Reporter the over 80page Justice Department report found a disturbing pattern of stops without reasonable suspicion, arrests without probable cause and using force. There were complaints of Excessive Force between 2010 and 2014. Not one officer was disciplined. The federal investigation also uncovered seven dramatically racist emails. Including some targeting the president and first lady. A city official wrote in 2008, obama would not be in office very long because what black man holds a steady job for four years. Also announced, no federal civil rights charges against officer dare inwilson. Racist emails have been placed on leave and one fired. Abc 7 news talked to a local public defender today about that ferguson report. Hes not surprised by the finding saying its seen every day in the bay area. From misapplication of laws to overapplication of laws. Over and over, those are the types of laws applied to our black and brown client. The Attorney Says the first step to particularsfixing the problem is to admit there is one. A Hayward School was locked down at 7 45 before classes began. Some kids were there and parents were told to leave. Police lifted the lockdown at 8 15. Officers were investigating reports of shots fired and a possible road rage incident. San Francisco Police are hoping Surveillance Video will help them identify whoever is behind the latest brazen theft at an Electronics Store in the bay area. Thieves shattered the window and stormed in at 4 00 this morning, taking speakers and amplifiers from music lovers at bush andsteiner. The owner says this is the second time this happened at 4 00 a. M. Just this month. The store is just one of at least a half dozen Electronics Stores that thieves have smashed and grabbed, if you will, within the last month. Police urge Business Owners to take steps to protect their merchandise. It would behoove people to get audio visual surveillance in their systems and their stores and hopefully that would kind of deter some people. Authorities are recommending stores get iron bars for protection. Business owners are hoping police can catch the thieves when they try to sell the equipment. Uber got somewhat twisted in San Francisco today after a yellow cab and uber car crashed into each other. The cab driver said he was going along 16th street when an uber drive ran a red light and crashed into him. One person was taken to the hospital. The cab only damaged the front gate of the bar. Police havent determined who was at sfault fault of this crash. The video youre looking at from sky 7 hd is not a garage. Its a 7eleven in oakland. That honda belongs to an elderly woman who drove right through the front window just before noon. The stores owner says fortunately nobody was inside when it happened. Emergency crews say the driver seemed disoriented but otherwise unharmed. She was taken to the hospital. Police are investigating what caused the crash. Firefighters are looking into what sparked an overnight blaze at a wellknown restaurant on knob hill. The fire at the restaurant at sacramento abdomen polk broke out at 1 30 this morning. It may have started in some trash in the garage. Nobody was injured. This evening in San Francisco people will gather to protest the proposed building they called the monster in the mission. Its actually a tenstory condo highrise that would go right here at mission and 16th streets right by a b. A. R. T. Station. Opponents worry this luxury building would push even more people out of the neighborhood. Although Developers Say this will be good for the mission and will provide much more Affordable Housing. Reporter well a meeting will be held at 6 00 right over there at the Laborers Union hall at 18th and shot well. It most certainly will be wellattended and fiery. They promise 30 of living units. But not all at the main complex. The proposed tenstory housing complex will go up here at 16th and mission. This is what it will look like. 331 units, 41 of them priced for the middle class at 280,000 to 350000. All that money going toward more Affordable Housing. The fund from the sale of the units will be reinvested in the Mission District for 49 below market rate affordable apartments. The massive project will most likely cast a shadow on the playground of marshall elementary school. But the Real Estate Partners have promised to raise the a playground by 15 feet. The developer is also offering to clean up b. A. R. T. Plaza at 16th and mission. This is a rendering of how it will look. None of this appeals to Mission District groups fighting against evictions. They call it monster in the mission. Its going to be in the middle of a working class, lowincome neighborhood. Thats just really going to worsen the problem of displacement. Local activists say theres no compromising. Many families and people are getting kicked out and priced out of the city. 100 Affordable Housing or not. Dozens of people demonstrated outside the offices of the National Park service. Theyre upset theres a new general Management Plan for the Golden Gate National recreation area. The demonstrators worry that the plan will limit visitors to ocean beach, muir woods and dogs at fort fun ston. Theyre saying Public Access could be restricted and recreation isnt a guiding principle of the plan. Were speaking out with a loud voice to state this isnt okay. The National Park service told abc 7 news the Management Plan only provides a broad vision for the Golden Gate National recreation area. Public hearings are still planned on dog use areas and a final decision wont be made until early next year. During a routine inspection it was found in a shipment of plants. It can destroy a wide variety of plants and it spreads lethal diseases to almonds and grapes.
