police say she kidnapped her baby boy following visitation. 18-month-old boy was taken from his home by his mother yesterday afternoon. abc7 news was there when the boy's father, he would win gonzales, found out late last night that his son was safe. >> they said they found my son in newark, so that was what i was afraid of, they would leave sunnyvale and go somewhere else. i am so grateful they found him. you don't know how happy i am! the mother rodriguez, does not have custody of her son. gonzales told us one of her friends shoved a family member out of the way to help her take the baby. the baby was found in good health. >> a scary situation last night turned out to be a false alarm. police began evacuating residents near fifth and market street after finding what they called a suspicious vehicle on stevenson street. bomb squad was called in while police closed down the nearby streets. officials gave the all-clear at midnight and no word on why that vehicle was considered suspicious in the first place. this morning a driver is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after he slammed into three other cars in san francisco. abc7 news was on the scene shortly after the crash yesterday at 7th and bryant street. the driver hit three parked cars, and one went into cafe romo, which fortunately was closed. >> he came so fast and he was actually out of control and he was like fishtailing. he was really, really out of control. and i heard like a bomb. it sounded like a bomb and then i saw the glass everywhere. >> no one else was injured. a three-year-old boy is dead after drowning in a backyard swimming pool in vallejo. it happened around 4:00 yesterday afternoon on california street. police say the boy was playing in the yard of a home when he fell into the pool. a family member pulled him out started cpr and called 911. no charges were filed and police belive it was an excellent. >> firefighters were busy with a grass fire that flared up at least twice. the fire that burned 5 acres broke out around 11:00 a.m. yesterday on creek view drive. damage was done to the roof of one house. crews were able to get control of the situation quickly and left the scene burks they were called back twice when the wind rekindled the smoke and the flames. >> we were getting ready to pull the hoses off but the fire department game and everyone shut down. the roof over here got some embers on it. >> neighbors told abc7 news they are trying to figure out how to clean up the brush on the hill behind those homes. a lightning sparked a wildfire in the shasta trinity national forest has grown to 1300 acres and is just 5% contained. it broke out tuesday about halfway between eureka and redding. no damaged buildings have been reported or injuries. >> park officials say they are cooperating with state officials while investigating the park ride accident. two people were injured in friday night's accident in santa clara. a worker is in critical condition this morning. a rider suffered a broken finger. officials say the employee stepped into the path of the ride while trying to get a rider's cell phone. >> make sure they don't do that. it's not worth it for a cell phone. >> makes me not want to ride the roller coaster. it really does. >> park management said in a statement that safety is its number one priority. in 1998 there was an accident on the same roller coaster that used to be called top gun. a hayward man was killed when he will climbed over a fence to get his wife's hat and was kicked in the head by a rideer. a year later a twelve-year-old boy goal his death on drop tower after slipping from the ride's restraint. and a four-year-old boy drown in the boomerang great barrier reef wave pole in 2007. a man who carried a gun to a wedding was detained and questioned by police after the firearm went off. it injured five people. it happened last night at the a swanky hotel. guests were having pictures taken during the reception when the gun discharged. a woman was grazed in the head by a ricochet and four others were hurt by shattered glass. the man with the gun was laced in the back of a police cruiser. and hotel guests were stunned. >> we were walking in and we heard a gunshot. i thought something got dropped. >> we were stunned to arrive here and find out there had been a shot and et cetera, et cetera. >> hotel officials allowed the wed to go continue. it's unclear if the man with the gun will face charges. >> a man angered over losing custody of his son triggered a deadly chase and shooting outside a dallas police headquarters yesterday morning. police say the man shot at the you woulding the oft efforts and their cars. they chased him to a nearby city where a sniper killed him. his father is mourning the loss of his son. >> was he a perfect person? no. none of us are. but did he deserve to lose his son? >> a bomb squad later blew up the armored van because he said it was full of explosive. >> in new york police say no new leads nine days after two convicted murderers escaped from a maximum security prison in northern new york state. a prison worker joyce mitchell now faces charges. she's accused of helping the men break out. the nba finals will resume this evening when the warriors host the cavaliers in game five at oracle arena. take a look at the countdown clock. we with winds up 75 miles an hour. this is a category 1. gusts of 100 and barely moving. but when it does move in the next 48 hours, it will parallel the coast, the mexican coast, spreading anywhere from 5 to 10 inches of rain and some very high surf. but it is not expected to affect the lower 48. mt. tam with the sun up about 40 minutes ago. a beautiful shot. we are looking at upper 50s in oakland. 55 half moon bay and san jose partly cloudy skies for you in the south bay. temperatures nearing average today with minor fluctuations throughout the week ahead. concord and livermore, you are still clear at 58. 52 in santa rosa. napa petaluma 54. emeryville looking gray. patchy fog. it's cool around the bay. mild to warm so that's kind of the way we like it around here. we will see a few systems affect putts throughout the week allowing for the temperatures to kind of fluctuate within five degrees or so up and down throughout the week. nothing huge. today we've got breezy winds at the coast as the high continues to nudge to the east. it's cooling the interior off. and yet another area of low pressure rises up and over the ridge. it's this point here. it could work to bring a degree or two of cooling at the coast as some of that fog is eaten up tomorrow. otherwise we look for one of the cooler days to be monday, the beginning of the work week. this is the last week of spring with 87 today in livermore dropping a few degrees tomorrow. and a minor bump up. we drop off and looks like the warmest day at this point could be a week from today as numbers back up into the mid-90s. so the fog will lift by about noontime in san francisco. bringing breezy winds up to 15, 18 miles an hour. 64 degrees. a few degrees cooler than yesterday and the temperatures slowly dropping throughout the degrees tomorrow with the marine layer clearing looks like for some parts of the coast and the summer spread right through the middle of the week. temperatures coming down a few degrees thursday president of spokane's naacp, speaking out about her race. they claim her daughters had been lying for years about her ethnicity. >> the deception part of it, her saying i am african-american or i have a black father, that became alarming because there was no basis in truth. >> she was born in montana and is of european decent. -- descent. in 2007 she start the changing from this to a more ethnic race. she's a graduate of a historically black howard university, the photo on the naacp facebook page, of a black man she called her dad. >> i myself black because that's how i identify. >> this is abc7 news. >> it is time once again to relocate the sand along the great highway in san francisco. the southbound lanes will be closed. it is a two-week project will involve moving over 255 cubic yards of the sand away from the highway and toward the ocean. between lincoln bay and the boulevard will be close today traffic up to five days. it all starts tomorrow. that project tries to reduce the likelihood of sand buildup on the highway during windy weather. the type that we are having today, lisa. >> yeah. it's been cool at the beach and no changes there. but we are looking at a we are starting out with fog in san francisco. but not everywhere. the marine layer is at about 1500 make 1800 feet deep. it's a little deeper but it will get slightly deeper before it clears and maybe bring sun to the coast tomorrow. the coolest day of the week should be tomorrow as we begin the work week. so we are looking at temperatures and fog mainly in the low 50s and poor visibility from half moon bay. santa rosa not so bad at 4 miles. 5 miles across the bay in oakland. and the sun was up. that's as early as it's going to get this time of the year. 5:47. we will gain toot two minutes before the summer solstice. even beyond that about 14 hours 14 minutes of day light so enjoy it. 55 san jose a few clouds around the south bay. 54 morgan hill. no 90s to speak of today. it's all due to settling into this june pattern here for the week ahead. minor fluctuations each day. we look for it to be much more comfortable. but still some 90s in the outlook as we get closer to the official first day of summer. here's a nice backdrop. it is, of course lake huh toe where temperatures will be today in the 80s. a little sunshine. cool back home. back to a nice pattern for everyone and a little cooler still tomorrow as the trough of low pressure pushes lou the pacific northwest. that's what is going to influence our weather throughout the next five to seven-day. the week low temperature will allow for the marine layer to grow taller and allow the breezy wind at the coast. and it will make all of this happen. but by the end of the work week, it looks like high pressure is going to build back and some of the warmest weather may be some of the last few days of the spring. the coolest day of the week is tomorrow where we start off with morrow clouds. we could peel away more fog tomorrow. today mid-60s in monterey. it is cooling off a bit in the sacramento valley. 90 for a high there. 96 in yosemite with 83. we saw the gorgeous shot of lake tahoe. not much change tomorrow. a little bump up midweek. you notice we drop off toward thursday. but if that one model verifies we should warm back up by a week from yesterday when low 90s return. today pretty nice from low 60s half moon bay to the upper 60s from san rafael. last day of the san mateo county fair. stanford has their graduation today. you will see mid-to upper 80s from concord. 889 livermore. 9 hours
