updates on coach harbaugh's future with the 49ers. follow us on twitter. a bicycle ride in the east bay ended in tragedy today when a cyclist crashed into a truck. we're live in danville with details. reporter: i'm outside the pete's coffee in danville because there is where a lot of cycling groups meet up saturday morning and then head out together for earl morning rights inch this case a chain reaction sent two cyclists to the hospital and killed a third. the driver of a water truck is comforted by friends at a deadly scene near dublin. the truck and a bicyclist collided head on. the bikes left crumpled and upside-down on the side of the road. the rider died at the scene. according to officer greg hart with the chp, large group of cyclists, at least 50 or so was traveling down highland road. two accidents happened just moments apart. first. >> near the front of the pack, a collision between two riders resulted in major injuries to one rider and minor to the other. >> then one of the cyclists trying to avoid that collision crossed the double yellow-ending up in the truck's path. the driver viz my shape did not want to talk on camera but told the chp. >> he saw a lot of cyclists scrambling to avoid the first collision, and that point he did see somebody come into the lane in front of him and tried to stop as best he could and wasn't able to avoid anything. >> other bicyclist says these roads are popular for weekend rides. >> it's pretty scary. you have to be really aware when you're riding a bicycle because you can't stop as fast as a car. >> the victim's name has not been released. the others involved in the initial collision are being treated at the hospital. in contra costa county, abc7 news. >> at least one person was hurt when two cars crashed on highway 101 in san jose. you can see in the cell phone video one car caught fire, which spread to nearby brush before crews could put it out. the crash happened on northbound 101 north of 880 around noon. the chap chp says at least one person had moderate to major injuries. the cause of the crash is under investigation. to weather now. you can expect another chilly night ahead. right now, the skies are
