developing news out of west oakland this morning. at least five people were injured, one critically, in a shooting on san pablo avenue. it happened around 9:15 last night. you see the number of bullet casings littering the streets. two victims were immediately taken to hyland hospital. three other victims eventually arrived at hyland but with nonlife-threatening injuries. the search is underway for the gunmen. also developing news in san jose. police responded to a call of shots fired on indigo oak lane. officers found one woman with a gunshot wound before 1:00 this morning. the woman was taken to the hospital where she later died. one man has been taken into custody. turning to politics. state republican party officials are hoping today's convention goes a little smoother than yesterday's. donald trump's presence led to five arrests outside the burlingame hyatt, while john kasich enjoyed an orderly reception. we have the story. >> ohio governor john kasich opened with a quick that number is gradually changing. democratic registration is up 185%, while republican registration has jumped 63% since 2012. the deadline to register to vote or to register for a particular party police say were murdered by their own children. the two were shot to death, according to authorities. and this morning just released court documents are revealing what the couples' children did after their murder. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo has more. >> only 22-year-old appeared in front of the camera in the croom. the 17-year-old child was kept hidden in the hallway but he is being charged as an adult. >> both of them were charged with two counts of murder and a special circumstance allegation of double murder. >> from the charging documents we learned the brothers went to a convention in oakland on saturday. police say their parents were shot to death that morning. after they were arrested wednesday, the brothers told investigators two different stories. one admitted he shot his father multiple times in the garage. twelve times says the da. but hasib said a stranger in the house assaulted him and made him do it. hasib said the stranger was the one who shot his mother. omar told investigators his older brother committed both murders and before they left for the convention, hasib told him to check the garage door to make sure that blood was not seeping out. when police found the bodies of the parents sunday in their home on lucas court, they say there were messages written on the wall. we know one red sorry, my first kill was clumsy. the court document reveals there were two different handwriting styles. they compared the messages with note the books found in their bedrooms and found characteristics consistent with the younger brother's writing. they are both being held without bail. abc7 news. a san francisco police officer has been arrested on suspicion of perjury and filing a false document. the officer is accused of lying on an eligibility form. he's been suspended without pay. in the wake of the latest texting schedule, san francisco police chief ordered all officers to attend classes aimed at preventing acts of racism and homophobism. vic lee explains. >> the police chief ordered sensitivity training classes for out u. all 2,000 plus officers beginning next month. >> no one can say they didn't know what was and wasn't acceptable in the a fire. the send earned says, maybe it's a korean bash be cue, or a slave ship ablaze. and the fourth is fighting termination. the police union is also behind suhr's move, but wants to make one thing about 40 years ago. it's part of a series called "when we rise." abc7 news reporters melanie woodrow and lyanne melendez have the story. >> a smoke-filled riot outside city hall. law enforcement term we will see the temperatures continue to climb but then the see breeze kicks in. it will be breezy throughout the day. 61 santa rosa, 51 livermore. upper 50s in napa. the temperatures have come up considerably this morning. the delta windy and 60 and concord almost as warm as livermore right now. here's why because of the upper elevation winds. so it's been windy all week long, but at least today the northerly winds will work to warm us up just a bit. its been cool. and by the afternoon it should feel pretty good with numbers well above average. the wind gusts could allow for downed trees or powerlines. from 33 miles an hour, you get the idea of of the gusty winds. it will remain breezy is around the bay today. the airport will be quite breezy all afternoon. livermore 11 degrees warmer. and even down around palo alto we are look at a warmer morning for you. finally from san jose this morning, the gusty winds. then warmer days this afternoon. look at the stratus, the low clouds, the fog coming up toward the shoreline tomorrow. and you will feel that wind if you are right at the coast. elsewhere, still going to be a warm day. so in terms. the rest of the state, those winds have been very gusty still in the sierra nevada, high surf, southern california. 60s there with 64 reno. a few showers in the upper elevations. looking at the warmest day of the week to be tomorrow in san jose. low 70s. we will be above that today. even warm on monday. we are continuing the trend of the cooler work week with, come late wednesday into thursday, we've this the light showers. once again we could see some sprinkles on thursday. highs today in the south bay upper 70s. peninsula 79. a little breezy for you at menlo park and redwood city. san francisco, we are in the 70s and 60s right along the coast around half moon bay. 70 daly city. that's before the sea breeze kicks in. 77 san leandro and newark and head inland look at the 80s. pittsburgh today, antioch 82. "7 on your side" michael finney tells us about the new warning to watch out for. >> she was at work when the call came on her cell phone. she was in big trouble. >> you have federal tax payments that need to be paid and there's a case against you. >> she didn't believe it, so she googled the 800 number on her caller i.d., and it really was an irs phone number. >> he said there's about $17,000 that you owe. >> the man told her to pay up or she would be arrested immediately. >> you will be in prison for two years. >> she still had doubts. >> i said i needed to speak to someone. >> is within a few minutes, another call. this from the 408 area code. >> a google search found the number belongs to the santa clara police department. a cop was calling? >> it was pretty serious. we asked the irs to have arrest warrants against her. >> she agreed to cooperate. the man stayed on the phone as she drove to the bank and then to walmart where she wired him $1800, but it wasn't enough. >> they kept sag your file is still under be review. we are seeing quite a few penalties. >> the man told her to wire another 1900. next day more demands. she wired money 8 times in all totaling $16,000, wiping out her bank account, her sister's too. >> in two days i was so stressed out i just couldn't think straight. >> the demands kept coming. she couldn't take it anymore. >> i told my sister i'm going to go in to the cops. >> she drove to the santa clara police department and turned herself in. ready to go to jail. >> i had no choice. >> that's how she learned the truth. >> they told me this is an irs scam, and you fell for it. >> police told her they never called. neither did the irs. scammers had used a cloning device to make those numbers appear to be on her caller i.d. she and her sister had no money for food or rent. friends started a gofundme campaign to help, but she wanted me to warn you. >> this could happen to someone else. >> here's the lessen. voice-over-internet phones can be be manipulated to falsify a caller i.d. number. it's been used in other scams too. if you get a suspicious call, don't assume the caller i.d. is the real number they are calling from. call the agency or company directly to find out for yourself. and remember, the irs will never call and threaten to arrest you if you don't pay up. i'm michael finney, 7 on your side. >> we have much mom ahead on the abc7 news. terrifying scenes out of kenya after a building collapsed. trapped survivors wait fog are a way out of the rubble. plus a tornado rips thaw a texas town, leaving hundreds witho they're lovin' their vegetables. this is huge news! it's all thanks to our birds eye chef's favorites side dishes perfectly sauced or seasoned. what are you..? shh! i'm live tweeting. oh, boy. birds eye. so veggie good. >> thanks for waking up with us. i'm chris nguyen. we will get to the top stories in a moment. first a quick check of the weather. lisa argen is track being the conditions where you live. good morning. >> good morning, chris. we saved the warmest day of the week for the weekend. and from sutro tower you can see how nice it hooks out there. but we do still have some wind that's going to work with us throughout the morning hours in the upper elevations. a wind advisory above 1,000 feet. 50 morgan hill and half moon bay. 56 oakland. mountain view 54. 51 san jose. from emeryville, the camera shaking a little bit. 60 by the delta and livermore. that's due to the gusty wind out of the north-northeast that's allowing for those breezes to blow once again. so at the airport we will see perhaps some problems in oakland. fran with breezy winds all day long. right now they are just by the delta and livermore out of the north. so that translates into a warmer afternoon, less wind this afternoon, and thought the day. tomorrow look at the 80s return inland. and near 70s at the coast. chris. >> thanks, lisa. developing news out of kenya this morning where search and rescue teams are working frantically to find survivors in the rubble of a collapsed apartment building in nairobi. these pictures show the narrow spaces where people are trapped inside the ones six-story building. at least seven are dead. 121 people survived the collapse with varying injuries, including a baby. there have been heavy rains in the area but it's too soon to say exactly why the building fell. a town in eastern texas has been declared a local disaster area after a tornado destroyed buildings and homes. take a look at this. crews are searching through several homes in lyndale after getting calls that people were trapped inside. powerlines are down throughout the town and fallen trees are blocking some of the roadways, forecasters say there will be severe thunderstorms in eastern texas gone today, bringing another chance of tornadoes. now to the bomb scare at a baltimore television station. a man who threatened an explosion is recovering in the hospital and facing charges. abc news reporter pierre thomas has more about the man. >> the moment chilling. in a newly-released surveillance video, a man dressed in bizarre costume parades into the lobby of baltimore's fox 45 tv station. ripping open his jumpsuit, he reveals what appears to be a suicide bomb vest. he takes out a flash drive and is threatening to blow himself up if the station does not air it. swat teams swarming in. the suspect was shot several times. new images. the potential suicide vest, complete with wires, a circuit board and packets that look like plastic explosives. but look closely. the packets only contain chocolate bars and police are able to take the wounded suspect to the hospital. seen here, the suspect, indentified as 25-year-old alex breezy. a grieving father said in recent days his son's mental state have had been unraveled. >> he just broke up with his girlfriend. looks like he's had a mental breakdown. >> abc news, washington. >> a russian fighter plane knew dangerously close to an american reconnaissance plane in the baltic sea. earlier this month russian attack planes buzzed a guide the missile destroyer uss donald cook. the pentagon is calling it unsafe and unprofessional. one military official said the russian pilot did a barrel roll over the top of the american aircraft, closing in within 100 feet. >> today in sonoma county there will be a tree plant income honor of arbor day. not just the any tree. this one comes with with a special message. wayne friedman reports from jack london state park. >> almost that jack london never left this office with the tools of the trade. and just outside the window, a mighty oak. >> he love the tree. love the view from her. this tree inspired him. >> it says a jack london fan to appreciate this. people come to see the home and see the tree. >> it's amazing something can live 500 years. he's volunteer here. >> the question has been how much longer?
