francisco center on market street. lonny riviera is live with the information. >> reporter: this is where police spent time today. they're saying the man is a white male in his 30s. here is a look at the scene. someone reported the body of a man discovered inside of the small. the medical ex-examiner came to west field center mall. detectives entered through bloomingdale's and that is where they seemed to focus their investigation. >> so white male victim in his 30s. we don't have a confirmation of identity at this point. the examiner is responsible for confirming identity of the body. westfield management issued this statement that said the center is open and operating normally and we're cooperating with the investigation. the mall opens this morning and stays open until 8:30 this evening. you can see this is a well-traveled area. they're asking anyone who has seen anyone to contact police. berkeley police are warning pokemon go players to be careful after three people were guilty to 26 charges connected to the explosion. 20 suspected gang members are in jail after months of an investigation involving the fbi and chp. we're live outside of the district attorney's office where news came down today. leslie? >> 300 officers at 5:00 a.m. on august 3rd, raided 19 homes from richmond to martinez and to modesto. they had arrested 24 gang members. these are the faces of the gang members police say are responsible for highway shootings, human trafficking, attempted murder and drug deals. >> this results in 22 witness murder plots. we had individuals plotting to murder some witnesses that had come forward and spoken to the police. >> this is a boat the da says gang members cruised around the delta in. a number 1/4 on the front, their adopted emblem. they saw it was investigators say 17 miles from here a do it yourselfer was putting in electrical wiring for a tub that turned out faulty and ignited what is being called the most-most destructive fire in california there is a permit required for electrical installation and we're unable to locate or identify a permit on file. >> investigators zeroed in on the home after the fire started but have to be sure. burning near coalinga is prompting new evacuations. the mineral fire broke out yesterday afternoon. cal fire says it's burning in steep terrain, making containment difficult. people in the fire zone have been asked to leave their homes. >> vac waiting here at 1:30 in the morning and then, at 2:00 in the afternoon, they, the she haves pulled up and said you've got to roll and i said now, i'm out of here. >> a thousand firefighters are on the front lines of the fire. progress has been made by crews fighting the pilot fire in san bernardino county. it's up from 6% containment yesterday. a spare the air alert for the bay area is in effect tomorrow because of the sobranes fire which burned nearly 70,000 acres in monterey count eye. firefighters say this started with an illegal camp fire nearly three weeks ago. crews hope to have the fire contained by the end of the month. 49ers played a game on sunday at levis stadium. today, they returned to candle stick. 49ers reached back to 1946 when needs. >> brian says he was in the right place at the right time. a man walking in a parking lot was run over by a car. the driver says she didn't know she'd hit someone. the 55-year-old was walking through the walmart parking lot, run over by a driver pulling into a spot. first describers described injuries as life dwlenting but he's stable and expected to survive. officer as rested the driver for driving under the influence. bars broke into an apple building overnight. this isn't the main campus. a guard spotted the suspects, followed their car into san jose. and investigators recovered clubs when you're the only only black person. >> having a resource center to meet and stay connected was a demand put on the table by the black student union. after a year of negotiations, uc berkeley agreed to give the space. it will be called fannie lou hammer research center. >> it's going to sustain our he megsal lives, academic lives and mental. it's important for diverse students to feel they their own place to go to. this place will be renovated. >> reporter: the university will pay $82,000 for renovation and to furnish the space. another demand is the renaming of barrows hall. bsu wants the university to change the name to ashada hall, a former black panther that sought political asylum in cuba. the university says the dialogue continues. the center will open in the fall. at uc berkeley, abc7 news. a new bill would add more options to a rape portion of a college education. forms would add groups and the bill is backed by major asian american groups, critics question reasoning and focus on asian americans. >> we like data. we like to get data to be able to put tools to the right problem. but many in the asian community are concerned they're being singled out. the author of the bill says he isn't sure what the data collected would be used for. the proposal heads to the senate appropriations committee this week. governor brown vetoed a similar bill last year. sanford scientists are breaking ground with three d printers. they can take images from other planets and present them and manipulate the printed version. bay area scientists have helped discover a new species that may no longer exist in the world. researchers at california academy of sciences compared information using birds in their collection. they found two subspecies of vemillion fly
