francisco unified school district says it was a miscommunication. >> the administration informed them that the shooter was actually outside the school and they should pursue the shooter outside. the police insisted on entering the school with their guns drawn to conduct the active shooter protocol. >> some shooters were saying were are the guns drawn in a frantic scary state. >> reporter: the sfpd says we are working together to make sure that we do not have a delay in service during any active shooter situation so as not to compromise the safety of any person, staff member or student. >> once everything was settled, once everybody knew everything was calm, everything went smoothly after that. >> reporter: in san francisco, melanie woodrow, abc 7 news. >> oakland police are looking for some armed robbers who shot at their victim this afternoon. this happened at 84th avenue and birch street in east oakland. sky 7 was overhead an hour ago. officers went yard to yard looking for the suspects. they even climbed up on the top of some roofs. the victim was not hit by any of the gunfire. an oakland health clinic should reopen tomorrow afternoon an a man in a wheelchair used a pipe bomb to kill himself in the lobby. there's crime scene tape today at the entrance to the san antonio neighborhood health center on international boulevard at 11th avenue. last night's bombing stunned everyone but no other injuries were reported. the man accused of running down a san leandro warehouse worker has been charged with first-degree murder. 27-year-old kadeem edwards was in court today. he's accused of hitting and killing 54-year-old takeshi watanabe with his pickup truck monday in san leandro. police say watanabe was trying to stop edwards from stealing wood palates from the true whole foods warehouse. police arrested edwards near a palette recycling business in oakland. the recycled pal et cetera get $5. >> the countdown to the final president dwral debate less than one hour away that will take place live at the university of nevada las vegas. a look inside where hillary clinton and donald trump will motor for the final time before election day and while this election process is divisive this year there are some voters still in the middle and unsure which candidate deserves their vote. abc 7 news reporter chris nguyen joining us live from the campus of san jose state university where voters will gather for a watch party for tonight's debate. chris. >> reporter: that campus watch party begins at 6:00 tonight here at the student union building. experts tell us that jobs and the economy are two of the issues most important as the candidates try to attract the undecided voters. at san jose state university some still aren't sure who they will be voting for in this year's presidential election. >> even amongst talking to people in class eds, i can tell they are really conflicted, like they really don't like the things that trump says but they really don't like the things that clinton does. >> reporter: and they are not alone. political analysts say roughly 8% to 10% of american voters remain undecided. >> i don't agree on the views of both party so it does make me tough to decide. >> i'm a woman and hispanic and i have to look in-depth at what each party is going to do for the country. i'll look more into it and decide from there >> reporter: undecided voters that the candidates hope to lock in include some millenials as well as white men without college degrees. both groups tend to be less connected to the political process and don't have a strong attachment to either party. >> we have to take those national polls with a grain of salt because it really does come down to the electoral college and those few battleground states that are really going to decide the election this year. >> reporter: in downtown san jose, some say they are just ready for the election to be over. >> i don't feel either candidate is really representative of the best we have to offer in this country. i feel like i'm choosing between the lesser of two evils. >> but they will be tuning in to tonight's debate. >> i want to see who is actually going to be there for the people. >> reporter: candidates facing off one final time before the american public. in san jose, chris nguyen, abc 7 news. >> hillary clinton's running mate tim kaine spent the day in the battleground states of ohio and north carolina, and he's confident about tonight's debate. >> my prediction hillary is going to be very strong, very strong on the -- on the facts and the details and demonstrating knowledge, and i think she will be what she was in the first two debates. she will be steady and calm, whatever donald trump tries to throw at her, and there's like a new thing every day, you know, that -- that, you know, the election is rigged. that's his new thing. >> voter fraud was a hot topic for trump's running mate mike pens who campaigned today in colorado. >> my running mate said there's polling places around the country where there's voter fraud and the media got a little amped up about that but don't kid yourself. voter fraud is real. it takes place in pockets in 5:00, a former apartment manager at mountianview is accused of molesting a child and police there there may be more victims. 73-year-old donald lawrence was arrested for crimes that police say happened several years ago. lawrence once worked at an apartment manager at arbor view apartment on california street. he's since moved out of state and is now at the santa clara county jail. a man who claimed to have a gun tried to rob two people who are walking their dogs in palo alto. this happened around 9:30 last night. dana avenue near newall road, two men told police that a man on a skateboard approached them and said he had a gun and demanded money. the victim said they had no money and the would-be robber took off on his skateboard when the car approached. fbi arrested a russianman wanted for criminal hacking of u.s. targets. the most well-known attack occurred in 2012 and the corporation hacked was mountain bay social media giant linkedin. abc 7 news reporter lyanne melendez is live at the san francisco office with details. >> reporter: right, and so while this occurred in 2012, linkedin didn't reveal it until earlier this year. now, the man arrested today in the czech republic was born in russia, and now russia and the united states are fighting over his extradition. the man identify by the fbi as yeviny mikolin was having dinner in prague, the capital city of the czech republic. the russian nationalist is accused of hacking into linkedin servers back in 2012 and may have compromised the credentials of 100 million users. that information consisting of user names and passwords may have been sold to other hackers. seth rosenblatt is with a security news website. >> it can be something as benign as creating identities for other people, but that can then lead to identity theft which has not -- which is not benign as al. here's linkedin's response for the arest. we're thankful for the hard work and dedication of the fbi in its efforts to locate and capture the parties believed to be responsible for this criminal activity. the california attorney general kamala harris was influential in creating the california cyber crimes center. speaking today at a school in san francisco, harris said she's very concerned about what hackers could do beyond attacking corporations like going after essential grids. >> like hospitals, power grids, right, electricity. that's very real. it could debilitate us as a country. the u.s. government has cyber attacks ahead of the presidential election. >> it appears at this point that the fbi is not connecting the suspect to the person or people who hacked the democratic national committee or the hillary clinton e-mail servers. >> the u.s. is requesting to extradite the russian national but russia says it will fight any attempt to do so. >> in san francisco, lyanne melendez, abc 7 news. criminal charges could be next for san francisco-based wells fargo. california's attorney general today announced an investigation for possible criminal identity theft. a search warrant shows agents sought evidence related to accusations that bank employees created accounts without customers approval in order to meet sales goals. wells fargo responded by saying, quote, we're cooperating in providing the requested information. >> well, the bay area is marking a major anniversary. coming up we'll see a new fight. wayne? >> quite unique, larry. it's worth noting that while we call this an anniversary. this is the 25th anniversary of the small fire that came back the next day and erupted into the firestorm. it caused this memorial behind me and so much damage. tonight we'll spend some time with good friends of ours and a person who ran through the fire and got to know it up close and professionally. a quiet stroll through the oakland hills on a beautiful afternoon. for john griffin also an anniversary. >> i look outside at the whole hillside, oakland hills are just covered with black smoke. >> one person you've never heard of when we talk about the oakland firestorm, a new retired abc 7 news photographer who took these compelling and now historic pictures. >> it was something totally out of a sigh fire -- out of a sci-fi movie. >> reporter: for those who lived through it these sights and sounds are seared into memory, the futility of a garden hose. >> that roof is going to explode. there's nothing you can do. >> the fury of the wind. and finally the realization that even with all our technology there was nothing we could do. >> every how is that i came in contact with was on fire. every house. it was either burning or it was about to burn. i mean, the fire was coming in all directions. >> in the first hour 790 homes burned. by the next morning we had a better sense of it all. 25 people killed, 150 injured and 1,520 acres burned and 2,843 homes gone. 25 years later the images shot by john griffin and others evoke memories. >> it will always be there. bill graham's civic auditorium this morning as volunteers prepared for the latest project homeless connect. it the helps link people without homes to resources and services, everything from glasses and haircuts to getting i.d. cards and legal advice. the last time san francisco hosted an event like this, more than 15 pun people received help. it's clear that the bay area has had a housing crisis. a report released today explored 20 different way to improve housing options in san francisco and make it more affordable to live here. after doing the analysis the bay area economic institute has three takeaways. first, make sure policies are designed to make more housing available, from affordable housing rules to new construction requirements. second, building new housing units. more inventory is the best way to make housing more affordable for everyone, and, third, making sure that the units are designed with affordability in mind. for example, building small units that cost less as opposed to large units. many residents are blaminging a shrinking housing supply on the increasingly popular airbnb vacation lengthals. >> now airbnb is cracking down on those who are turning homes into a hotel business. 7 on your side's michael finney is here with more on that. >> you've reported on that many times. airbnb has been battling complaints that short-term rentals are taking the places of permanent houses and now airbnb will ban hosts who went more than one unit in san francisco and in new york. airbnb said multiple listings are a red flag indicating that they are really running an illegal hotel business. income and san francisco have received the most complaints about abuse of the short-term rentals. the new limits are slated to begin next month. it's been a year of problems with automobile air bags. now yet another recall. fiat chrysler is recalling nearly 200,000 jeep wranglers, not because the air bags may explode. this time it's because they may not work at all. the company says a wiring defect may prevent the air bags from deploying in a call. it affects 2016 and 2017 jeep wrangler models. a similar air bag problem caused a recall of more than 1 is million other fiat chrysler models earlier this year. the company says its products are made in america, it had better be true. that's the law. today a glue company agreed to may $2 to,000 to settle charges it falsely claimed its glue is made in america. the company makes strong glues like quick fix and hammer tight. the federal trade commission says ingredients in the glues actually were made overseas. it's against the laws, as i said, to claim a producted a mace in the usa if most materials come from other companies. the company agreed to the fine without admitting any wrongdoing. >> sunday through tuesday. tomorrow morning when you get going warmer spots in the mid to upper 40s. cool enough that you need to dress for layers for the rest of you in the low to mid-50s. for the afternoon break out the short sleeves, the shorts, the flip flops. i mean, look at how warm it's going to get. in the south bay mid-80s, morgan hill, gilroy, 79 sun elvale on the peninsula. you'll feel the warmth out there as well. mid to upper 70s. money van view 80 degrees and 72 half moon bay and downtown san francisco 73 degrees. lots of sunshine in the north bay and nothing but warm weather so above average with low 80s for many of you here from santa rosa to napa. east bay communities, you'll need the sunscreen. 77 oakland and 79 fremont. inland areas on the warm side as well. low to mid-880s so it will feel like october. you know we get the warm weather here but you also know we do get wet weather around here. let's just fast forward to friday. mild conditions and cooler near the coast and you're making plans on the weekend. a brisk wind on saturday and it's dry. 60s and 70s and much cooler weather and for sunday we bring in a chance of rain and it doesn't arrive until later in the day which brings us to our rain chances the next seven days. you'll notice sunday through tuesday we do have a pretty good chance of seeing some wet weather around here. that's why conditions not just monday evening but the potential is there for the wet weather to last through tuesday so here's a look at some early estimates of the rain. we're looking at anywhere from a third
