The department of transportation is estimating those figures from 424 separate damage reports including this wash out on highway 3 highway 35 in the santa cruz mountains. Reporter relief at sfo baggage claim at about 4 00 this morning, passengers from united flight 1579 arrived in the bay area from newark, new jersey about four hours late. It was terrifying, but only for a second. Reporter an engine caught fire while taxiing on the tarmac before take off last night. 124 passengers were told to evacuate immediately. And then the flight announced everybody take off your seat belts and rush to the exit and the lights were switched off and when we reached the exits the chutes were already deployed. Slid down the chute. There were fire engines and everything around. Reporter one passenger slid down to the tarmac, they were taken back to the terminal. Some of them shaken. Flights were delayed or canceled as a result. The tsa will be testing some new Airport Security screening procedures later this year that it hopes will help move lines faster. Abc7 news has learned they will replace Large Electronics including separate bins at checkpoints. It will speed things up, but apparently these items will appear similar to explosives and that requires tsa screeners to manually check each bag. Today the oektdbased nonprofit work safe posted this report after it was approached by the united autoworkers union. This is based on data tesla reported to the government.
