New developments tonight in a hitandrun crash involving San FranciscoPolice Officer christopher kohrs. Were here at San FranciscoGeneral Hospital where both victims involved in this accident are currently inside. Just a couple of moments ago i spoke with one of the victims close friend. That victims name is victor perez and a close family friend tells me hes covered in bruises. He has a broken leg and also hes just found out his jaw is broken in three places. This accident is not only lifechanging for this victim and one other but likely for officer kohrs as well. Once he returns from medical leave, if hes clear to return for medical leave, hell be placed on suspension and if found guilt on the felony charges, he could lose his job. We hold ourselves to a higher standard as Police Officers, and you dont like to see anything like that happen. Reporter news that one of sfpds own officers is facing two count of felony hit and run spread through the Department Early sunday morning. It was around 2 20 a. M. That the driver of this Dodge Charger hit two men in their 40s. Police quickly identified who was behind the wheel. Christopher kohrs. Reporter parking attendant ball shared the Surveillance Video near broadway from montgomery and shows people react and running towards the scene. Someone else is running opposite. We dont know if hes trying to get help or running from something. Reporter asfpd spokesperson says officer kohrs turned himself in as many as eight hours after the accident. Much later, say around 10 00 in the morning at Police Headquarters building on third street. Reporter timing which would affect any sobriety test given. Thats something thats being taken into account by the investigators. Reporter officer kohrs gained National Attention as the hot cop in an interview with halfkorean. Com. He spoke about his sudden fame saying i drove very carefully and never peeled out and never got overly drunk and said inappropriate things like before this thing came out because everyone was watching. Sfpd says officer kohrs was on medical leave before the accident. Hell be placed on suspension if hes cleared to return. And the family friend that i spoke with said that the other victim in all of this would like to lay low for now. He says that these guys were helping out some friends who just performed a musical set load their gear into a vehicle when officer kohrs hit them. An 18yearold pittsburgh woman died sadly today after her car flipped over. Heres the result. It happened on kirker pass road just before noon. Investigators say her car went off the road, flipped and landed on the roof, as you can see. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time and was ejected from the vehicle. First responders rushed to the hospital but could not save her. Investigators dont know why she lost control of the car. Weve learned today the person kill in a dramatic crash on highway 101 in san rafael yesterday was a 66yearold woman from ukia. Police say pamela burns husband was driving the corolla that cross the five lanes of traffic before hitting a truck and flipping over. He survived, but investigators say hes too seriously injured right now to find out what caused him to lose control. Police are still on the lookout for this man who is considered armed and dangerous. 22yearold Anthony Kirincic is accused of killing his girlfriend on saturday. 34yearold colleen straw died at a local hospital after being stabbed inside a home in san mateo. Police say Domestic Violence had been reported at the womans house in the past. Authorities found kirincics car in the parking garage near san carlos and evacuated a nearby hospital, but there was just no sign of him. Happening now. Its so precious erica even gave it a name. I named it elizabeth. It has a name. Its like something that i really made my own. Reporter elizabeth the violin was made in london by george krask in the early 1800s and is valued at about 20,000. Erica had loaned it to a family friend who needed it for music school auditions, but on november 20th it was stolen from this safeway parking lot on webster street in San Francisco. This is the gotcha. Its a lot better off right now than it was earlier today. Its in drydock up on dry land, as you can see. Earlier it was stranded out in the bay, up on that sea wall which was submerged by the unusually high tide. There is quite a bit of damage underneath here, i can tell you that, but the owner tells us this boat will be back out at sea in good time. It looked like a toy, precariously perched on a break wall near the mouth of the oakland estuary. It was a 51foot cabin cruiser, a half Million Dollar yacht named got cha. It was high tide so the sea wall was not visible. Reporter owner raffi lopez told us it happened about noon sunday during an otherwise pleasurable cruise with his family on the bay. Well, of course, your first thought is the boat going to sink . But it didnt, but i called the coast guard. They came immediately. Reporter with the gotcha stuck, lopez and his family had to be rescued by the coast guard. This morning at low tide he returned with vessel assist to retrieve the gotcha, but it was no simple task. It was very stuck so we hired a crane and hired vortex construction and brought a barge with a big crane and lift it had off because we couldnt move it with our boats. Reporter once off the wall, the boat made it to swensons boat works under its own power. Im going to get it fixed up and get it back out in the water as soon as possible. Reporter that may take a while. The damage to the hull expected to be in the 40,000 to 70,000 and should put the gotcha in drydock for at least a couple of months. Officials announced today they will rhett fit four existing cranes to make them taller in order to handle the new larger and more modern mega cargo ships out there.
