on the news about losing customer data because that affects the trust in their brand.)) ((vanessa murphy)) the i-team reached out to the affected businesses to find out more about their responses to the attacks and other casino to find out how they're trying to protect customer information... none would agree to any interviews and no official comments. ((jonathan: nobody wants to show where they're weak. and i think that's one of the problems that we have in terms of responding to cyber security threats.)) ((vanessa murphy)) jonathan narveson is a managing director at accenture - a global company which helps businesses with technology. banking, in insurance, in casinos, across the board, cyber crime is a very existential threat to the livelihood of those firms.)) ((vanessa murphy)) turns out iranian hackers may have been to blame for the attack against international gaming giant las vegas sands - the venetian and palazzo websites personal information was stolen... according to bloomberg, damage was estimated at 40-million dollars. ((jonathan: we see it from the cyber activists who want to make a demonstration// or even the lone wolf kind of thing where it's you know, the old classic college guy in a bedroom in his basement who's doing the attacks.)) ((vanessa murphy)) arresting the hackers rarely happens... ((adam pranter/fbi: how many we can actually get our hands, that's become harder and harder because the nature of the internet, right? is such that you know every corner of the that.)) ((vanessa murphy)) supervisory special agent adam pranter runs the f-b-i cyber squad in las vegas. he says cyber attacks have cost businesses in the valley millions - and the i-team has learned that's for a variety of reasons... ((vanessa murphy/reporter: are companies paying ransom to hackers? adam: i believe some companies are paying ransom to hackers. yes. we advise that they not pay ransom you know for the same reason we don't want to keep that - because they're making money off these - we don't want to keet having money.)) ((vanessa murphy)) often times - hackers will lock information until digital currency is transferred in a nearly untraceable way - and when a company's livelihood is threatened - well....they send the money. ((vanessa murphy/reporter: have any if your local clients paid ransom? troy wilkinson/axiom: yes.)) ((vanessa murphy)) troy wilkinson runs axiom cyber vegas and across the country. ((troy: we never recommend paying the ransom simply because we're going to encourage this behavior.)) ((vanessa murphy)) the businesses end up funding the enemy. and since there's no requirement to report any attack or whether ransom is paid...the problem is difficult to get ahold of and fight. ((adam: it's difficult for me as well to quantify a lot of what is going on out there.)) ((vanessa murphy)) the head of the nevada gaming control board would not agree to but he tells the i-team so far - no cyber attack at a casino property has affected gaming operations... and businesses are encouraged to report any attacks - but again they are not required... ((troy: it's the perfect storm of hackers having the ability to take advantage of open vulnerabilities.))
