temperatures once again well above average. the sea breeze kicks up in the afternoon, keeping it cooler at the coast. further changes ahead for sunday and we are talking about welcome rain headed our way for the upcoming work week. i will have that in a few minutes. >> good news. thank you, lisa. dealing news out of the east way where repairs are underway after a bart train jumped the track. it happened last night at 6:30 at the concord station. both lines on the pittsburgh line were blocked yesterday. repairs are expected to last through today and there is travel offered for people offer in that direction. we have more from concord. >> reporter: the bart train derailed just after 6:30 at the height of the evening commute and it's going to take a long time to get trains running through here again. >> we will not have bart service past this station all day through the evening. >> from sky 7hd you can see how the train came to rest, blocking rails in both directions. that's the reason all trains were stopped between pleasant hill and pittsburgh bay point a bart spokesperson said the train operator on board was not injured in the accident. this derailment caused a lot of damage. >> we have to bring in special vehicles and vehicles to get the train back into the track and there's damn to the train and rail and that's going to take time, repairing the damage to the transaction and the third rail. >> the train just finished its servicedy and didn't have passengers aboard. commuters were headed here were surprised to learn why they had to use buss to get to their final defendtation. >> what happened to the train? >> the tail end of it is across two rails. >> how did it do that? >> it's not clear why it jumped the tracks. >> abc7 news. hundreds of passengers were forced to take shuttles last night due to the derailment abc7 news allen wong has more on the impact to commuters from the pleasant hill bart station. >> reporter: a lot of confused passengers wandered off at the pleasant hill station after being told it was the end of the line. >> this is not my normal stop so i'm confused about where to go. >> they began lining up 23 local transit buss to get the rest of the passengers home. >> i don't know what i'm doing. >> a lot of passengers were unfamiliar with the layout of this station, as they tried to figure out which bus to get them to the right station. >> got a cab to concord? of the patients are newborns and two are mothers of the sick babies. according to the centers for the disease control ice linked to hispanic style cheese stole in california and maryland. it was likely produced by roo's food in delaware. it caused serious infections in the elderly and young children and people with weakened immune systems. >> there was another flew victim yesterday and the state health officials say 35 more people in california have died from the flu. that means there are 278 deaths this weekend and measles cases are on the upswing too. 15 this year compared to 2 confirmed cases in time last year. of the 15 cases one is in almeda county, one san mateo county and one in in contra costa county. one may have exposed people on a bart train. the way the world 7:00 right next door. as many as 50,000 fans are expected to attend that. fans of both events are asked to get there early and, if possible, take public transportation. the countdown to rain is on in as we speak. good morning, lisa. >> whale we are looking for the fogg this morning, the dewpoints are showing we are seeing more moisture in the air. we will look for le clouds and fog at our beaches. at a cooler day, a cooler weekend for those of you headed to the coast. but live doppler 67hd right now, looking at the clear sky for the most part. and visibility has not been a problem as of yet. a live look from our sutro tower camera. temperatures ever dropping into the low 40s in most neighborhoods, except right here in the city. 50 in the city. 45 in san jose. in the low 40s half moon bay and that's about 6 to 8 degrees cooler than it has been. things are changing slowly and we will see that throughout the next several days, as we head toward a wetter pattern throughout the middle of next week. napa, the chilly spot. 49 right now. petaluma down the road is pretty mild. mid-40s by the delta with low 40s concord and livermore. the visibility right now from novato to half moon bay, just a little bit in the way of low clouds and fog. elsewhere you are clear and you are chilly so the exploratorium camera shows it is a nice night out here or morning. we will look for the patchy low fog and clouds to continue at the coast over the weekend. more widespread tomorrow. that will bring a cooler day shore lane. but overall mild days with numbers above average. the wet pattern sets up by the middle of next week. so here's a look at our pacific satellite picture where the storm track continues to provide the blocking ridge of high pressure, sending moisture well up into canada. so we are dry all the way through oregon and washington and we will continue to see the pattern throughout the weekend. but we are fast forwarding to next wednesday. the 26th. that's when the rain will move across the bay area. it's the first system so it has to moisten up the atmosphere and it will see some light rain a break behind that as the next system cues up. this one focusing much of the activity south of san francisco. so finally for you folks in the south bay and the central coast looking at significant rain, slick roadways, high winds, and it should last into saturday. so in terms of high temperatures today, we should see numbers in the lower 60s for san francisco. so a bit of an on shore flow with 63 there. 66 over in oakland and still forecasting some temperatures near 70 degrees. so is that keeps us anywhere for about two to seven degrees above average. 69 in santa rosa. a few more high clouds along the shoreline with the on shore flow. low clouds, as well. santa cruz coming in at 65. 68 in san jose. and the accuweather seven-day forecast shows the mild pattern for today. more low clouds and fog bringing a slight cool down tomorrow. high clouds for a partly cloudy day on monday and tuesday. here comes the rain on wednesday. a chance lingers into thursday with more significant rain sets up for friday. and not out of the question to see perhaps several inches of rain here. maybe not that 12 to 14 inches we saw a couple weeks ago, but perhaps three to five inches bay area wide. wouldn't that be great. abc7 news has another great weather resource for you to [ all ] we're the pearsons, and we love chex! >> a bay area man who was killed in the korean war will be receiving the medal of honor. joe from santa clara county died in 1950. he and 23 other soldiers will be awarded the military's highest combat award next month. it's part of an effort to give the honor to veterans who may have been overlooked because their back ground. only three of still alive. the award-winning ceremony will be held on march 18th. a stockton man who saved a suicidal woman in oakland coliseum during a raiders game said he would do it all again. the 61-year-old was honored at the coliseum yesterday. last november he saw the woman dengling from the third deck and when she jumped the 50 feet it was the equivalent of 1,000 pounds landing on him. >> could have been dead. i saw stars. but my main concern was that i wanted to really lock her into me and i would take the blunt force of everything. but unfortunately it didn't turn out this way, but she's doing fine. >> he suffered deep bruises on his arms and chest. the 20-year-old san jose woman is still recovering from life-threatening injuries. a bittersweet milestone for a san francisco charity that feeds the poor. yesterday saint anthony's dining room served their 40th million meal. dianne feinstein was there to serve the lunch to a family. they provide food and healthcare to the low income people since the 1950s. >> we've been here over 60 years and the need is not going away. it's getting stronger. we are serving more meals today than we ever have. >> feinstein was also at saint anthony's in 1979 to serve the 13th million meal. she was san francisco's mayor back there. saint anthony's is opening a new dining room opening in october that will allow them to feed 30% more people. san francisco-based air b&b has announced they will give away safety kids for people who rent out properties on their site. it allows people make rams in their homes available to vacationers worldwide. they are giving away smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and they are available to all eligible hosts in the united states who request one. the site said it wants to ensure guests are safe. up next, the latest on the better derailment at the concord bart station. also the new impact of the california drought. the government's decision that could force you to double your conservation efforts. and the questions of access. the little boy who changed the way people shop, one grocery you've got to try this sweet & sour chicken helper. i didn't know they made chicken. crunchy taco or four cheese lasagna? can i get another one of those actually? half-hour with a quick look at the weather. meteorologist lisa argen up on the roof this morning. >> hi, katie. good morning. to we are going to transition to a different weather pattern even over the weekend. although it's going to be dry, things will be a little more moist with the return to a stronger on shore flow. right now we are look agent 41 at the coast. that's cooler than it has been. it's 50 downtown. 46 in mountain view with low 40s in the san ramon valley. more importantly we want rain. are we going see any? for the short term we have sunny and mild conditions throughout the day today. a few areas of fog and question will lack for temperatures once again well above average. but with the return to more on shore push and higher clouds, we will be looking at rain headed our way. in fact a series of storm systems that will bring significant rain by the end of the upcoming work week. i'll have the details in a few minutes. katie. >> lisa, thank you. we are following developing news out of the east bay where bart service a impacted this morning after a train jumped the tracks. it happened around 6:30 last night at the concord station. officials say an out of service train just left the station when it's wheels went off the tracks. bart officials expect refirst to run through today. >> we will not have bart service past the station all day through the evening. we will bring in special vehicles and cranes to get the train back on the tracks and then there's damage to the track and the third rail and that's going to take the time to repair the damage to the track and the third rail. >> bart is operating a shuttle train between pittsburgh, bay point and concord. and also pleasant hill stations. those traveling in the san francisco direction are encouraged to go directly to the pleasant hills station. the impact of the drought is getting worse. the federal bureau of reclamation decided california farmers will get any water from the central valley project and urban areas like the silicon valley will see theirs half. >> this is truly an unprecedented circumstance that the state water project and the central valley project are so limited in what they can provide. >> reporter: first it was the state deciding three weeks ago it can't provide water and now the u.s. bureau of reclamation central valley project sag it's allocation will be 50% of normal for residential users and 0 for agriculture. they normally get their water from those two sources. losing the water is prompting agency staff to urge users to cut back on consumption by 20% instead of the 10% requested last month. >> we are still hopeful that we were looking at dry as opposed to critically dry. i think now we all know that even if it rained -- it was very wet for the rest of the year we would not see the run off certainly statewide. >> that puts pressure directly on homeowners. san jose resident jean adams thinks the 20% reduction is do-able. >> anything i can do, not let the water keep running when i'm brushing my teeth, which seems to be a habit, i'm cutting this back. so everything i can do and everything i can think of at the time i will certainly try. >> the adams family is having the lawn aerated to reduce water run off and sprinkle time. the water district will remote rebates for replacing grass with drought tolerant plants. itit will be challenging or tech companies using water to cool heat generated equipment. and while the farm bureau said it takes a few years before befe impact will be felt. >> fishing enthusiasts in the north bay will have to find a few place to gather. russian river officially close today fishing yesterday due to an emergency regulation designed to ensure that salmon and steal head had the chance to spawn successfully. regulators say the fish are already facing spawning challenges due to low liver flows. fishing ban since through the 30th. the mercury news reports convenience scores have agreed to a school's request she's the arch rival. she has signed an agreement aimed at resolving the country's political crisis and more than one hundred people have been killed and hundreds injured in clashes between police and protesters this week. happening today, activists will gather in san francisco to protest google buses. they are calling for the reversal to allow google buses to pick up employees saying they block vehicles. they say they become symbols of the city's growing class divide and san francisco's affordable ability crisis. gag sell considering a new media for mountain view. city council on tuesday grow up the same so we raised him the same. >> he thinks blind people should be able to shop for groceries, the same for everything else. >> getting there is one thing, but knowing where everything is is a good feeling. >> despite the braille laters, whole foods also has these hand-held scanners so lined shoppers can find when they need on the shelves. >> the scanners allow the person to find the temperatures range from low 40s half moon bay, 46 oakland, 50 san francisco. san jose coming in at 45. emeryville. it's chilly across the bay and up in the north bay where numbers are dropping into the 30s. petaluma and napa at 39. 40 santa rosa. and lookout for some patchy fog around novato this morning. 43 concord and livermore sitting at 44. forecast highlights from the exploratorium this morning. patchy low clouds and fog that sets the stage for more of an on shore push. mild days for this weekend that's above average. anywhere from 2 to 9 degrees above average and a wet pattern sets up next week, beginning on wednesday. looking like it could go through a portion of next weekend, bringing several inches of rain. but take a look what's happening right now. doubled barrel high pressure pushing the storm track up into alaska. even the pacific northwest is nice and dry. we will continue to see plenty of sunshine. although some low clouds and higher clouds will focus along southern california. but look at the temperatures. 73 in los angeles with some dense fog early. 83 in palm springs. 60 in monterey with yosemite coming in at 61. 72 in sacramento. here are the changes to set up for the second half of the weekend. notice the fog throughout the afternoon today. then by tomorrow morning we've got low clouds and fog. a stronger on shore push. taking numbers out of the near 70-degree range for more 60s and low 6 tos. today 68 in san jose and santa clara. los gatos coming in at 70. redwood city 67. and the sunset and the richmond district, look for highs in and around the 60-degree mark. san francisco 63. petaluma and santa rosa upper 60s. so no real big changes. maybe not quite as warm as yesterday but still very pleasant out there. 68 in cass vo valley, 68 fremont and with temperatures near 70, boy, it certainly feels like spring. we aren't forgetting what we need and what we are welcoming in next week. that's the rain. high temperatures today before average. a few degrees cooler tomorrow. increasing high clouds by tomorrow and low clouds. we will look for partly cloudy skies through tuesday. here comes the rain on wednesday. the first system just getting the atmosphere ready. a chance of showers on thursday. it's the second system on friday looking like it could bring some very generous rain, some gusty winds and there's another system behind this one. yeah, the countdown for rain definitely welcome. we are going to fine-tune that for you and let you know if it speeds up or slows down. in the meantime we have to enjoy the sunshine and mild to understand yesterday's bombshell that the miners were close to trading harbaugh to the cleveland browns. here's rick kwan with the details in this morning's sports. >> good morning. according to pro football thought.com. the browns were ready to trade multiple draft picks to the 49ers for the head coach jim harbaugh. but it didn't help mostly because his wife didn't want to move. there are rumors harbaugh and general manager trent do not get along. 49ers ceo york said the trade story is not true but the browns did not deny the report outright. and the stanford cardinals played. shenay had a huge comeback. finished with 27 points and 7 words. stanford wins 64-59 and clinch a share of their 14th straight regular season title. number 18 cal across town at ucla. this game was close but the bears prevail thanks to a balanced attack. boyd with the steal. lays in 2 of the 14. and the bears win their fifth straight 77-72. yesterday canada beat team usa in men's ice hockey to advance to the gold medal game. three members of the san jose sharks played in the contest. adam burish, who was born in wisconsin, couldn't believe the u.s. came up short. >> had a big celebration plan if the u.s. would have pulled it out. and it was going on a big usa party but that -- canada kind of spoiled my plans so i have to zip it around here for a little aboutity. >> the giants did not make the playoffs last season but don't blame hunter pence. mike shumann has more from scottsdale. >> you have to constantly be changing this is a league of adjustments. you have to continue to push to get better. i think we did that by adding michael morris and tim hudson. each and every one of us individually and collectively have to strive and push to constantly grow and continue to get better. >> michael morris, you picked him up in the outfield. what's your impressions of him so far? >> a lot of fun to have on the team. he has tremendous charisma. we are similar in a lot of aspects so it's
