According to an article in the marin independent journal, officials gathered a new study by taking information from cell phones and gps units that communicate with mobile networks. There were a few surprises, including the uptick of people using the richmondsan rafael bridge. Traffic is up on that bridge 13 over the past five years. Other surprises . Where people are coming from. 36 of traffic coming into marin county during the morning commute is from the bay area. A vocal group of students protested outside the board of Trustees Meeting in long beach yesterday. Inside, the board voted to hike tuition by 270 a year beginning in the fall. The increase will generate about 77 million a year in revenue, which School Leaders say they need because of a looming gap in state funding. After an officer involved shooting there, a k9 police dog and two people have died. One Police Officer also hospitalized right now. I want to show you this new video i just got into our live desk. All of it happened late last night in crowley, louisiana, which is about 100 miles west of new orleans. Initial reports say police got to the scene, found a man had shot and killed a woman, and they think that is when that man turned and fired on officers. Thats when the police dog was killed and the officer hurt. Right now, Still Limited information and state police are investigating at this hour. This story just makes so many of us angry. A 73yearold woman is recovering after getting beaten unconscious on a b. A. R. T. Train early yesterday morning. It happened while the woman was riding the train between the coliseum station and the san leandro station. Station or just a woman walking down the street, thats thats just undignified behavior. I mean, uncivilized. Reporter the woman was treated at a local hospital and is expected to be okay. Officers arrested 23yearold William Winchester at the coliseum station. A criminal history search shows another similar case, battery of a transportation employee back in december. When students are here, we dont check their documented status, we dont give that information to anybody else, and so we want people to know that kids can come to school and be safe here. And Novato Police want families to know that the department believes immigration offenses are not the role of local departments.
