could sign up for more than 16 units, knowing they could drop one of them. it was called holding a course. now they can't under the calcentral system. >> they went with this system because, basically, students were enrolling in a bunch of classes that they weren't sure they were going to end up taking or not. and so, that made their wait list process go slower. >> reporter: that used to make it harder for some students to get into a high-demand course. >> nobody can hold on to that class while i'm -- you're either enrolled or you're not. so that's effectively good. >> reporter: but the associated students of uc berkeley expressed concern about the new process. >> so they're stuck where they're only technically enrolled in maybe one or two classes, which causes a bunch of problems and wait three hours for a connecting flight to kauai and also have to pay about $1,000 more for the extra flight. >> i told the manager, i said you play back the recording and you'll see that it was an error on your part, not ours. >> reporter: barbara says a manager listened to a recording of the booking and admitted it was cheapoair's mistake. still, he couldn't correct it. >> and i'm "7 on your side" asked cheapoair why the couple had to pay for an agent's mistake, and the company stepped up, booking the couple on a direct flight to kauai for the same price. >> it was incredible. i mean, it was like, wow! >> reporter: cheapoair did not address what happens if an agent makes a mistake, saying it had to get approval from the airline to refund the incorrect ticket. it said cheapoair is not the end service provider.
